Wedding colour combination?

barack!!!

Please help...
am struggling to come up with best colour combination to use on my summer garden wedding.
My favourite colour is purple and i like red too... so i came up with the following and not able to choose wich one will look best..
1)Purple and Fuschia..
2)red burnt orange and gold or brown
3)red and green
advise and positive criticism will be welcome...

Answer
Def. the purple and fuschia, especially since this is your fav. color. The second one is too fallish, too dark for a summer garden, no way. The third is Christmas all the way, never, never. As for the purple and fuschia, you can use many shades of purple, especially lavender. Go to this site and look at the purple with the fuschia, the lilac and the pistachio, the apple green and the coral (which is the only shade of pink it has, needs to be a medium to light pink)
http://www.mypersonalartist.com/ink-colors-html
Next go to this site:
http://www.realcolorwheel.com/colorwheel.htm The accent color directly across from purple is the what I call granny smith apple green and the lime green or yellow (I much prefer the lime, very different and a shade of green found in gardens). I would add in the pink as it would look great with the purple/lilac family and use some of the granny smith green in bouquets, arrangements, etc. Then add a small amount of the lime, which is popular. I know it sounds crazy, but you would not believe the way the lime makes every color "pop" it is just the finishing touch that makes the other colors "play" off of each other, to me. There are very small lime button mums, lime spider mums---gorgeous and also lime orchids with purpley/burgandy dots in the center, not enough to bring in another color, just enough to break up the color. Purple flower colors that I love are la-at-ris-very tall, would look good in arrangements, status, iris (of course) snapdragons and carnations come in some many different shades of purple from a fuschia family to purple, to lavender, and gorgeous mauves and pinks (You could also use a shade of hot pink). Pink, of course, is just about any flower---I love the pink roses and a small peruvian lilly, alstromeria comes in many shades and is a good color "blender". Go to local florists and ask to look at their wedding flower books, most are more than happy to let you look and many will suggest good color schemes and recommend flowers. However, do not let yourself be talked into expensive flowers you cannot afford, stay within your budget. I always suggest getting a 64 count box of Crayola children's crayons and a child's sketch book and experiment away with colors, also, use paint chips to make color combinations. You do not want everything to be in the same color family, but to accent each other, otherwise, you will wind up with one big blob of color.Take into consideration also, the colors of your bridesmaids, sometimes this can be a problem, but not usually.

Go to this site, they have many pictures of different colored weddings:
http://www.theknot.com it has a wedding color palette and a budgeter

Also, some other good sites:
http://www.blissweddings.com
http://www.fiftyflowers.com
http://www.pantone.com
http://www.favorideas.com
http://www.dessy.com lots of colors
I hope this helps you decide. I can see this combo in a garden. Think of a garden full of petunias, an annual flower used in most home gardens and hanging baskets. They come in beautiful colors and the colors of the purple scheme are beautiful in them, they however will not last in bouquets. The point I am trying to make is that the color scheme I have put together for you are all real flower colors that would be found in a garden. I can see purple dresses (not too dark for summer//in the lavender-purple family) with gorgeous bouquets of fuschia, pink, lavender, granny smith greenery and lime mums. A very summery scheme garden theme to me.

Wedding vs. Vow Renewal?

luvingmami

I am the MOH for my Sister's Vow Renewal/Wedding this summer. I have never attended a formal wedding let a lone a Vow Renewal--planning one is way out of the picture for me. My Sister will be wearing an actual Wedding Gowns with Brides maids and such... I don't know what to write on the Invitation cards since its really not their first wedding (gotten married in court). Please, provide me links! I need help!

Answer
Mr and Mrs Whoever invite you
to a celebration of love between
Bob and Mary
on whatever date at whatever place
at whatever time

Instead of saying "wedding", you can say vow renewal, celebration of love, celebration of the union of, or anything else you can come up with:)

Do not put anything in the invite about gifts, or a registry card because this "wedding" should be about celebrating their relationship with family and not about gifts. Even though it is not fair, they are already married and it looks bad to ask for gifts now. Some people may bring a gift anyway, but you or her are not to ask anyone for anything but to show up.

Right Dress......... Wrong Color!!! HELP!!!!!!!!?

I found the perfect dress for my school's formal this year.... only prob... it's the wrong color! Does anyone know where I can find this dress in black??

http://www.unique-vintage.com/1930s-style-eggplant-ruched-tank-rose-homecoming-gown-p-8631.html

Answer
Oh that dress is gorgeous. I think a dress like that in black will be quite hard to find. I actually like the colour it is in currently because the colour is dark yet light enough to see the nice details of the dress.
Good luck finding it in black but if you don't and you don't mind the colour, you should totally get it!

eggplant purple and lime green wedding?

Ashtray

Hi my fiance and i finally set a date we are getting married march 26 2011 it will be our 4 yr ann. My fave color is purple and his is all shades of green so i figured why not use those colors. just having a hard time finding ways to pull it together. a friend told me to take green apples or limes and slice them up and put them in a vase with purple flowers? Having a hard time finding a pic with an idea of that.. anyways do you think these colors will go good or clash and what would be a good idea to pull it all together we are having and out door wedding at river walk park by the water its beautiful! we are realeasing butterflys when the ceremony is over...

Answer
Just saw a beautiful eggplant color cake on http://weddingchannel.com but you have to sign in and I didn't want to take the time to do, it is free. Can go on there and they have colors of cakes listed by colors, but again you have to sign in to see a larger picture of the cakes.

I think with these two dominant colors I would use creamor a very light muted yellow. As for the green apples, use a cylinder about two feet or one and one half feet about 8-12 inches in diameter with green granny smith apples whole in bottom.
you will know them when you see them, they are a lighteish green, not quite lime. Put
four eight ft. tables put together to form an x. Draw it out. There is a square in the center, here you put a decorated table, tulle purple and llilac or violet, I like to use tuelle in a thick long piece and entertwine with lilac or lighter color and make arrangement look like it is sittingin a cloud, can raise it some more and cover with lace or tulle. At top of cylinder, let florist make with different shades of purple, lavender, lime and a little cream. Dynamic.

Very beautiful and big, but bride didn't use any other decorations, can't remember there might have been something small on tables, but with a centerpiece like that you don't need anything else. Food was on four tables and gave guests plenty of room to walk around.

As for colors, there are lime and all sorts of green flowers and what they call lemon grass, tiny can can make curly, love tiny buttons they call, some kind of mum, I think. Have bridesmaids in purple dresses with a lime sash and have bouquets shades of purple with lots of lime green. Think there is a hydrangea not opened that is green and others. Go to florist and start looking at colors or go to paint store and get little paintstrips,do not tell them what for, they might get mad. Say just looking. Also buy a box of 64 crayola crayons and a skecth pad and start a color board, Put pictures of your colors, pieces for ribbon and fabric. Can put on poster paper, do not have to buy a special board. Let groom and groomsmen wear lime or light purple vests with limebouts. Have your bouquet purple, lavender, and with touches of lime.

Go online and just put in purple and lime dresses and cakes and you will come up with a lots of ideas, bouquets too. Hope this helps. Can picture it in my mind, think I would stay with a deep cream and not do muted yellow. Lots of color going on so need something to tone it down. Just go on wedding channel for lots of stuff and the knot.com and I will list a site for a gazillion songs for every part of the wedding from start to end of reception and also a checklist for 12 months up until date of wedding. As soon as you get approx. no. of guests, go ahead and book your venue, church etc. as people book up to a year in advance. Worked at a florist for a year did my apprenticeship, and know if money is a factor, do not let florist talk you into a bunch of expensive flowers you don't need. Now carnations are making a big comebeack, they come in so many shades of purple, violet, lavenders, and pinks, fuschias, magenta. Look at these. Cheaper, but one of my favorite flowers.

White or Ivory wedding dress.?

Hailey Hub

I'm getting married next year. Some people are telling me i cant wear a white dress cause im not a virgin but some say it doesnt matter. Is it okay for me to wear a white dress since im not a virgin or no?

Answer
I work as a bridal consultant, I help brides choose their wedding dress. I have to admit, I have not heard that a bride can only wear white if she's a virgin in many, MANY years. ;) White wedding dresses are not reserved for "virgin" brides, if so, I doubt many brides would be able to buy a white gown! ;)

You should wear the color of wedding dress that you want, but that also looks good with your skin tone. Most "white" wedding dresses aren't pure, snow white anyway. They'll be colors like "diamond white" or even "soft white." For some brides, ivory is the color that looks best with her skin tone, and that's the color gown she gets. If you have a fair complexion, a white wedding gown will wash you out, while an ivory (or even silver or pale gold!) will allow your beauty to shine. Also, the colors vary from designer to designer, manufacturer to manufacturer. So the name of the color can be totally different colors, depending upon the designer. The bridal salon where you purchase your gown will have swatches of colors for you to see the difference. The store I work in has at least 1 sample gown in every color from every designer we carry. It may not be the gown a bride is considering, but we have it for her to try on so she can see what the color looks like on her, rather than trying to judge that from a 2"x2" swatch of material.

Good luck in choosing your wedding dress!

I know this one is from ebay, but I found the same one at a local store, and I was just wondering if you like it. Also, what color should I get it in, white or ivory?
If you have a favorite dress, put the link below and I'll check it out!

Answer
I think it's gorgeous! the color depends on your skin tone, if you're very pale then white might wash you out. see if you can try on dresses in both colors to see which one looks best :)

I need suggestions for wedding colors!!?

Ani

I have decided on purple/green flowers, colors, etc. to go with my medium blue bridesmaids dresses. (the wedding is outside in summer so green is automatically part of the equation)
Can i get a soft platinum gold colored shoe for the girls too? I don't really want to do silver as my dress is a very soft ivory and i want to keep the colors warm and soft. Will the platinum gold look good w blue? i want it to look unique and cool but i do want the colors to marry well...

also, what color jewelry should the girls wear??
THanks!

Answer
a bronze shoe would look nice:
http://media.photobucket.com/image/bronze%2Bshoe%2Bblue%2Bdress/fashionunder100/fu100/drew.jpg
http://eceandbbtfashions.com/images/shoe4%5B1%5D.JPG

As far as jewelry goes it depends on the neckline of the dresses. A bangled bracelets in the bronze color would be cute as well.

Sometimes it is easier to not have them wear jewelry.

best wishes........

Where can I get a conservative wedding dress?

Jane

So I am helping my aunt with her wedding dress search. She really doesn't want to wear a traditional "poofy" dress. She wants sleeves, that cover at least her shoulders. She has red hair, green eyes, and freckles. She doesn't really have a problem with color, but I think when she looks back at her wedding album she will regret wearing something colorful. If you think otherwise, thats fine.
Thanks so much!

Answer
Thanks to Kate Middleton, sleeved dresses are making a come back..so your friend is in luck! Actually, if she likes that style there is even a few replicas. As far as I know, Alfred Angelo has a very affordable one.

Otherwise, remember that sleeves can always be added! She could find an absolutely beautiful strapless gown (or sleeveless) and have as much fabric as her heart desires sewn into the gown. It may also help to consult a seamstress to get a custom wedding dress so she gets exactly what she wants, too. It isn't always as expensive as you think to go that route. Good luck to your Aunt! And Congrats to her!

which bridesmaids dress *pics!*?

Zerachiel

after i posted a question about dress colors last night i decided to design my own bridesmaids gown. i like the design and i think my three girls will look good in it but now i need help with colors. i did two quick color jobs in photoshop and my original thought of going with the main body black would be to dark..

here are the two dresses

black /red : http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n104/Zeraciel/blackandred.jpg

burgundy / cream: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n104/Zeraciel/redandcream.jpg

so far i am liking the burgundy and cream but what other color combinations could i do.

it's a christmas themed wedding set in december. any other ideas would be great
thanks all..

i am trying to stay away from white since my dress is white. the girls are carring roses called latin ladies.. just a small round bouqet of 7 roses. like this http://www.sunnywoods.com/upload/lgimg/1163040599.jpg

Answer
I like the burgundy and cream. Since it is a Christmas themed wedding have you considered doing the dress in red and white? I think that would look pretty with white rose bouquets with a lot of greenery in them. Just a thought. By the way you are very creative!

Jennifer K

Thank youu :)

Answer
My sister has pale skin and I'm like her personal fashionista! I say bold colours like a hot pink or purple or green, (also mocha is quite good) this is because pale colours against pale skin tend to wash you out and make you look even more pale (almost ill)

Question about wedding colors and bridesmaids dresses?

phatchick1

I'm getting married in February of next year and my wedding colors are lavender and mint green. I'm having four bridesmaids and I was wondering how I should incorporate the wedding colors into the bridesmaids dresses. I wanted to let my bridesmaids be able to choose their own dresses, I would just tell them what color they had to be. But I don't know if maybe I should pick two styles, one in lavender and one in mint green, and have two girls wear the same dress and the same color, or just pick one color and have the girls pick what style they want. Please help! :-)
I'm not going to have a MOH, they're all Bridesmaids.

Answer
Always have your BM in the same color dresses an different styles are optional. With these colors I would go with one color as base and accent with the other color. Ex. lavender dresses with mint hair accessories. Just be very careful with these colors so the wedding will come off classy. I would suggest using a neutral color for your base color, silver, creme or ivory and use the lavender and mint to accent. Hope all goes well.

Maid of honour dress? 10pts.?

karrick23

my friend just asked me to be her maid of honour and im excitied.
she put me in charge of my dress and the braidsmaid's dresses. it isnt till june 21 2009 so i still got some time i just need ideas please.
im looking for a dress i want it to be criss crossed on the back
long dress.. straight dress..
the color isnt important right now cause im just trying to find a dress with criss cross back that i like.
does anyone know where i can find a dress like that?
please have pictures of them.
Thanks

Answer
That is very nice of your friend to let you choose the dresses- the bride always chose the dresses in the weddings I have stood up in.
I would suggest that you visit websites/bridal stores that also carry prom dresses. In the experience I have had, I find that the prom/formal dance dresses are much less expensive AND you have more of a variety than you do with a "bridesmaid" dress. The prom dresses will be just as formal, but sometimes if you pick the right style, you could wear the dress again! For the wedding, you can dress it up with some dressy heels, formal jewelry, but could also dress it down to wear to another event at a later date. This is a super duper feature of a dress that otherwise you will only wear one time. (Bridesmaids dresses tend to be very trendy/seasonal and focus on a color scheme to match the rest of the wedding rather than style or design qualities.)
Another thing to think of is how everyone will look in the dress you like. You may be dying to wear a long dress with criss crossed straps that you will look fantastic in, but it may not look good on everyone. In fact, one of the girls may look really awful in it. Although your friend gave you the job of picking it out and it IS very exciting, I would really think about colors/styles that suit all the bride's ladies.
I work at a banquet hall where we have wedding ceremonies and receptions, look through and help edit wedding photographs (my friend is a photographer who specializes in weddings) and have gone to dozens and dozens of wedding in the last year alone. I have found that one way to successfully execute the choosing of the dresses is to choose one color (if it isn't black, then you choose one color of a particular brand) and let the girls each choose a style of dress in that same color. Another thing that could work (depending on number of bridesmaids) is picking one style but different colors- to suit the girl's skin tones, hair color, etc.
If this doesn't work for you, do what loads of other bridesmaids do... shop store to store to store to store and try on lots of dresses until the group of you can get worn down enough that you are all willing to agree on one single dress.
Make sure to ask your friend what she expects out of the dress and your hair style (same or different from each other? up or down?) and the jewelry and shoes you will be expected to wear. These factors also play in to what dress you should choose. Stay in close contact with her and her feelings... weddings and women are sometimes not a good combination!

Long necklace with wedding dress?

sweetcarol

For my wedding, I really wanted to do something different. Never really been the princess type, so I was thinking going more trendy. Its more of a casual/garden late afternoon wedding with reception to follow. My dress is simple, vneck - really classic.

My idea was to find a fun long necklace to wear with it. I typically have one on every other day of my life, so I thought it would be a nice personal touch.

What is your opinion? Not wedding appropriate? Anyone have a suggestion as to what necklace would be fun and different?

thanks

Answer
Well, actually, I don't know.. my personal attitude is that there probably isn't any hard-and-fast rules about this.. just try it on, see how it works.

But I was just reading a good story about that last week on some blog, I 'l ltry to find it and stick it below. It was explainng the right jewellery for the right neckline or something. Seemed to make sense :-)

How do I find a wedding dress?

pinkyfi

My little sister is getting married in a year and we have no idea how to look for the dress she wants. Any help would help. We live in Dallas but the wedding will be outdoors on a ranch in the hill country of texas in the evening. the tone of the wedding is 'elegant country wedding.' she does NOT want a satin dress. she doesn't really want the traditional wedding 'gown'. she wants a dress that is definitely special and stands out as a wedding dress but it doesn't necessarily have to be bought at a bridal boutique. she likes the idea of vintage dresses (she likes the delicate lacey short sleeves and bodice that a lot of dresses have). she wants some sort of sleeve because she hates her arms (even though they're fine) and she wants the dress long. she will be barefoot so she doesn't want a short dress and defintely no trane. if i had to describe it i would say she wants the idea of a renaissance dress (long and flowy) but in more of an antique and bohemian style (she def does NOT want a renaissance style dress per se). price is not very important in choosing a dress, though that does not mean we want to spend inappropriate amount on a dress. as far as sizes go, i don't know the exact size - maybe 8 - she's 5'7 and has a nice figure. does anyone have any ideas on how to go about looking for something like this? if you even have some ideas of words to google, please let me know. i don't really know what to search for. thank you so much

There have many dresses (including wedding dresses, bridesmail dresses, flower girl dresses, party dresses, some wedding accessories). they all custom-made.
You also can choose your favourit images to send them, they wil custom-made according your all demand.
The dresses are very beautiful, and the quality is very good.
What's more, the price is reasonable.

Wedding colors?

DZlady

I'm getting married next July and I am having trouble deciding on the color the bridesmaides should wear. I know that I want the flowers to be bright pink and orange. Any suggestions on dress colors?
Since someone thinks that the pink and orange clashes, I thought I would give examples of real wedding that have used it and it has looked fabulous.

Answer
Try a blend of the two colors and go with a peach or a variation of peach. Remember that peach does not flatter everyone so some of your bridesmaid may not want a totally peach dress. I totally dig on the idea of your bridesmaids wearing different dresses according to their tastes. Mine did that and it was really pretty. I dictated what colors they were but they got to pick their own style of dress. I simply made sure they didn't look stupid next to each other.

But all in all I think peach would be a really pretty color next to the flowers you would like. Either that or a nice green to compliment the foliage and mildly contrast the colors.

Need some opinions on a dress color for my wedding?

Happy

Hello:
My colors are hot pink, white, and champagne. My bridesmaids are wearing pink dresses and our groomsmen are wearing champagne vests. Anyways, my mom wants does not want to stick out too much since I have one bright color and two light colors. Which color dress would you suggest if you had to choose? I am the bride and she is my mother so it's important to us that she looks fabulous. My wedding is next June and we do not want her color to be too "loud." Thanks and the link is below:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_V-Neâ¦
She doesn't know what color either and has asked my opinion. That is why I am trying to get a feel for other's thoughts. :)

Answer
She should probably go with shades between light Pink or a Light tone of Peach, She has to wear something that is gonna make her stand out in the crowd but not get confused with a bridesmaid. My wedding was burgundy and beige (girls burgundy guys beige) and my mom wore a light pink/peach dress.

What do you folks think of this dress? Maggie Sottero SAHARA on a plus sized girl?

BKR

Im thinking of wearing this dress for a BEACH wedding. I would need it plus-sized due to my large chest (40-E). What are your thoughts on this? My colors will be KIWI GREEN. What is an accent color that would match this nicely? I was originally thinking KIWI GREEN and accents of ORANGE. (We live in Hawaii, marrying on the BEACH) Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=Sahara&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=12&style=J127

Click above for the link to the dress... thanks!

Answer
It's a beautiful dress, but do you really want the bottom of it dragging through the sand? I'd be more inclined to pick something about ankle length, so that when you're feet sink in the sand, the dress wont get all sandy.

Personally, I would want something a bit more breezy for a beach wedding...something that flows with the breeze, and drapes around my body, rather than something as structured as the dress you're looking at. But if that's the style you want, it's a gorgeous dress, but maybe something a bit shorter tha wont drag in the sand.

Colours that would look good with kiwi green:

peach
brown

Having my wedding dress made?

Megan C

So i am planning my december 2009 wedding now, and i fell absolutely in love with this gorgeous Vera Wang wedding gown. Unfortunately, my budget absolutely does not allow for that kind of money on a wedding dress. :(
How much would it cost to find someone to make the dress for me? Is there a way that i can do that? how do i go about it and what would the costs be? (i live in a small town in utah, cache valley.) here is a link to the picture of the dress. thanks!
(also, this is the only picture that i can find of it anywhere!)

I just did a search on eBay & came up with one pattern. I did not even search for a pattern, so I think you would have good luck there. Any good seamstress could make a dress. Go to a fabric shop to get recommendations for a seamstress in your area.

i want to design my own wedding dress?

i could make it but i'd rather have someone pro do it, where could i have someone make the wedding dress i designed in utah?

Answer
Go to www.shellyleppertdesigns.com. They custom make wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, and more as well as sell them. They do a wonderful job and they have great prices. They can go off of a sketch, a picture, or from your head. Give them a try.

Questionnaire on your small/medium wedding?

Sandra-Dan

For those you had or are having a smaller wedding I would really appreciate if you answered some of these questions :) Some are to do with money, so if you feel uncomfortable answering a certain question, please feel free to skip that one!

1.How many people at the wedding?
2.How many tables?
3.How much did you spend on your dress?
4.How big was your budget?
5.Did you go over the budget? If so, by how much?
6.How much did the reception cost?
7.How much did the wedding ceremony cost?
8.Do you wish you had a smaller/larger wedding?
7.Did the bridesmaids pay for their own hair/makeup/dress?
8.Did you rent your wedding/Bridesmaids dress (and/or) suits/Tux?
9.Did you decide against a bridesmaids/groomsmen/flower girl/ ring barer, if so why?
10.Did you wear a white dress?
11.What was the best thing about not having a large wedding?
12.What was the worst thing about having a small/medium wedding?

Thanks Heaps =)
What country do you live in?

Answer
you don't define what you consider small or medium, so please keep in mind that I consider small under 75 guests and medium 75 - 125/150ish. Also, I planned & budgeted for a large wedding (invited 225) but because it was held where I live (in PA) nearly half my invited guests declined and it ended up in the medium category.

1. 115 attended
2. 12 plus one which was an activity table for the kids
3. $250
4. Budget was $20k (again, I was planning for a large wedding)
5. No, came in under due to low attendance
6. As far as food/beverages & hall, $6800. If you add in the cake, DJ, centerpieces: $9500
7. Pastor/Church was $550. If you add in flowers, ring pillows, programs: $1,300
8. I wish it was larger and that everyone I invited would have made more of an effort to be there. My fiance & I have regularly traveled for our families' "special occassions" and made the effort. We have no plans for kids so this is for us our one & only BIG event to celebrate.
7 (second one). We bought the bridesmaids dresses, hair/makeup was optional and at their own expense - all my bridesmaids and 2 of 3 flowergirls opted to have their hair done at the salon with me but all did their own makeup.
8 (second one) bought wedding gown & bridesmaids dresses, rented tuxedos (we paid for all the attire for our wedding party)
9. Nope. We had 1 MOH, 1 Bestman, 2 Bridesmaids, 2 Groomsmen, 2 Ringbearers, 3 Flowergirls. One Bridesmaid & One Groomsman (now-hubby's 1 Sister & Brother-in-law) dropped out of the wedding due to alot of family issues so we had sis do a reading for us.
10. yes, although I had wanted ivory but the dress I found was on clearance and only left in white.
11. the lower cost.
12. not having everyone we wanted be there.

need some help with wedding colors?

Kasey

i'm trying to figure out some colors that look good on tan and fair skinned girls. its for my wedding next year and i'm not making the girls get tanned for it if they don't wanna, so i'm looking for colors that look good on both. if yall could help that would be great... and if it helps the wedding will be in the fall.

Answer
Black
Dark Purple (Eggplant)
Orangy red
Burnt orange
Olive
Cornflower blue
Saphirre blue

If you feel that some of your bridesmaids won't look good in your wedding color, pick 2 wedding colors. That way, they can wear a dress the color that flatters their skin tone, but they can also add your other wedding color as an accent on a sash, in a bouquet, a headband, or a different hair accessory.

What color dress would look good on my skin tone?

what color dress would look best for asians?

!j

middle school graduation is coming up. not that formal but oh well im wearing a dress anyway:D
but idk what color to get. im asian. so yep. black hair, brown eyes, natural tan-ish skin color. what color dress should i attempt to find?
-please suggest all colors you think would look good, but also please give your opinion on this dress:
http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=50455&CatID=56312&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=189a181&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=50455%7c51280&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=69&cmVirtualCat=&CmCatId=50455|51280|56312

they might not have it at the store though so....
i tried AE, but they have like no new dresses now.....and they're not really "graduation type"
so feel free to suggest any stores that i could try to look for dresses...ive researched it a bit.....but idk, just want some more opinions. thanks!(:

Answer
'asian' is a HUGE generalization, even though i know what youre talking about, i think you should put that a little differently, it throws a lot of people off.
but for the skin tone your describing here, i think a nice white sundress will actually make your tan POP and bring out the whites of your eyes and make them sparkle. and you'll probably be the only one in a white dress. that a GOOD thing if you like original! ;-)

http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&navAction=jump&id=18347633&search=true&isProduct=true&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS&color=049
this comes in white, too, and its pretty much the kind of dress im talking about.
and by NO means should you wear a Dark dress! you have darker features, so you have the ability to work brighter colors. like a nice red or minty forest green and PATTERNS!

http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/onlineProductDisplay.vs?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=GN-253119&page=1&cgname=OSPNKDRSZZZ&rfnbr=7209

dont get too fancy though! its only middle school graduation, you dont want to strain yourself looking for a dress. do something fun and light that is age appropriate! good luck! :-)

Advice for wedding dress color?

dollycritt

Help- to be married soon-- he will be wearing dress army greens: I have dk hair, dk eyes, native american, my color anaylsis says I am an autumn; I look good in corals, but I dont think coral would look good next to dress army greens - which is a forest green and a mint green undershirt

I do not look good in forest greens or pastels--due to military status, it will be a quick non-traditional ceremony thus I am not doing the full white dress.

I do not think red would be appropriate-what do you think?

am open to suggestions for a dress color/style which could be worn later to say a cruise or another formal event.
Just a quick small legal ceremony is all we will have time for -we plan to do the whole traditional theme after things are settled -
Ooooooooh I LIKE the Burgundy & cream color ideas -- I did not think of that!!!
and the cinnamon...

Answer
Okay, what a fun question! I love the non-traditional wedding style, then you can really make it your style... how awesome! Congrats! Anyway, what I';m thinking, after everything you described, is maybe either a light brown/goldish color or a cinnamon color... that way it's still close to coral, but I think the darker versions will look better with the army greens. Here are some that I found to give you some ideas! Good luck!

what colour makeup for coral dress?

i have a coral/watermelon colour dress and im not sure what colour eye makeup i should go?
thanks

Answer
Go with bronzed skin, and a nude lip. As for eyes, you could do a brown smokey eye for day, or black for night. If your accessories are turquoise (A GREAT color to pair with coral!!) you could do a light turquoise eye with black or brown liquid eyeliner and mascara! You're going to look fabulous!

Wedding color feud!!?

skye skye

My fiance and I have been talking about wedding colors and he is hell bent on our color being blue - as in the color of all the bridesmaids dresses, the flowers, etc. I HATE the color blue and I would rather have the color plum, as it is one of my favorite colors and our wedding is going to be in the fall. Even my bridesmaids hate the color blue and say they don't want to have to wear blue dresses. I know that the couple is supposed to be in agreement on everything that goes into the wedding as it is both of their's day. But in all honesty I feel that the wedding color should be more of the bride's decision than the grooms. I told him he could hae a say in everything else, such as the cake and flowers, music, venue, etc. But the color is the ONE thing that I absolutely want to be a definate in the wedding. I've tried to get him to combine our two color choices, but for one it looks awful, and two he wants the bridal party to be in all blue. (which I don't want, nor do my bridesmaids) Is it unreasonable for a girl to want just ONE thing a definate in her wedding, especially when her parents are paying for the entire wedding? Does anyone have opinions on this or have similar situations happen?
I forgot to add that his parents are not paying for the honeymoon as the usual tradition goes. We are paying for our own honeymoon. I really had my heart set on Paris (it's the city of love) but he wanted to go to Hawaii. He said since he is paying for the majority of the trip he would rather go to Hawaii - I agreed, I wouldn't mind going there-it just wasn't what I really wanted. Shouldn't he just deal with the color since I'm dealing with the honeymoon destination?

Answer
My 100% honest opinion, you need 2 people:

A wedding planner & a premarital counselor.

First you need to make sure you know how to communicate with each other before you can commit to being together forever. This is a silly argument, and you both need to figure out how to work these things out with throwing in each others faces who's paying for what. Seeing a premarital counselor isn't a bad thing, it shows that you are committed to working on your relationship and growing as a couple. The counselor can give you both the tools to see each others point of view, accept what the is saying and together work out a compromise.

And second sit down with a wedding planner to help work out a general direction for your wedding. You don't need to hire someone to run the whole show, unless you want to. You just need to sit down with someone who knows the process and can help iron out the details. Many planners offer this kind of service to point couples in the right direction at very reasonable rates. And while you're there have the planner recommend a color scheme that does not feature blue or purple. At the very least have the planner show you both options that may make combining your favorite colors more attractive. Perhaps once you see some options you may like a blue theme or perhaps you will see something else that you both like.

I truly wish you the best of luck and remember never be afraid to ask for help.

im wearing a white wedding dress with red flowers trailing up the front what colour can my bridesmaid be?

im getting married in rarotonga and want to have tropical colours for my tropical island wedding , my dress is white with red flowers on it what colour would compliment that and still look tropical and island like?? im goin crazy trying to think of a colour. I HATE PINK!! so any colour except that.

Answer
Great theme!

I love the idea of a nice tropical orange color...BUT, a LOT of people don't like to wear orange, as it's a hard color to pull off. Run it by your bridesmaids and see how they feel about the color...

A few color scheme ideas:

-Tropical blue dresses, with red and orange flowers.

-Purple dresses (dark or light) with red and orange flowers.

-A light hue of red for the dress, with orange detailing or an orange sash around the waist, flower color of choice ( I would go with orange and yellow)

-A light color of orange or just white, with some tropical flower detailing, flower color of choice

Basically, I think any bright, fun and carefree color will work for a tropical theme. Or, you can always go with a neutral color and add the tropical details with accesories like flowers and sashes!

Good luck!

How do I dress like a rich girl?

Bob

I'm not trying to pretend I'm rich or anything. I just like the way they dress. I don't want to use labels, but I think its called "preppy"? I live in a middle class city and the people in my school dress kind of ghetto and like hypebeasts. Graphic t-shirts, Nikes, hoodies, ect. I'm more into button up shirts/polos, skirts, knee high socks, riding boots and flats. How do I dress with that kind of style? Brands (can't afford designer), type of clothes/colors, makeup, hair, ect.

Answer
You can look like a million-dollar without spending a million bucks. Even millionaires shop @ Target, Walmart, Kmart. ~ Forbes.

"Fashion is supposed to be worn for several seasons, not just one". ~ Victoria Beckham.

"You can look dirty, but you can't BE dirty". ~ Kate Moss featured in Sept. 2011 Vogue's the Most Romantic Wedding of the Year.

You can shop @ Goodwill, Salvation Army, Ross, Marshall. For example: I just bought this burgundy floppy wool felt hat, @ Marshall's, a week ago, regular price for $19. Steven Tyler is wearing the same floppy hat, without the feather. I added my own trademark fabric flower hair clips, and I'm unique, but Steven is wearing that on American Idol - as a judge - last Monday. I think he just copied me!

You can find all types of fashions hardly worn or vintage clothes.
Come over to the senior center, where we have Rummage Sale once a month, and everything during the last hour is half price. A Designer Bag, for instance, $.50, No matter what brand! That way, we don't have to pack them again, to go to a larger store.

Where could I get a cheap wedding gown?

Red Bone

I just got engaged and I want a wedding, but I don't want an expensive ceremony or reception! I've been looking online and the only place I can find a cheap wedding gown is on David's Bridal website. I am just looking for a dress that in under $500, because we are paying for the wedding ourselves. Also if you have any tips to keep the wedding costs down I would greatly appreciate it!

Answer
I am doing the same thing.. Just google this "cheap discount wholesale wedding gowns". It will bring up tons of websites with low cost gowns. Some are $60 and up.. Most on those websites are maybe $100-300. Really good prices! Also to cut cost with the wedding is buying your flowers wholesale online in bulk and making your flowers yourself. Also halls or outside weddings are the way to save too.

Im getting married at a hall in a restaurant. It has its own side entrance so they do not enter the restaurant. It comes with tons of food on the table and pass arounds, open bar, aisle runner, flower arrangements by the arch, arch and cake arch, tables, chairs, table centerpieces
and coordinator for $1850.00 - 50 ppl. $100.00 for the ceremony. That was a great deal here in New Orleans.. I am making my own flowers too to cut cost as well.
If you google how to cut cost for a inexpensive wedding, you will get alot of ideas! Good luck to you!!

Credit for this question goes to cheryl and shawnee. cheryl just asked what wedding ideas have you seen that made you go wow I wish I had done that, shawnee responded she had only seen bad ideas. So, I ask what things have you witnessed at a wedding where you said wow... they should have never done that?

Answer
I say that to myself anytime one of the following things happens at a wedding:
1) A dove release
2) Bride and groom being driven around in a horse-drawn carriage in manner of Cinderella and Prince Charming or similar
3) Father-daughter dance that makes you say "ewwww" instead of "awww" (example: dancing with your dad to "Endless Love" by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross)
4) Sculpted mashed potatoes, like the ones they serve in hotel restaurants
5) Bouquet toss near tables, which always results in one or more injuries
6) Ill-fitting strapless wedding gowns that cause the bride to continuously tug the top to keep her breasts from falling out
7) I was once at a wedding where the DJ played the "Electric Slide" and NOBODY, not one person, got up and did it. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone!!!

Gorgeous dress! You can go in a few different directions with your third color to compliment it.

1) Purple (either a deep eggplant/grape or lilac would work)
2) Red (either a bright hue or burgandy)
3) Rose pink
4) Teal or Jade
5) Clover green

It will be a winter wedding. I want something not to inexpensive but not too expensive. I dont like puffy dresses, I do like the modern look type. Yes, real silk. Please help.
All comments will be helpful thanks!

Answer
I would go start trying things on. Go to a smaller, privately owned bridal shops (instead of larger chain stores), in my opinion the sales people are just more knowledgeable. Since you have a good idea of what you want, go in and explain it to them and they will be able to pull dresses that are what you have in mind. Almost all wedding dresses can be ordered in either ivory or champaign, even if the sample is white (I'm having an ivory dress too).

Lastly, don't be shy to try dresses on that a sales person might suggest. They have a great eye for body shape and what will look good on your and still be what you have in mind - it's worth the 5 minutes to try something on, even if it isn't exactly what you picture or doesn't look great on the hanger. One of the salespeople at a little family owned shop suggested I try on a mermaid style gown and I fell in love!

The dress she suggested wasn't "the one" but I did eventually find my dress, and it's mermaid style - something I never thought I would like or look good on me! My reception dress will also be a mermaid style!

Good Luck and have fun! It may take multiple shopping trips to find the right one :)

Addition:

I noticed another posted recommended Casa Blanca - yes all their dresses are made of real silk, but at every store I've tried them on at (I actually like a quite a few of their designs) they are always overpriced. I don't know why, maybe because they are a Canadian designer and made in Canada, but these dresses are always priced $500-900 more than they are really worth. And this is coming from my mother who used to design and make wedding gowns and owned a bridal store for 6 years.

Wedding Make up?

Q. I need to figure out what shades and tones to use for my wedding day.. I am wanting to do my own make up...

My complexion is fairly medium tan, dark brown eyes and brown hair....

wedding colors pink and brown (if that gives any help) with beach theme. and my dress is light ivory.

any help from eyes to toes would be wonderful...

Answer
First you need to determine your skin tone - either warm or cool. It's sounds like you have a warm skin tone but here's how to check:

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

More about color: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_tone_color_matching

Then you can decide on a color palette. For a wedding you will want neutral, classic makeup. If you are going to have black & white photos taken make sure the colors you select will look good in them.

After you've narrowed down your color choices, have a friend take photos of you in a 2-3 different looks in different light settings so you can check out how well each one photographs.

My first suggestion would a slightly, shimmering champagne eye shadow w/ black eyeliner. Then a pretty rose or plum blush and lipstick.

Here's an article on testing & finding the right lipstick: http://www.wikihow.com/Buy-Lipstick

As for your fingernails, I recommend Essie's Sugar Daddy - it's a really beautiful sheer pink that will look classic and elegant. This shade just makes one's nails look healthy & perfect. For your toes, you can choose a deeper pink or you can go neutral. Essie's Buy Me a Cameo is a shimmery, pearlescent taupe that is neutral but not boring.

Need help with wedding theme and colors!!!?

coachlover

Okay.. so i need help picking colors and a theme. My favorite color is light pink but my fiances is like a teal blue. He also really likes the beach alot. I love the beach as wellk but i also want a classy wedding. I was thinking pink and black for my colors but don't know how to do a classy beach theme. I really love the damark pattern and want to use that in my invites and so on. Can anyone help me with what i should do.?

Answer
I think you guys could go with shades of pink and teal!! It's very summer-y. A lot of brides don't really care what their fiance wants, they just make their wedding all about them, them them - I think your wedding should be a combination of you and your fiance's tastes. Unless he totally doesn't care, then just do whatever you want. But the colors pink and teal look verrry good together:

You can totally have a classy beach wedding. Beach doesn't automatically mean casual and laid back:

I'm guessing you were meaning to type "damask" pattern - and you could totally get damask invites in pink or teal. Here's a link to a pink damask invitation:

Hair updo for this wedding dress?

Sally H

How would you wear your hair with this dress?
http://www.alfredangelo.com/collections/styles/2034

Answer
I think that a simple hairdo would look very nice with the dress you choose. Here is one way if your hair is long http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zmZR-PlJ_AU
And another if your hair is short http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EWS2kLJ7mS4
And maybe put something like this in your hair, just to give it that extra sparkle :) http://m.advantagebridal.com/ba1828.html

I hope your wedding day is perfect, and I also really love the dress you picked!! :)

What hairstyle would go with a high neck dress?

Eman

So my dress for a wedding is a beautiful orange colour with gold chains and a lace that goes up to the neck. It's pretty formal and it's absolutely gorgeous, but I can't figure out which hairstyle will look good with it! The dress has a high neck and I HATE updos, so I'm not sure what to do with my hair. I have long, layered hair. Any suggestions? Pictures or tutorials would be SUPER helpful ^_^
Thanks in advance xx

Plus size wedding dress with jacket?

CaitMarae5

I'm getting married in Vermont next fall. I've been looking for the perfect wedding dress for years but still have not found it. I can not wear a dress without some kind of jacket to go over it. Short sleeves are fine but I need something. Ideally I would like something with not too much detail but with a sweetheart neckline. This dress would be perfect but I dont love all the detail. Help please!

"Snooch" - people like you disgust me. What gives you the right to make fun of me? Are you perfect? I doubt it. Grow up and stop wasting everyones time.

Anyways, I did some more research tonight and fell in love with both of these. I'm not sure how the sash would look on me and without it I dont think the dress would have the same effect. The second one is simple and elegant yet has just enough detail to make it unique (theres beading along the neckline. hard to see from this picture). I'm thinking of trying to design my own bolero. Thanks for the suggestions!

Answer
The first dress with the bolero and the third one are absolutely gorgeous. I am really loving the sweetheart neckline with the bolero. I am also a plus size bride-to-be. I got my dress at David's Bridal. I have to tell you that had I seen either of these dresses I would have easily scratched the one I have off my list.

I was self-concious about my arms also. I strongly encourage you to go and try own various styles of dresses. In my search, I found that the styles I wanted did nothing o compliment my full figure. I wanted sleeves and ended up with a beautiful strapless gown. I also went to shops ALONE. I asked the advice of other brides and strangers in the store.

Here is a like to a bolero I thought was cute:

Winter wedding guest dress?

Jenica b

I'm looking for a dress to wear to a wedding in Amsterdam this winter (December 23rd). It's a daytime wedding, but since I don't live there, I'm not sure that I have a chance to change my clothes prior to the dinner and after-party, so it would need to work for all three occasions. The wedding's going to be pretty formal, so I want my dress to go no shorter than knee length, but probably not longer, since I'm not a bridesmaid. Velvet or heavy satin is also what I'm shooting for. Does anyone have specific suggestions for me?

Answer
For December, trendy Colors for Winter are red, black, white, and dark blue, burgundy, or solid colors. Since its going to be in Winter its best that you wear a dress with a shawl, and the dress be a thick material. Taffeta and satin are best. Strapless and Halter Top dress are most elegant and classy, here are some suggestions from my favorite store:

As a guest, is it appropriate to wear a dress that has the color motif of the wedding?

Pat S

I want to wear this cute flower printed dress to a wedding. I already have the dress and don't want to get a new one. The color motif of the wedding is brown and light blue. I have a dress where the flowers are a mix of brown/blue with a background of beige. Will wearing this dress upset the bride? What are your thoughts?

Answer
The probablitiy is high that many guests and the wedding party will be dressed in the same or very similar colors.

Most of the time, the wedding color scheme is picked to fit the season. The bridesmaid's dresses are probably bought new out of a store and therefore are probably in a trendy color. Every season there is a new pallet that's popular for that year's fashions. So, if you bought a new dress close to the wedding date, there would probably be several women there in the same color and shade and they are likely to be wearing a bridal party color.

To avoid looking like a member of the wedding party then, all you would have to do is pick a dress in a pattern, just like you have done.

If you want to wear solid colors, pay attention to the style and fabric of the outfit you plan to wear. For instance, if you wore a sophisticated three piece ensemble, you wouldn't end up looking like a bridesmaid. Likewise, a form fitting cashmere sweater dress is unlikly to look like any of the bridesmaids, even if it was exactly the same color, unless they were also in cashmere.

So, wear your dress and don't give it a second thought. Nobody else will.

dying a multi coloured dress? please help!?

daisy-lola

right, I have a multi coloured dress, its floor length and chiffon with bright patterns in dark purples, reds, yellows, greens etc I love it and wore it to a wedding in the summer, i have a xmas ball coming up and want to wear it but the colours are too summery and I want to dye it either a deep red or emerald green, so I was just wondering:
A) if this would be possible with all the different colours
B) if it is, would I need to strip the colour first, how would I do this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Answer
Take the dress to a tailor. Different materials dye differently, some won't even accept dye.
Overall, with your color choices, and there being yellow in the dress, I'm thinking you are going to end up with one mess of a dress. Either try to dye it black or go to an expert.

Can I dye my dress a different color and get rid of the stain?

-*-Chelley

I have this dress, its just a casual dress, one color. I love this dress and last year after I had my son I had to wear dresses for a while cause I had a C-section. Anyways like a week or so after he was born I was holding him and he pooped and it leaked out his diaper and onto my dress! Ever since then there has been a stain there and I have tried everything and there mother trying to remove it. Well I've been kinda wanting to dye the dress a different color and I was going to use the Rit fabric dye. So my question is and this is a last resort for the stain, if I dye it a different color will it dye the stain too or is the stain just there forever now....OR if anyone has any other stain removing options i'd love to hear them. THANKS

Answer
Have you tried scrubbing the stain with baking soda? I know, I have a few favorites in my closet and get upset when something happens to them. Right now I gained weight and they don't fit. I miss those clothes! If the baking soda does not work...dye the dress a darker color or see if there is some way to hide the stain... depending on the size of it.
