wear a good foundation keep ur cheeks and lips n neutral colors.... think u should put more emphasis on ur eyes...use the eye shadow in violet color..u can make a combination of violet and silver, violet and black, or violet and golden ..look at the following pics for some ideas..good luck

What brings out the color of light brown/amber eyes?

purplegirl

as you know, prom season is coming! i need to look for a dress color that pops on me. i have light brown eyes, but some of my friends describe them as an amber color. they occasionally have gold or hazel flecks in them and i have no idea how to bring them out. so basically, what color dress and makeup would look best? i have pale-ish skin and brown hair. thanks!

Answer
A deep plum, burgundy/maroon, or green dress would look gorgeous on you. For makeup, try violets and bronze, and a gold highlighting eye shadow to bring out the color of your eyes.

My boyfriend and I are going to a wedding on October 6th. He is one of the groomsmen wearing a black tux and orange vest, and the bridesmaids are wearing brown. I'm thinking about wearing a halter dress that hits mid calf. The color is David's Bridals oasis, which is kind of a calipso color with black undertones. Because it is the first weekend of october I'm planning on wearing it with black heals and a black cashmire wrap.

What do you think??

My only concern is that I wore it to his sister's wedding this past March, and his whole family is coming to the wedding as well.

Answer
Wear the dress if that's all you have. Change up the accessories you wore with it the last time. Wear different colors which will match the dress instead of black.

need wedding ideas please?

Elizabeth

Okay, well I'm trying to have our wedding this year on 10/10/2010 and i was just wondering if anybody had any ideas. I kind of want it to be a small, intimate, romantic wedding the colors are a dark purple, with hints of gold and ivory but the thing is I live in a pretty small town so I have to drive like an hr away to San Antonio to get things. I want to keep it as cheap as I can, we're still pretty young and have a baby who is almost 9 months...and I don't feel like spending all these thousands of dollars lol...anyways if anyone has any good ideas or pictures with those colors or any opinion i'd appreciate it =] ohh and umm theres like 100 guests right now but i kinda doubt that all of them will come...
ohh yeah and because i live in a small town there is kind of a limit to where we can hold the reception and one that i've seen has picnic tables...any ideas on how to decorate them? or has anyone ever had picnic tables? and also they have an inside to it where there are the metal folding chairs any ideas on how to make it look nicer without the chair covers or do u think that just leaving them alone would be better?

Answer
Why don't you and and fiancee get married in a tiny wedding at home or nearby.
Have a few family members over for the wedding and cake and champagne.Have no more than a dozen people.
No reason for an expensive dress or huge flowers or colors. No wedding party.Just a fun group of people.
Then you and hubby go off for a long weekend without baby.Is there some one to care for your child for a few days ?
I have heard great things about San Antonia.Get a great hotel. See the attractions and relax. Have a nice time.

I'm 20 and im engaged and i wanted to know what style of dress is good for my size? im 357 lbs and im 6'0..... please help and no rude answers please......

Answer
Wear a floor-length dress with a full skirt (ball gown) or draped skirt (empire-waisted). A-line would also look nice.
As for the bodice, it can be whatever you want. It can be strapless or halter or spaghetti strap or with sleeves or whatever you want. People say that curvy women shouldn't wear anything that exposes the upper arms, but I don't think it really matters if your upper arms show or not.
Since you're so tall, I honestly don't think heels are necessary, but if you want to wear heels then go ahead!

EDIT:
There are some GORGEOUS plus size wedding dresses!!!!

can anyone find a pic of my wedding dress?

kodak_2057

I bought a dress, it is Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner from the plus size collection (Julietta) style number 3072. Anyway, I love it, but I am not a plus sized girl and I keep seeing pics of this dress and my runner up dress in magazines, but the runner up looks better because (I'm sorry!) my dress is always on the same plus sized model. When I bought it I didn't know it was a "plus size" because it isn't, it is a 10 and it is gorgeous on. Doesn't matter what collection it came from, but I am wondering if anyone else may have better luck finding a non-model pic of it since I have had none. Thanks for your help!

ps. the reason I want to find a pic is that it is still at the store, so every time I see pics of my runner up, I have doubts about my choice. But when I put it on I remember why I love this dress. I need to not have to run to the store every time :) And the only pics I have of me are crappy iphone pics where it doesn't quite fit right.
I'm looking for a pic of it on a different person than the model on the morilee website. Also, I'm not looking at other dresses, but I was looking through a bridal magazine and there were a couple of pics of my runner up and it looks better on the model then my dress does, in my opinion.
Thanks Perse and Nova_Queen... I guess I should be happy that so few people have apparently worn my dress :) I am not worried about other people thinking I am plus sized, or people having seen the dress, I am just curious to see what it looks like on other smaller girls besides me. This isn't about me being vain or looking for another dress, just curiosity... thanks for helping!

Answer
I think you have chosen a beautiful dress, I totally understand how hard it is to envision your dress when you see it on a model that is sized nothing like you.

I tried searching several ways to try to find it on a real bride and couldn't. However, I did find this dress which is similarly styled and it is on a smaller sized model. It is still a stretch of your imagination, but I think this might give you a better idea for what your dress will look like on you and a bit of a comfort level that you made the right choice:

I am getting married on August 31, 2008 and my bridesmaids dresses are truffle with orchid colored sashes and an orchid peekaboo skirt. I have always imagined myself getting married in a white wedding dress, but now I'm beginning to think that maybe ivory would look better since the bridesmaids dresses are truffle colored. What do you think? Do you think white would be nice as well or should I really go with ivory? Thank you for your advice!

Answer
I think Ivory woul go better with truffle, but you do need to see what goes best with your coloring too

What colored bridesmaid dress would go great with tea rose sash on wedding dress?

My first idea was to have royal blue in my wedding but I found a gorgeous dress that already had a colored sash sewn in it. It is a alfred angelo 2024 dress with tea rose colored sash. I was wondering what colored bridesmaid dresses would go with it and what color flowers/flowers would go with it. Tea rose is a pretty pink, but not all pinks will go with this dress. Ideas please?

What are the rules for a wedding at St. Patrick's Cathedral?

nycbride

I will be getting married at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC. Does anyone know if my wedding gown and bridesmaids dresses need to have shoulder straps on them? Are there any restrictions to the bridal party attire?

Also, are we allowed to take pictures at the alter after the ceremony? Is there even enough time?

Answer
Usually Catholic weddings require modesty on the part of the bride and her attendants. Every Catholic wedding I've been in, the brides and bridesmaid have had sleeved dresses. However, some more liberal churches allow the veil to be the shoulder covering. St. Patrick's in NYC is not a liberal church.

If you look at their wedding page, they are pretty strict about the musical selections, so I imagine they'll be strict about covering your shoulders.

What is the least formal clothing for a father-of-the-bride to wear when groomsmen are wearing tuxes?

mac01

Wedding is in Deadwood, SD, a 'destination' wedding place. Casinos and really relaxed. However the bride is wearing a formal gown and the groomsmen are wearing tuxedos. Mother of the bride is not formal; wearing a tea length dress; not a 'mother-of-the-bride' dress.
Wedding is at a Hotel and reception is at a restaraunt.

Answer
No sorry. It has to be a tux. You are a member of the wedding party if you are walking her down the aisle. If not, you can dress as a guest.

They are in tuxes, she is formal gown--this is a formal event. Regardless of located in Deadwood SD (a place I have actually been believe it or not. is she doing the western theme?) or NYC.

If the bride is ok with it, you might could get away with a black suit. A nice formal looking, black suit. But a sports coat and slacks?? No way! The pictures are going to have you next to the bride. You up front at the alter giving her away, right next to the bridal party. A sports coat would only be ok if it was a casual wedding--bride in a destination wedding gown and groomsmen in linens and looking cuban.

I have already put a majority of my list together (Just waiting on my Fiance's Mom to give me there side!) What would be the next few things I should start on :)

I would love answers from women who have gone through this already.
Also, we are on a TIGHT budget.
We are planning on getting married January 2012!

ANY advice would be so very helpful!

Answer
Perhaps getting a few things like changing the date to around New years eve will give you more $ since you can file your income taxes as a couple and you will probably save $.
You need to make the budget so you know what you have to work with and start with the venue and the guest list. Start on your gown. This may take months if you order one. Actually most on line wedding dress shops have great selections and good prices. I have heard of rent a wedding dress ideas that charge only around 1/3 of the purchase cost since you will not be getting married again for hopefully several more years, this makes sense. Google wedding gown rentals to find one near you. I found 8 in San Francisco with reviews from Yelp.com that really helps.
BTW, I went to one wedding and the gown was especially stunning. It turned out that she rented the gown. They obviously have a great team to work with you and your body/coloring type.
There are some books that are reader rated on amazon.com that go into what is important and what you can do with a budget to get the most of your money. One is called The Wedding Book: The Big Book for Your Big Day by Mindy Weiss and Lisbeth Levine used for about $20 with excellent reviews.
I always suggest a prenup. Why? life is difficult and marriage is much harder. If you 2 can't get along in making a prenup, you can't deal with the arguments that will come up in your future.
be certain to talk about kids and the kind of religion if any you wish to raise them in and your goals to set aside money for them for college over buying a new car every few years. If you 2 split, how is custody shared? these things, thought out ahead of time makes the time when you need this so much easier and hopefully, you can still remain friends.

Wedding dresses for short plus sized women?

My friend might get married soon and I was wondering what type of dress would look best for her. She is about 5'2 and is about a size 20 so she is a little bigger. She is bigger waist down has a very big bust. Im not doing this to be rude I'm just trying to find answers so she knows what to try on when we go dress shopping.

Answer
An A-line style will likely be the best, they are the most forgiving in the stomach area. Next would be a ball gown. My cousin was 5 months pregnant when she got married (she was planning the wedding before she was pregnant) and she wore an A-Line dress and you couldn't even tell she was pregnant.

I would also have her check out corset shops to help with body shapers, body shapers work great! But some are god awful uncomfortable, which is why I'm recommending a corset shop instead of buying one off the rack, they can custom make one. Yes, they cost a little more, but they fit a lot better!

I was once her size (I'm 5'0" weighed 230, my stomach was my "big" area and I have a big bust, I'm 135 now, my stomach is still my problem and I still have a big bust).

I can tell you from personal experience that she will need to be sure before she goes looking that these bridal shops will have dresses she can actually TRY ON! Many do not for plus sized women, but if you call and make an appointment they usually will try to accomodate you and have them on hand.

If you have a David's Bridal near you, I would really recommend going to them, they have a huge selection in wedding dresses for plus sized women, they have the most to choose from of any designer for that, and they are very nice. Just as an FYI: David's bridal is expensive on their alterations, you may want to find someone else for that.

I was in my brothers wedding, and when we went to get fitted for the dresses, the bride was also a plus size and they didn't "really" have dresses for us to try on that fit. Mine was a special case that I was getting fitted for a dress in Feb/March, having bariatric surgery in June and then the wedding was in October, since we knew I'd weigh less but not how much my dress was ordered a few sizes smaller than what fit for me the day of the fitting, it still had to be taken in more.

Also, formal wear is not very forgiving on sizes, they run very small. A size 20 dress in normal apparel is a 28-30 in wedding apparel. I had sticker/size shock when I figured that out.

What style of wedding dress is flattering for my body?

pixie_vixe

I recently got engaged, and even though the wedding is a bit off, I would like to start looking for a dress now since I understand it is a time consuming process sometimes. I would like to know what would be most flattering for me. I have a very large bust (42 DDD) and many say it is unproportional to the rest of my body. I have recently gained weight, and wear a size 14-15, but up untill recently I have been somewhere between 10-13. So I am not very large, but not tiny either. What style (bodice, waist, sleeve, skirt, train etc) would be most slimming and supportive for my chest? I like lace up front corset tops, but having trouble finding them anywhere.

Answer
I have a 40DD bust and I look good in a halter neck gown, especially one with a v-neck:
http://www.alfredangelo.com/index.cfm/fuseAction/COLLECTIONS.productDetail/fromAdvancedSearch/0/productID/7d754c0c-9efb-4745-92d1-84dde261eb80/categoryID/1af402e9-205f-4b7b-9d22-6fec77b3d187

An off the shoulder gown with some coverage on the arms is also a really good look:
http://www.alfredangelo.com/index.cfm/fuseAction/COLLECTIONS.productDetail/fromAdvancedSearch/0/productID/9f1d71bb-48e6-4e74-827c-7ac490c0f34f/categoryID/1af402e9-205f-4b7b-9d22-6fec77b3d187

I really like gowns with sheer sleeves and a deep v-neck that you can wear a regular bra with:
http://www.alfredangelo.com/index.cfm/fuseAction/COLLECTIONS.productDetail/fromAdvancedSearch/0/productID/0da8b75e-d78b-4b69-b2fa-e7cfc8c1c313/categoryID/1af402e9-205f-4b7b-9d22-6fec77b3d187

If you are going to wear a gown that requires a strapless bra make sure you get a good one. Also, you don't want a backless bra, once your cup size gets above a D backless is not attractive. I wear a Goddess long line and it holds up the goods pretty well:
http://www.biggerbras.com/goddess-full-figure-plus-size-bras/gds-689.shtml

The train isn't that important, it's more what you want because they all pretty much look the same when you wear it. The skirt isn't as important as the bodice. Pretty much any skirt except maybe mermaid should work for you.

The best advice that I can give you is go and try on gowns. Try on alot of different types of dresses until you find something that looks good on you. Don't get caught up by the little details of the dress, don't buy something because you like the beading. It's more important that the gown looks good on you, not that the lace is nice. You really have to look at yourself in the gown and make sure that it's flattering. Make sure it's not too tight, there's nothing worse than seeing all of brides rolls around her middle. Also if you go with strapless make sure there aren't any rolls hanging out over the top, very unattactive.

Another thing you might want to consider is a bridesmaids dress in a lighter color. Separates might work for you with your large bra size and you can do separates a little easier in bridesmaids dresses, and they're usually less expensive. Although, most bridesmaids gowns don't have a train.

Q. I am very fat, it is very difficult for me to choose a wedding dress that fit me very well, help me, pleaseï¼

Answer
Most designers carry plus sized wedding gowns that are very beautiful.

Overall an empire waistline usually works well with plus sized women, as do A-Line.

Try looking at some styles online and then find out if some local bridal shops have them.

Also, when you call a bridal shop be sure to ask them if they have dresses you can actually try on. When my brother was getting married I was in his wedding and at the time I was a plus size, so was his now wife and it was hard for us finding a place who had a dress we could actually try on only "similar styles" of dresses she liked.

What is the best color dress for some one of classic ivory skin tone?

I like blue, red, and off white.

will any of these colors due it so is there a specific type of red, blue or off white?

and are there other color too?

Answer
stay away from white tones, they'll wash you out when under any kind of light.

blues are okay if used in moderation. remember, no one likes to look like a giant blue berry! lol

but the tone that suits you best is a reddish tone. not too bold and not too orangey. just apply a little concealer to make sure your ivory skin tone doesnt look flushed (reddish) and im sure you'll like great.

my fiance an i have been together for a while, but i recently got a good job and now i will be able to save up for a decent wedding, we are hoping for september 09.. any suggestions.

Answer
our wedding is sept 20th of this year. we were going to have it next year bcse of costs. i was able to save us enough to have it this year.
here are some of the things i did, and have suggested many times on here...

first off- shop after holiday clearance sales at craft stores, michaels and ac moore, and places like walmart, target and kmart. i got things on christmas clearance for 75-95% off- votive candles in glass holders for $.40 each!

i can set you up with a great lady who is making my invites. she does package deals (any size you will need) and a la carte - you will save tons with her. i'm getting 75 invites, evelopes, thank you scrolls, rsvp postcards, folded thank you cards and evelopes and address labels for under $90

rings- shop jc pennys when they have sales, look for coupons...
or ebay and craigslist. really don't be afraid of ebay. shop sellers with 99 or 100% feedback only. i'm getting my ring for under $25 (stainless band that matchs my engagement ring) and his for under $50 (tungsten).

transportation- use a relatives nice auto or use your own. you DON'T nee a limo, you can even rent a big suv for the day for near nothing from most rental co's (budget hertz alamo)

dress- shop consignment shops. my dress cost $150 and is awesome. look on craigslist and ebay too. what ever size you end up being (i have faith you will lose weight!) you will find a beautiful dress!

bm dresses- these have dresses under $100
http://www.bridalsassique.com/index.asp?...
http://www.bridesonlinestore.com/
you can also try looking at prom dresses and homecoming dresses in macys and jcpenneys. most of them look like bm dresses anymore, it will increase your selection by looking for those 3 types instead of just bm dresses

guys clothing- they don't need to tux it up. they can wear white shirts and tan slacks. or white shirts and dark slacks and a tie... make sure they are all bought at the same time so they match.

flowers- you can shop local flower stores or grocery store floral dpts (make your own if you like) bring pics of what you want to guide your florist. shop rite has a full service flower dpt and they offer wedding planning help too. or you can go the silk route. afloral.com has great flowers. that's who i went to for mine

centerpieces- i like the tall vases with topiary style arrangements on them. i love gerberas so i think using them is a great way to punch up color and keep your budget down
you can also get different vases (walmart super cheap) and have different looks on each table.

food- shop around for a reception site that does in house catering or a caterer that has a great rep and great menu
sticking with pasta and chicken is a good way to keep bellies and purses full
or if you diy the food. make things that if you do the day before or few days before... veggies, mashed potatoes, pasta... easily reheatable things that can be put on a buffet line

ceremony location- i'm all for outdoor weddings. i think being surrounded by nature is just beautiful and makes for awesome pictures. plus most are free or really cheap.
i'm getting married in a park and it only cost $5 for the application fee. no charge to bring in chairs tents etc...

reception locations- you can have it at a vfw, moose/elk lodge or fire house banquet hall. they are nicer now that ever... they realize how much revenue they generate so many/most have been updated in the last few years.
we are using the banquet hall of the fire house where we are memebers. it only cost us $275 to rent. $500 for non members. (they do open bar. cash bar. cater. or let you diy the food)

cake- look at bjs and costco, even walmart does wedding cakes now. don't forget grocery stores. most do wedding cakes and are rather tasty cakes. you might not get all the flavor choices of a bakery but most ppl go with white or chocolate anyway.
we are getting our cake from shop rite ($1.75 a serving compared to $3.50 someone else quoted me) i love s/r cakes and have had many a b-day cake from them when i was younger.

favors- you really don't need them if you are trying to save money. but... you can do organza bags filled with candies. shop ebay for the best prices, seller ideabus, has the best prices and selection
or try dipping the ends of pretzle rods in white, dark or milk chocolate. then roll the ends (or sprinkle) with jimmies, colored sugar crystals, crushed nuts, mini marshmallows... or what ever else floats your fancy. put them in celophane bags and tie off with a ribbon to match your colors. super easy and people love things they can snack on on the way home from the reception.

photographer- look on craigslist for your area, under services, type in photography and see the results. i found a great gal for mine $300 for 6 hrs. some places charge wayyyy more but you should be able to find a good one for under 1k
i also found someone who wants to build her portfolio so she's shooting the whole day for free. if we like any prints we can order a la carte for super cheap.

you might be able to find a dj service on craigslist too. or just call around for a good rate from someone with referrals

Everything To Know On A Carnival Cruise?

JJ

On the 24th, I'm Going On The Carnival Paradise For A 3 Day Cruise To Mexico. This Is My First Cruise. How Much Is The Fountain Fun Card? Are The Rooms Really That Small? How Many Electrical Plugs Are There In The Rooms? Please Include Any Obvious Things Like Dress Codes And Anything That You Think Is Important

Answer
On the Paradise all the staterooms with the exception of the expensive suites are the same size. The are around 170 sq. ft. Which is really a lot bigger then some of the other cruiselines. Some ships in other cruiselines have cabins as small as 108 sq. ft. So you will have plenty of room. The storage space is nice, and you can also put your suitcase under the bed. Where you are located is dependant on what category you purchased. A category 4A is inside on Riverea deck which is the least expensive cabin .. up to a cat 4E which is the highest inside category. ALL cabins are the same just different levels on the ship. Oceanview cabins start at 6A on Riverea up to 6D on Empress deck..again same size as the inside cabins just these have windows.

The fountain card is about 6.00 per day plus gratuity, so for a 3 day cruise you are talking around 18.00 plus 15% gratuities. If you drink a lot of sodas it could be worth it, but they do serve Iced tea, fruit punch or lemon aid, water, coffee and milk at no additional charge. The soda card is for fountain sodas only, so you would not be able to order from room service, they would bring you a canned soda and charge around $1.50 plus 15% gratuties for it, up to $2.50 for bottled sodas. Carnival serves Coke product. What we do is usually carry a small cooler on with us with a mixture of soft drinks and bottled water. Carnival will allow this if you dont plan on carrying 2 or3 cases. Plan on about a 6 pack per person.

There is one electrical outlet in each stateroom located in the area of the desk/vanity. The outlet is equipped with a 3-prong 110 volt and a 220 volt plug. The outlet in the bathroom can only be used for electric razors. There are no hair dryers on the Paradise, so you will want to bring one if you use it. Irons are forbidden on all Carnival Ships.

There will be one formal night on your cruise, you can dress up as much as you want...Think prom. formal wedding etc..this is not madatory, but hey its fun to dress up and have your picture done. The dining room at night does not allow shorts, tank tops, swim suits and used to be jeans, but they are getting more relaxed about this if they are decent. Women can wear a nice set of capris, or sun dresses etc..dress like you would dress if you were going out to a nice dinner at home.

Dont bother packing beach towels or pool towels they are provided. Also Carnival Bathrobes will be provided in each stateroom on the Paradise for you use. (they are wonderful)

You will need to set up your on board account when you board the ship. You can do this with a credit card, debit card (keep in mind they will put a hold on your card and not release it until all charges clear approximately 72 hours after cruise is over..so if you put up $200.00 and charge $200.00 they will hold this, clear the charges, then release the balance. You can also put cash on your account:
3 day cruise: $150-$200 pp

I hope this helps...enjoy your cruise!!

What would be good colors for the Mother of the Bride and Groom to wear?

My bridesmaid are going to be wearing black dresses and carry white flowers. SO that is pretty much the theme for my wedding I guess. But my mother wasn't very sure on what color she should wear she doesn't want to wear black or white for the obvious reasons so what color would look good on them for this day? Also MOG is having the same issue she doesn't want to clash with the bridesmaid dresses in the pictures so what color should each wear and should their dress colors be similar?

Answer
Silver or pale pastel colors such as light blue, pink or pale yellow would look absolutely beautiful.Something floral would also be nice just stay away from colors that are too outrageous such as big chunks of red, bright yellow, orange.
Or she could wear something very sophisticated and feminine such as a pale pink dress with a off white strappy heels or pumps and a small red clutch bag. she will be able to carry this look both in the evening and day time as pink feminine enough to ear during the day whereas the simple splash of red adds confidence and vitality to the ensemble.
Or perhaps a silk dark blue dress with a cream pumps/heels with silver accessories add to the contrast theme within your wedding.
I wish you the best of luck with your wedding and hope my answer helped.

What color dress should I wear to the wedding?

I'm the step-mother of the groom. Bride's colors are pear green and lavender. Groom is wearing light tan suit and groomsmen are wearing a darker tan and lavender shirts. Mother of the bride is wearing a lavender dress. Grooms mom is wearing an ivory print dress. What colors would be complimentary but not too much like the existing colors?

Answer

What color of tux to go with knee length wedding dress?

dress color pool

Puddin Pop

My wedding dress is ivory colored and my colors are pool (light blue) and soft yellow, like an canary. I was thinking it would look nice for my fiance to wear a ivory colored tux with a pool colored vest and tie, with possible no vest at all. The wedding is this summer outside. So Im not sure if the best would be ivory tux with pool tie, (matches bridesmaids), or go with the simple and casual black tux. Thanks!

Answer
Tuxedos are evening wear--no good for day weddings. "Matching" is also a bad idea. Men's formalwear is based on subdued elegance, not bright matching colors.

Unless you want to get into day formalwear:
http://www.blacktieguide.com/Supplemental/Morning_Dress.htm

suits are your best bet. Seersucker is always a good bet for summer:

http://www.josbank.com/JAB_Partner.process?Section_Id=1000&Product_Id=446587&p_Id=3&link_Id=2&CAWELAID=323725860

and a tailor can make a bought suit fit infinitely better than a rental. Tie color is up to you, but try to coordinate instead of matching.

My friend are going to be a pair of flip-flops for Halloween. What color should we paint them?

Scott C

It probably depends on what color the pool noodles are. ( We use pool noodles for the straps of the flip-flops.) We use cardboard, or whatever we find,to make the shape of the flip-flop and we don't know what color to paint it. Any good combinations of colors? Thanks!

Answer
ha ha thats so funny..iv never heard of anyone who's dressed up as flip flops.it a cool idea...sound like yis are up for the craic so why not go mad with pink and purple and throw some glitter and afew sparkies on em!!!

Plus size ladies............ I just need to vent!!!!!!!!!!!!?

plus size wedding gowns size 34 image

I'm Marrie

Hello everyone! I just need to vent. I'm getting married in September and I still do not have a dress. The problem is I'm a size 22 but my bust is HUGE and for that reason I can not fit into a wedding dress. I luv my friend and she is a size 34 pants and she went and fit a dress size 26 with no problem, but she is also pear shape.

You ladies know wedding dresing run small especially up top. I can't even get a 26 sized up! I'm so stressed, I have already lost 25lbs. I work out 4-5 days a week. I know I will always be plus size "Size Sexy"! That is not the issue I luv having curves! It's just that I'm so depressed and not feeling sexy, pretty or anything.

The weight will not come off. I have even considered cancelling the wedding and going to the JOP and wear a pants suit. I've put so much money and time into this wedding and for it to fall apart because I don't have a dress is killing me.

Thanks for listening! I really just needed to vent!
IamMARE- I hear you it seems like my boobs have gotten bigger too. I think it's from doing the chest strenght training it builts mulscue(sp?)
MissLiss- Thanks your a doll!

Everyone Thanks for your ideas! I will start looking to find someone to hopefully make a gown for me.

Answer
Oh, it's a justified venting!
I'm a BBW, too, and thought for sure before I went gown shopping that I'd have to have something made, or just wear something relatively unattractive. However, it was just a matter of going into the right bridal shop at the right time I suppose - next biggest city close to where I was living, little bridal boutique. There was a lovely, very traditional gown - long sleeves, scoop neck, basque waist, cathedral train - beautiful embellishments, whole thing overwhelmed me, much more beautiful than I thought I could ever wear! It was a 24, bigger than I usually wore (just ignore the darned tags) - but the zip wouldn't zip. I started crying.
Luckily, the smart saleslady went and got the seamstress from the back who totally reassured me this was no problem at all - she could put inserts under each arm, enough so the bodice could zip comfortably. AND she did, and it was AMAZING - you could barely tell she added material, the inserts were a long v-shape tapering down from each underarm. My gown was heavy bridal satin, and the fabric for the inserts was a perfect match, with the sewing practically invisible.
The alterations cost less than $100. The gown itself was just under 800.
I wish you all the best, and hope you find something which makes you sparkle as the beautiful woman you are!
Here are some ideas -

This next site doesn't let me give individual links for the gowns - look for 1448w, 1575w, 1602w, 1995w -

Can this Wedding Dress be to good to be true?

silvir00

I found this dress on e-bay and I am a little hesitant to buy it. I have read the reviews and they all sound good. I even Goggled the company and found good reviews. Has a anyone ever ordered from HEIPHY? I need a 32-34 plus size dress. I went to David's Bridal tried on a size 26 it was about 10 inches from closing in the back. She said i could order a size 30 and they could put a corset in the back but that's going to be $800 when all said and done. If I order this dress it has 4 inch seam allowance and my mom can let it out or take it in if it is too big. Any advice??

for the person who said it was out dated maybe i should have said I am almost 35 years old. I don't want a strapless young girls dress

Answer
First off, I understand you wanting a formal, traditional gown - I did, too, and was so worried I wouldn't find one - I needed a 26. I was lucky to find a 24 at a bridal shop, and the seamstress put in vee-shaped panels under either arm so it would zip! She did an amazing job; the gown was in heavy bridal satin, and her work was invisible.
That said, the style you have chose is very flattering - especially the basque waist! It's very similar to what mine was, and I was 28 when we got married.
Ok, two things about the dress on eBay - I think it depends on two things - if you have the time and the money to spare. The time - lots of time before the wedding to still be able to find something else in case this doesn't work out. The money - in case the purchase falls through, can you afford to just suck up loosing that amount of money.
That said, my gown was just under 800, and with alterations, tiara and veil, it was a thousand.
So if those two match your circumstances, I would go for it. You just may end up with your dream wedding dress!
I wish you luck!

I am going to a wedding with my boyfriend. I don't know these people, they are his friends and I am going as his guest.

I have a black dress with polka dots, it looks modern despite the description.
Also brown chocolate-colored heels.

Is it okay to wear dark colors to a wedding?

Answer
It is never okay to wear black at a wedding, unless it is specifically a black and white wedding.

What color heels should i wear with a black dress and what color jewelry?

Alicia

I have a semi formal party to go to tomorrow and I have this all black dress it's a tight fit, it go's a little over the knee and it sleeveless the only color shoes i have to go with are black heels and champagne heels which one would look better and and what color jewelry should i wear?
Thanks for the help :)

Answer
Black is neutral, so I'd just go with whichever pair of shoes are sexier (since a past-the knee simple black dress could use some sexing up). Silver jewlery is more festive, but it reallyd epends more on the pieces then whether or not they are silver or gold. Either could work.

I am wearing a black and white geometric print satiny dress to a wedding. I was thinking of wearing a red belt around the dress and then red patent peep toe pumps. Any other ideas? What color jewelry would you suggest if I do go with the red shoes and jewelry?

Answer
If you are accessorizing with red then the red pumps will do. But don't rule out black either.

I'm not sure if peep toes are the best choice in red. You may want to consider a closed toe as well.

Jewelry should be red but I think you should keep it simple.

Look at this pump and see if you think it might match your dress. It combimes black and white colors together.

What Colour shoes to wear with a red dress?

Cindy

I've got a floor length floaty chiffon style red dress and am not sure about what colour heels to wear with it. The dress will cover most of them and I haven't brought any accessories yet so don't worry about the colour clashing with them.
Thanks in advance :)

Answer
Normally, I don't like totally matchy accessories but in this case, I think it would look much more sophisticated. So I would wear black patent heels with black sparkly jewelry and a black clutch bag. A double string of 18" pearls with a black bow at the clasp could look terrific, too. Or, I'd wear all metallic gold or all metallic silver--whichever you prefer.

btw, Tyler may have been kidding--idk. But if the dress is a true red, pink accessories can actually look fantastic. You'd look awesome with any of these 4 options!! : P

How do you feel about color on a wedding dress?

Q. What do you think of dresses with color in them. Like wedding dresses with a colored sash, dresses with colored borders, colored trim, etc?

Or do you think wedding dresses should always be completely white?

Answer
I want to get married in red, so I am all for color on a wedding dress.

The bride wearing white is a fashion choice. It has nothing to do with her purity or lack of it. If that was the case the market for white dresses would be much smaller.

The bride's attire is her choice. As long as it makes you look and feel amazing, it is up to you what you wear. The only exception would be if you were getting married in a house of worship. There you would have to get a dress that is respectful of their rules.

What should I wear to a Korean Wedding?

SC

My close cousin is having a wedding. It's a korean wedding with all korean ppl. I was thinking a navy blue dress suit. Is that too dark or will I offend ppl? The wedding is in September.

Answer
A navy dress suit would be fine as long as it doesn't resemble a uniform. If you are worried about the dark color being associated with mourning of someone recently deceased, the color white is traditionally the color of mourning in Korea as well as China. For some ideas, I have included a link to a Korean Fashion website:

Have a great time. The food at Korean weddings is the bomb. Try the jopchae (clear noodles)

Answer
Yayayayay!! It a while, but I think I found the same exact dress. I've only found it online. But with a little more research, I'm sure you can find it off line as well if you want. Here are two websites I found it on:
http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/23108358/WHOLESALE_IMPORTED_WEDDING_GOWN.html (scroll all the way down)

http://www.bridaldresswholesale.com/bestsale2.html (3rd one down, right column)

By the way, a helpful tidbit for finding it off line is by using the dress number: wswd066. Every dress has its own unique number, like a SSN.

This color combination for a wedding.?

My fiance really likes the color of peridot green and I just love the color of Amethsyt. We were thinking about using these as our wedding colors. But somebody told me that they would look horrendous together. Is this true and what do you think about this color combo.
Plus any ideas on how I could possibly use these colors in the wedding party and reception hall.

Answer
I think the colors look great together. I am considering a very similar color palette. Try Googling "purple and green wedding" and look at Google images and see what comes up.

Here are some pictures that I have bookmarked:

I think it'd be lovely to have the bridesmaids in purple carrying either mostly green flowers but maybe with a hint of purple and maybe a hint berry. Although I have seen pictures of the bridesmaids wearing light green dresses and carrying purple flowers and that looked lovely too. But I think the girls would rather wear purple gowns than green gowns?
