What should I wear over my dress to a semi formal banquet?

Recently I got a dress from Forever 21 and I am going to wear it to a semiformal banquet at school and it is little chilly in the morning and afternoon.

The dress is a black high low dress. It is a strapped dress. The top is a leather material and the bottom part is sheer, chiffon kind of material. What kind of jacket would match this dress? What colour would match best with it?

Try silver, red, NAVY blue, or gray.

DONT go for yellow because it sticks out too much.

OK well first of all I think that all those extra questions will be done better if you call places around the city to get your quotes. As far as cheapest time I think the Fall and Winter months are the best time everyone wants to get married in the Spring and Summer so you may find more openings in the end of September all the way up to March that would be pretty cheap. I don't think you can rent a flower-girl and a ring-barer unless the family is desperate enough to rent their children out.

Can I dye my dress a different color and get rid of the stain?

I have this dress, its just a casual dress, one color. I love this dress and last year after I had my son I had to wear dresses for a while cause I had a C-section. Anyways like a week or so after he was born I was holding him and he pooped and it leaked out his diaper and onto my dress! Ever since then there has been a stain there and I have tried everything and there mother trying to remove it. Well I've been kinda wanting to dye the dress a different color and I was going to use the Rit fabric dye. So my question is and this is a last resort for the stain, if I dye it a different color will it dye the stain too or is the stain just there forever now....OR if anyone has any other stain removing options i'd love to hear them. THANKS

Have you tried scrubbing the stain with baking soda? I know, I have a few favorites in my closet and get upset when something happens to them. Right now I gained weight and they don't fit. I miss those clothes! If the baking soda does not work...dye the dress a darker color or see if there is some way to hide the stain... depending on the size of it.

first you want to consider the sequin and stitching, are they the same red color, neither of these things will change color from dyeing secondly unfortunately there are two more problems, a prom dress is most likely made of synthetic material and it is nearly impossible to dye synthetic at home and even if you did(a few stores do sell dye for synthetic) all things dyed must be rinsed and wetting your dress would most likely ruin it, I'm sorry but you're best off leaving it red, but on the bright side I recently read a survey that found men subconsciencely find women in red most appealing, have fun oops I almost forgot any spray for fabric would also need to be rinsed and these products usually leave the fabric very stiff, but still have fun, it may seem too bright but the room will most likely have low lighting and it won't be too bright .

It's hard to tell in photos, because those models are all airbrushed and spray-tanned. But I'm one of those fair-skinned people who looks better in ivory - bright white makes me look sallow. I can tell the difference when I look at the colors, but it becomes really obvious when I put them on.

My advice is to try on dresses in several shades of white and ivory to figure out what looks best with your complexion.

I am attending a vegas show soon and need to know how to dress for it. 1st time going.

It's up to you.

You will see people in cut off jean shorts, tie dyed t shirts and flip flops. But you will also see people wearing dockers with collared shirts or even a suit.

If you want to make it a special evening then dress up and go to a nice dinner. If you are out and about and have been walking all day and don't have time to change before the show then you will fit in also.

I would suggest dressing up! It makes it feel special.

If you are seeing a Cirque show there will be slightly more people dressed up then dressed down. A dinner show like Tony & Tina's Wedding or Tournament of Kings is a come in whatever you are wearing type show. A comedy(Terry Fator or Wayne Brady) show is casual dressy, like nice jeans with a nice t shirt or dress shirt.

Also the show ticket price can be a good indicator of how most people will dress. $40 or less is a whatever you want to wear, $50- $75 is probably a slightly dressy, and anything over $75 a ticket you would probably want to dress up a bit.

You will see people of all ages, all nationalities, all income classes! There is no such thing as "fitting in" in las vegas because people come from everywhere to visit the strip!

here are lots of other tips to save money on your big day.
congrats.

first off- shop after holiday clearance sales at craft stores, michaels and ac moore, and places like walmart, target and kmart. i got things on christmas clearance for 75-95% off- votive candles in glass holders for $.40 each!

i can set you up with a great lady who is making my invites. she does package deals (any size you will need) and a la carte - you will save tons with her. i'm getting 75 invites, evelopes, thank you scrolls, rsvp postcards, folded thank you cards and evelopes and address labels for under $90

rings- shop jc pennys when they have sales, look for coupons...
or ebay and craigslist. really don't be afraid of ebay. shop sellers with 99 or 100% feedback only

transportation- use a relatives nice auto or use your own. you DON'T nee a limo, you can even rent a big suv for the day for near nothing from most rental co's

dress- shop consignment shops. my dress cost $150 and is awesome.

bm dresses- these have dresses under $100

guys clothing- they can wear white shirts and tan slacks. or white shirts and dark slacks and a tie... make sure they are all bought at the same time so they match.

flowers- you can shop local flower stores or grocery store floral dpts (make your own if you like) bring pics of what you want to guide your florist. or silks from afloral.com look great. that's who i went thru for mine

centerpieces- i like the tall vases with topiary style arrangements on them. i love gerberas so i think using them is a great way to punch up color and keep your budget down

food- shop around for a site that does in house catering or a caterer that has a great rep and great menu
sticking with pasta and chicken is a good way to keep bellies and purses full

ceremony location- i'm all for outdoor weddings. i think being surrounded by nature is just beautiful and makes for awesome pictures. plus most are free or really cheap.

reception locations- you can have it at a vfw, moose/elk lodge or fire house banquet hall. they are nicer now that ever... they realize how much revenue they generate so many/most have been updated in the last few years.

cake- shop bakeries but also shop grocery stores. most do wedding cakes and are rather tasty cakes. you might not get all the flavor choices of a bakery but most ppl go with white or chocholate anyway.

you really don't need them but if you do - favors- you can do organza bags filled with candies. shop ebay for the best prices, seller ideabus, has the best prices and selection

photographer- look on craigslist for your area, under services, type in photography and see the results. i found a great gal for mine $300 for 6 hrs. some places charge wayyyy more but you should be able to find a good one for under 1k

you might be able to do the same for dj services. or just call around for a good rate from someone with referrals

our wedding for about 100 ppl will run us about 2500k, his family is doing our food so that helps.

most important thing about a wedding, budget- STICK TO IT

oh join your local yahoo group freecycle and post what you are looking for. i got lots of wedding things for free.
post on craigslist for your area too. and search for wedding things too. many ppl have left overs they want to unload after their weddings and sell at below lowest cost!

Thanks to some very generous relatives I had a beautiful wedding. An aunt bought my gown for me in a very exclusive bridal salon. My grandmother paid for my wedding reception in a country club and my dad's orchestra played free as a courtesy to my father. The church had many flowers because we were married the week after Easter and all the Easter lilies were still in bloom around the church, in addition to the flowers we purchased for the alter. My three sisters were my attendants and my brother was our best-man. We had a traditional Catholic service and were chauffeured directly to the country club where we greeted our guests as they entered. The music was continuous because of the many musicians that volunteered to play and everyone enjoyed the dancing .

The morning of our wedding it was pouring outside, but by the time we were ready to head for the church after having many pictures taken at home, the sun was out and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. Our day was special because we were married by two priest friends, I had 4 grandparents and one great-grandparent present, both sets of parents were alive to take part in our special day and we were relaxed due to the fact that the wedding was well planned and all details were settled beforehand.

The only regret I have is that my mother was the decision maker for everything from my gown to the menu, and I had nothing to say about my own wedding. She did do a wonderful job, but I would have liked to be a part of all the planning. Anyhow, back to the reception. As we were leaving the country club, three band members brought their instruments outside and played all the songs pertaining to Miami where we were going for our honeymoon. It was all so perfect.

All that happened 48 years ago on April 28th, 1962 and it proved to be a wedding built on trust and love. We have raised eleven children and boast of 33 grandchildren now, but the memories of our wedding come alive every time we take out our wedding album and shed a tear or two of joy.

It really depends on a number of factors:

* where you live (metro areas usually cost more than suburban and rural areas, and big cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. cost a LOT more than smaller cities)

* how many people you're inviting (more people = more meals, more seating, a bigger hall or ceremony site, more invites/postage, etc.)

* how formal you want to be (filet mignon on fancy china will cost more than fried chicken at a casual picnic)

Costofwedding.com (or maybe costofweddings.com, I forget) will give you a ballpark price, and a breakdown, if you give your Zip code. Theknot.com also has a budget calculator and some helpful message boards. Offbeatbride.com is a great resource for inspiration if you want something more "you" and less traditional.


Remember that all you NEED is a license, a certified officiant, and however many witnesses your state requires. If you're having guests, all you NEED to do is seat, feed and entertain them. And you may want to hire a great photographer, just for quality lasting memories as a nice keepsake for youself. You can knock out anything you may not want (favors, formal invites, a garter, a huge cake, a white gown, etc.) - don't feel pressured to do things you may not like just because they're "traditional." The media fools brides into thinking things are "traditional" or "necessary" because they want you to spend money.

Don't be afraid to get creative! Maybe you'd like a nice ceremony in a public park with people seated all around you, followed by a nice dinner at a local restaurant. Maybe you can get a friend ordained to marry you, then go out for pizza and bowling afterward. The sky is the limit.

I would say that if it has a decent amount of black trimming then it would be ok. Usually as etiquette goes you should steer clear of anything white/off-white. If she's a good friend...and you're doubting the choice enough to ask the question, I personally would find another dress.

You don't have to wear all-white attire. It could be ecru, beige, cream or off-white. It's best to ask what kind of ceremony will take place, where it will be held, and of course, the motif [color theme] of the bridal party. A simple yet elegant dress is acceptable, so is a formal pantsuit or two-piece. No cocktail dresses though.

As for gifts, it's a good idea to give something that would be useful to the couple like small appliances, stuff for the bedroom like sheets and blankets, a dining set, cookware, small [or big, if affordable] furniture, etc. If there is a card with their bridal registry's telephone number and location included with the invitation, you could check their listing so there won't be duplicates of gifts.

Now money is an accepted form of a gift. Be reasonable yet realistic, that is, give only what you honestly think you could give. A few thousand pesos maybe, or a gift certificate. And be discreet when handing them their gift. Besides knowing that they got it directly from you, you won't leave the impression of a showoff.

But I'd still recommend getting them something useful for their home and, possibly, future family. =)

I like your colors. Different than I have seen, but it works!

I think all the dresses are very pretty. Your dress is great, the flower girl dress is super cute (I like pick up skirts).

But, the bridesmaids dress.......while is super cute, looks comfy, and you are being very considerate of your bridesmaids on the cost - I think that its too casual compared to your dress and the flower girls' dresses. Both those dresses look like a satin finish and the bridesmaid dress looks like cotton (i know its rayon/spandax or whatever but those materials look like cotton. I would try to find the another fabric that LOOKS similar to your dress and the flower girls dresses. I'm afraid you and the flower girls will look too formal for your bridesmaids.

I know this doesn't come in yellow (I was trying to surf the internet quickly for a dress to show you) buts its inexpensive (for a BM dress) and it comes in black which still goes with your colors AND it matches the sash both on your dress and the FG's dresses. I think it pulls all of you together better being in black. You can have the your BMs carry bright yellow flowers and maybe wear a yellow accessory like necklace and/or bracelet to bring in that yellow you wanted.

My wedding color is ivory. I will have an ivory dress and the flower girl will be in ivory as well. However, the ring bearer will have a white dress shirt (not ivory). Is it ok for him to carry a white ring bearer pillow instead of an ivory one?

My dress is off-white too (diamond white) because it goes better with my complexion. I had the same question about the tuxedo shirts. Someone here made a really good point that for the shirts - and for the ring pillow too - you really want it to be bright white so it doesn't look dirty. So go with the white pillow and don't worry about having everything match your ivory dress.

I can't remember, or find out, what episode it was, but, to me, the dress looked like a Lazaro. The girl wearing it looked young, pretty, and I think she was blond. The dress was pink and embroidered and had a big puffy skirt that had to be altered, as did the bust area. I think her family was there. Can anybody help me? What episode, and season, was it? Do you know the bride's name?

We all wish that we could have $15,000 to spend on a wedding dress but that's certainly not the case for me. Plus $15,000 for 6 hours just doesn't seem worth it. I think the most I will spend on my wedding dress would be $5000 and that's pushing it. What about you?

I've spent $500 on my wedding dress, which was actually pushing it, I was looking to spend less, about $300, but I fell in love with the $500 one. My wedding is going to be around $5000 total, for reception, ceremony, two favors each person, food, deejay, pictures, and even entertainment.

Something fitted at the bust and natural waist and flows out from there down. This will make you appear taller and leaner and make your waist look smaller. Your natural waistline is around your ribcage just under your bust. Most people think the waistline is at their hips, so thought I'd tell you.
A tiara or detailed hairpeice and veil will draw the eye to your face and have an updo instead of leaving hair down will make you appear much taller. I am talking a lot about making yourself look taller because it will also help to make you appear leaner.
My other advice is to buy a bustier that you can tie up the back to pull you in and can take inches off your waist.

I am attending the wedding with my bf who is a groomsmen. We are both in our 20ies, as is the bride and groom. The wedding color is a deep green, as far as I know. Any ideas on what I should wear? I want to be warm, but don't want to wear a floor length gown. The wedding will be as formal as a traditional wedding goes-nothing too formal, but nothing too casual either. The ceremony is sometime in the afternoon at a Catholic church with the dinner reception in the early evening at a hotel. I'm thinking of wearing a pant suit...but I still want to look feminine. Specific ideas would be great. PS, as I'm in my early 20ies, I do have a budget. I don't want to spend anymore than around $150.

I would go with a cocktail dress in a warmer fabric in a deep jewel tone color like a sapphire blue or peacock purple or even a deep red or burgundy as long as it isn't super bright. Pair it with a wrap or cardigan and some panty hose to keep your legs warm with a pair of cute heels and you'll be wedding ready. If you really feel like you'd be more comfortable in a pantsuit, try dressing it up a bit with fun jewelry or a brightly colored shell under the jacket to make it seem like more of a special event outfit than a business outfit.

Maybe get a sweetheart neck line dress that goes to your ankles or knees. You should get a dress that's knee length, or ankle length. Maybe try a victorian looking dress. There's a lot of options, so I;ll just leave you with some pictures. Tip: don't do a long dress since it'll be on the beach with sand and maybe even sand crabs.
