help with dress color?

Olivea

alright im the maid of Honor at my moms wedding.
and her wedding colors are blue and light yellow.
i have to get my own dress she says she doesnt care what color it is
(blue or yellow)
what color should i choose the a blue or yellow?
and were would be a good place to get my dress?
Oh she also said i can wear converse if i like because i dont like heels what color should i get of converse?
im seventeen btw

Answer
I would definetly go for a light yellow/beige. But if your mom is wearing a peach dress or something, go for a blue because you don't want to look the same. Try David's Bridal, they have good buy's and some local dress shops. Also, maybe consider flats instead of Converse?? lol, if not, get Converse that sorta match the dress color. here are a few options.

something like this if you're still considering converse; http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998973&colorName=Capri&subCategory=-49998976|-49998975|-49998973&top_category=&catentryId=6097195

dresses regardless of the shoe: http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998973&colorName=Capri&subCategory=-49998976|-49998975|-49998973&top_category=&catentryId=6096972 (and try the yellow mustardy color)

http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998973&colorName=Capri&subCategory=-49998976|-49998975|-49998973&top_category=&catentryId=6096972

http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998974&currentIdx=1&subCategory=-49998976|-49998975|-49998974&catentryId=6110567&sort=

http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49998974&currentIdx=18&subCategory=-49998976|-49998975|-49998974&catentryId=6097397&sort=

Oh, BTW all the dresses are meant to be in a light bluish color, but when you click the link it doesn't show that, so you have to click the color options on the side to see what it looks like.

What to wear with beige/orangey dress and what colours?! :)?

Goodbye

I posted this before but got an immature answer so here goes again...

So I'm wearing this beige/orangey dress (paste ''Beige marl tribal embroidered dress'' into google and you'll see what it looks like!) tomorrow, my bestfriend bought it for me so I want to look good when I wear it.
BUT I don't know what colour(s) to wear it with... And I don't know what to wear with it too, you see I don't want to show any flesh meaning arms & legs are going to be covered.
If it's any help, I'm 18, asian, short, with a tanny/brown complexion! I hate high heels, love converse! which brings me to my next question... should I wear my leather high top two-strap converse OR my navy ox converse?! I'm not really girly and fussy over what I wear as long as it's comfy and sorta stylish
Please help me and thanks in advance :)

Answer
I noticed that there are navy blue accents in the dress, so I would reccommend wearing a navy blue cropped blazer if you want to be more covered; ex: http://www.maurices.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13219861&CAWELAID=1640058912&cagpspn=pla&KPID=13405671
I would advise you to not wear anything to cover your legs, or it will look overly layered and heavy.

Wear the navy shoes, it will tie the outfit together.
Hope this helps :)

Help On Wedding Dress Color?

Mercedes

Hi everyone,
I'm helping my brothers fiancé plan her wedding and she's decided on not wearing white considering the fact she's not a virgin. However, she'd like an "off-white" kinda color.
What would be a good recommendation?

She has a soft ivory skin tone and strawberry blond hair if that helps. She also had a pear body. Large hips. I'd like to help her find a color and a shape for her body.
Any suggestions?

Answer
Her choices for off-whiteish are going to be soft white, cream, ivory, or champagne (designers may have different names for these colors). However, nowadays it's normal for a non virgin to wear white. For shapes, she should try on different silhouettes to determine what looks good on her and what she likes. If you look up shapes that will look good on pear shaped women, you will most likely find ball gown and A line.

Champagne colored wedding dress?

Julie R

I am looking for a Champagne colored wedding dress.
I prefer a halter style dress with either no train or sweep train only. I am going mad looking at all the dresses, could use some fresh perspective on this one. Our wedding is in July. Thanks

Answer
Echoing missmojo78. If you can find an experienced seamstress, you can have a gorgeous custom-fit wedding dress run up for the price of a store-bought gown. Vogue Patterns has hundreds of wedding dress patterns, some from top designers. But you'll have to get cracking and find someone soon if you go this way.

Wedding Dresses w/ long sleeves!?!?

Mandi

I have been looking online for a wedding dress w/ long sleeves. I like simple and elegant. I am plus sized. I would like pics. Even if the dress isn't plus size, i would just like to find some ideas!!! What are some websites that would have them on there?

Answer
http://www.wedding-dress-gowns.com/weddingdresseswithsleeves-p-271.html

I think the last one on page 3 is gorgeous!
http://www.latterdaybride.com/modest_wedding_gowns.php?pg=1&style=14

There are a lot of long sleeves through here but you will have to search all the pages as there are many. All have at least some sleeve.
http://www.eternitystore.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=4

Same with this one
http://www.totallymodest.com/gowns.html

These are beautiful!!!
http://www.bridalonlinestore.com/store/7011.asp

A couple more
http://www.weddingdressdiscount.com/long-sleeve-dresses.htm

One thing I would like to say and it may have just been mine, but I had sleeves added to a strapless dress once and they just buttoned onto the dress. Well after a couple hours of dancing and I guess pulling on it too much the button snapped off and I was left with a sleeve hanging. I don't know how David's Bridal sleeve options work but I would be weary if they are just button ons. Also the bolero jackets sort of add bulk to the upper body where bottom hem of the jacket sits. So I would at least try one on at a local bridal shop even if you don't buy from there just to see how you like it before you order one off the internet if you were thinking of going that route. Good luck searching!

Wedding dress with Sleeves....?

S i r i

anyone wearing a wedding dress WITH sleeves
these days? when is the strapless look
going OUT?

Answer
I got married this past February. I had 3/4 lace sleeves on my dress. I really didn't want to wear anything strapless because I don't like my arms. I loved my dress - and suprisingly it was easy for me to find when I went looking in the stores. I thought that I was going to have a problem with that...the dress fit me and my personality, so that's what was important.
Do you plan on wearing one with sleeves?

Am I throwing my money away on $490 wedding dress?

Eschew Obf

I'm only going to wear it once, and it's such a lot of money for one item of clothing.
It would be custom made, so there wouldn't be any additional alteration costs.

Answer
wedding dresses are 90% profit because of the vanity involved, and the fact that dress makers know it. Why not just rent one? You can spend what you save on the dress somewhere else.
Men have been renting tuxedos for years, why not wedding dress rental for women? This isn't as far fetched as it may sound. In addition to buying a wedding dress, most brides have to contend with preserving and storing the wedding dress. With a wedding dress rental, all the bride has to do is choose the dress, wear it, and return in within the allotted time period. She doesn't even have to worry about the dry cleaning.

[edit]Pros
Money -With a wedding dress rental, you'll be spending a lot less money. Many thousand dollar wedding dresses will rent for only a couple of hundred dollars. In fact, many rental businesses offer packages that include veil, shoes and jewelry. If buying these items individually is something that causes you worry, you'll want to consider a wedding dress rental. The money saved can be put towards other aspects of the wedding, or to save up for a new house.
Maintenance â The last thing any bride wants to worry about upon returning home from her honeymoon is cleaning and preserving her wedding dress. With a wedding dress rental, this is the least of your worries. Once you're through with the dress you can return it. The cleaning is handled by the rental business.
Destination Weddings â Renting a destination wedding dress will save you from having to lug a heavy suit bag on a plane. Many places famous for destination weddings such as Las Vegas or Hawaii have many wedding rental shops to choose from.
Space â If you have limited storage space, a rental helps to eliminate the issue of where to store your wedding dress.
[edit]Cons
Selection â You won't have the same options available for a wedding dress rental. You have to rent one of the dresses already in stock.
Size - In many cases you won't be able to make alterations and can only choose a gown in your size. If the dress of your dreams doesn't fit properly, you'll have to find a different one. If the rental location does offer alterations, it's a separate charge.
Care â While you won't have to pay for dry cleaning, you will have to take special care. If you cause damage to the dress you may be expected to pay for the repairs. If the dress is damaged beyond repair, you'll have to purchase it outright.
Impersonal â If you go for a wedding dress rental, you lose the ability to be able to
save your dress and pass it on to someone special.

Planning a wedding and need help!?

Jami W

I'm in the very early stages of planning a wedding. My budget is $10,000 and from what I have been hearing and looking at, that amount of money just isn't going to get me very far. I'm thinking of just going to Hawaii to get married instead. Am I wrong about the money not getting me very far? Any suggestions? What would you do?

Answer
Hi and congratulations!

Your budget is definitely doable. There are others on here who have planned a wedding for 1/2 of that! The question that you and your fiance need to ask yourselves is "what is my idea of a wedding?" You will not be able to do the big huge dress, biggest fanciest reception venue, many attendants and guests. Obviously, you are already aware of that. However, you CAN have a very nice wedding with your budget....you will just need to be very frugal and willing to go "outside the box" on things.

~ Two BIG ways to save is to have a SMALL wedding; say 75-100 guests MAX! The second way is to have a SMALL wedding party....just a maid of honor and best man, maybe a flower girl if you really want.

~ There are so many ways to save -- you just need to decide what is important and what you can cut. Everything from your gown to the photographer can come in cheaper if you look around and go "outside the box."

~ The first thing is for you and your fiance to PRIORITIZE what you want....get prices...and then see what you can cut. If you are wanting a $1,000 gown....well then that only leaves $9,000 for everything else.

The biggest portion of a wedding budget is the reception so that is the biggest area where savings can add up! Cost compare everything! Everything is dependent on location, location, location! You will not be able to afford the "best" venue. But you can look at VFW Halls, Knights of Columbus Halls, cheaper hotels like Holiday Inn or Best Western. The hotels will be able to provide food. The other places should have kitchen facilities where you can bring in your own or have it catered.

~ Another big way to save on your reception would be to have it outside at a park or in someone's home or backyard.

~ Do you belong to a church? That is another option. Most churches have Fellowship Halls you can use.

~ Other options are to not do the "traditional" dinner thing. Why not have a MORNING wedding with a brunch reception? This would be a HUGE savings and would be very different and unique. OR....have a late morning wedding and a lunch reception. Again, the savings could really add up.

~ OR...don't serve a meal at all! Have a "dessert reception" with a variety of desserts, champagne, coffee and punch. You can even do a "coffee bar" if you want. Very elegant and much less costly than the "traditional" reception. If you go this way, you can only do it at certain times (not a meal time). You could have a 2 p.m. wedding with a dessert reception following....or say an evening wedding....7:30 p.m. with a dessert reception following.

~ Your dress: Look at places like David's Bridal, JCPenney, etc.

~ Your wedding party - keep it small. This is a big savings...not only in terms of "stress", but in terms of attendants gifts, extras at the rehersal dinner, etc. It ALL adds up!

~ Invitations: Buy the "boxed sets" from stores like Michael's, Target, and Walmart. These sell for around $25 and there are 50 in a box.

~ Flowers: Do you know of anyone who is good at arranging flowers? If so, ask for assistance. If not, go to a florist in a grocery store! They are trained designers and they will be chaper than a regular florist.

~ Cake: The same with the cake, go to a bakery in a grocery store...cheaper than a regular bakery. Do you live by a Walmart, Sam's Club or Publix? They have really good cakes.

~ Centerpieces: Do something really simple and elegant. A glass bowl or vase, filled with some "vase gems" and a couple of floating candles. Everything is available at dollar stores, Walmart, etc. Total cost for a centerpiece - about $3-$4/each.

~ Photographer: Do NOT scrimp on a photographer!

~ Favors - I urge every bride to NOT do favors. No one notices or cares. This is a HUGE waste. If you really think you need something....go with a few Hershey Kisses in a mesh bag.

~ Don't waste money on "table cameras" either! These are usually not used very much, and if they are, people only take silly pictures.

There are endless ways to save. Go on other websites to see what other brides have done! Here is a good site:
www.frugalbride.com

Also...contact others who post on here:

Bride2Be
04/26/08
is one...I know she is doing her wedding for about the same (or maybe less) and it sounds so nice. She is having an 11 a.m. wedding at a country club and a lunch after.

Also:
Mathie
She is going to the justice of the peace and then having a reception for about 80 people in a private room of a restaurant.

I am sure they would be willing to tell you the breakdown of their budgets.

Good luck!

What color jewelry do you wear with a brown & black cocktail dress?

I was thinking bronze, but I have not been able to find anything dressy enough.

Try some amber jewelry, or something with tigers eye. Copper would also be good.

I don't know what to do about my bridesmaids dresses?

AMOF

I'm renewing my vows and having my first wedding party . I'm paying for my bridesmaids dresses and the although I have a few issues with dresses my main one is with one of my bridesmaids. I can't seem to find a dress in her size that is in my price range. She is a plus size and happens to be my sister in law. The place I'm looking at for my dresses stops at 8X. I don't know if I should raise my price range to accommodate her but even then there is a chance it still might not fit her while hurting my budget. Should I tell her she can't be a bridesmaid and maybe have her read a passage with a different dress that way I only spend more on her dress instead of all of them and she still gets to participate? Please help.

Answer
Does she already know that you have chosen her as part of the wedding party? If not than I think having her read something would be fine, but if she has already asked, I don't think that the change of plans would go over well. Her are some different options. Depending on how far away your renewal of vows is, you could pick out a material, order in bulk and have all the dresses made, either all the same pattern, or different patterns for each girl, but in the same material. Same option with buying...you could make sure they are all the same color (this is what I did at my wedding and it looked great), but different styles for each girl. Or last but not least, if you want them all too match and you don't have the time to have all the dresses made, buy the ones for the girls that you can find the appropriate sizes for and then find a matching material and have the one dress made for the one you can't find the correct size for.

Best of luck hun! It'll be fine the day of no matter what you do! Congrats on renewing your vows. What an exciting time!

How to have an inexpensive wedding?

First time

were can I find a nice plus size dress. doesn't have to be a wedding dress.. or white.. and how much does it cost for your marriage license. I live in Az.

Answer
You could always buy a deb dress instead! No one will know the difference and it won't have the huge price tag! Also try ebay.com or else you could by a pattern and make it yourself!
Other ways of cutting costs without sacrificing too much is to shop around. Shop, shop shop. Its worth the saving. Make your own invitations, get a friend or family member to make your cake, ask one of your bridesmaids to do your hair and make up. Photographers can be expensive so why not buy a few disposible cameras and ask your guests to take your happy snaps? Have a cocktail party (fingerfood) reception or do a buffet. Your family can all pitch in and make a tray or 2 each and it will be lovely. You won't even need a caterer. get married outdoors in a nice park or at the beach. Its free and the atmosphere is beautiful. You will also save money on things like flowers and other decorative pieces because if your out in a garden or something, you won't need them. Seriously you can have a wonderful wedding on a tight budget. The planning will be a little more time consuming but it is so worth it! You just have to be a little bit creative! Best of luck. Hope this helps.

Wedding color combinations?

Emily S

HELP? Please? Seperate into different seasons. Thanks!

Answer
You don't have to go by season but many do. I will try to make a short list. One way to get an idea is to google color wheel and look at it and the colors opposite your main color are accent colors.
Spring---lilac, lavender, violet with pink and olive green (imagine a tea party in an english garden)
Lavender or royal blue with peach and coral
Summer--Pinks, fuchsia with greens/sea foam/turquoise
Fall-Eggplant or latte dresses with fall flowers, peach, orange, rust, gold
Winter--deep teal with cream and a bit of gold, burgundy and gold, rich plum, gold and cream
To most bouquets, not all add a tot of lime green and in some use hypericum berries.

Why is the white dress commonly used for weddings?why not different colors?

Mario

if its stands for purity, wouldn't it be hypocrictical?in some cases now days?

Answer
White has long been accepted as the traditional color of the wedding dress, but wedding gowns were not always white. The marriage of Queen Victoria to her cousin Albert of Saxe- Coburg in 1840 has had more influence on weddings than any other. Queen Victoria put the wheels in motion by marrying in white. Though brides continued to wed in gowns of different colors, white was now set as the color of choice for weddings and has continued ever since. In Godeyâs Ladyâs Book, 1849, this statement was printed: â Custom has decided, from the earliest ages, that white is the most fitting hue, whatever may be the material. It is an emblem of the purity and innocence of girlhood, and the unsullied heart she now yields to the chosen one.â

There is an old poem about how the color of your wedding dress will influence your future: âMarried in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey , you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in red, youâll wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in pearl, youâll live in a whirl. Married in green, ashamed to be seen, Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow. Married in brown, youâll live out of town. Married in pink, your spirits will sink.â

Need help with final fantasy X (boss)?

Fish slapp

Its when your nearlly at bevelle and you saw Yuna in her wedding gown, but theres this dragon and you need to fight it..

I was doing okay until it had around 10000 health left then it casted Haste on itself and things started to get difficult, but heres the part that really annoys me, i died when i got him to 2000 health *sigh* Any good tips for fighting him? cause i dont want to give it a second try without being prepared
by the way, i was using Rikku,Kimahi (soz i spelt his name wrong) and Auron..

is that okay?
Shayna: i was stuck there too :S the key is to when it keeps doing those attacks it fills up overdrive fast (as i remember anyway) so i just kept doing that eventully, it died
ok its called Guardian Wyrm Evrae
I dont have haste! or slow! WAAAAH

Answer
Evrae! That was a fun fight, but it can get really challenging towards the end. It's been ages since I played, but I'll do my best to remember my strategy....

Evrae only casts haste when it gets low on health. First, you need to cast slow on Evrae. Second, caste Haste on everyone in your party. This will buy you plenty of turns for all your characters before it has a chance to act, and help keep up with Evrae after it casts haste. You might want to save any powerful overdrives you have for when Evrae casts haste. Be sure to use Al Bhed potions when it uses poison breath or it's petrifying attack. After you slow it, a good idea is order the ship away from Evrae. When you're far, it can't hit you with many strong attacks until it gets close (And order the ship away again). When you're far, bring Lulu and Wakka in to chip away at it's health. (Bringing Titus is to use cheer over and over will boost Wakka's attack strength as well) And be sure to abuse the ship's missile attacks every chance you get!

The fight doesn't start getting hard until it casts Haste. Once it gets to this point, pull out all of your overdrives and keep a close eye on the turn-meter to see when Evrae attacks. If things look desperate It's safest to assume it's going to use poison breath so be ready to use al bhed potions. If you still can't beat it, then the next best thing you can do is level up more.... But I'm sure you can beat it.

Good luck!

rings- shop jc pennys when they have sales, look for coupons...
or ebay and craigslist. really don't be afraid of ebay. shop sellers with 99 or 100% feedback only

food- shop around for a site that does in house catering or a caterer that has a great rep and great menu
sticking with pasta and chicken is a good way to keep bellies and purses full

ceremony location- i'm all for outdoor weddings. i think being surrounded by nature is just beautiful and makes for awesome pictures. plus most are free or really cheap.

reception locations- you can have it at a vfw, moose/elk lodge or fire house banquet hall. they are nicer now that ever... they realize how much revenue they generate so many/most have been updated in the last few years.

cake- shop bakeries but also shop grocery stores. most do wedding cakes and are rather tasty cakes. you might not get all the flavor choices of a bakery but most ppl go with white or chocholate anyway.

you really don't need them but if you do - favors- you can do organza bags filled with candies. shop ebay for the best prices, seller ideabus, has the best prices and selection

photographer- look on craigslist for your area, under services, type in photography and see the results. i found a great gal for mine $300 for 6 hrs. some places charge wayyyy more but you should be able to find a good one for under 1k

you might be able to do the same for dj services. or just call around for a good rate from someone with referrals

our wedding for about 100 ppl will run us about 2500k, his family is doing our food so that helps.

most important thing about a wedding, budget- STICK TO IT

oh join your local yahoo group freecycle and post what you are looking for. i got lots of wedding things for free.

you can also get different vases (walmart super cheap) and have different looks on each table.

ceremony location- i'm all for outdoor weddings. i think being surrounded by nature is just beautiful and makes for awesome pictures. plus most are free or really cheap.
i'm getting married in a park and it only cost $5 for the application fee. no charge to bring in chairs tents etc...

reception locations- you can have it at a vfw, moose/elk lodge or fire house banquet hall. they are nicer now that ever... they realize how much revenue they generate so many/most have been updated in the

For a bride who is tall and slim, a slinky sheath or mermaid style is the way to go! Look for an interesting neckline, like this wide scoop with spaghetti straps: http://images.della.com/wc/fash/dressimages/Fashion_BridalGown_kare_C7313_456_664.jpg The material is chiffon, which is very light and flowy, and clings in all the right places. Here's a one shoulder style that's also really pretty: http://i.ivillage.com/relationships/wedding/fashion/mermaid/bona_bfw_3011.jpg

Stay away from anything with a super-full ballgown skirt. When you are tall, these tend to be a bit overwhelming- you'll be a "wall of poof". If you want a little volume on the bottom half, opt for either a fuller mermaid style, or a slim a-line. Here's a really cute mermaid style with a layered skirt: http://www.jlmcouture.com/Alvina-Valenta/Bridal/Spring/2009/Style-9913 and here's a really elegant a-line: http://static.houseofbrides.com/files/images/dt/d/d_134199.jpg

As for color, that depends on a few things:

1. Your skin tone. What colors do you look best in? If yellows, oranges, and reds look best on you, try a soft pink or ivory gown. If you tend to wear more blues, purples, and greens, try on white or pale blue gowns. But stay openminded- you might have your heart set on a pure white gown and find one you love in a completely different color!

2. Time of day. A bright sunny outdoor wedding calls for a crisp color, like pure white or ice blue gown in a light fabric like chiffon, linen, or even cotton, while an ivory or pink satin will glow at a candlelit evening affair.

Your gown will set the tone for the rest of the wedding, whether it be simple and chic, classic and romantic, or fun and whimsical. Think about the kind of feel you want for your wedding when deciding on a dress. The best advice I can give you is quit listening to everyone else! lol Your friends and family want you to be happy, but too many opinions can be WAY overwhelming! Also, there is this myth that it will be love at first sight when you find the right gown. It might be, but more than likely it won't. Most brides will try on lots of gowns, and have 1 or 2 they keep thinking about, comparing all the others to, and usually end up buying that one.

Should a non-virgin be able to wear a white-wedding dress if...?

YYYpunk

If she's only been with one man (the man she's going to marry)?

If no, what color of wedding dress should she wear?

Answer
Oh for heaven's sake people! If you're going to cite history at least get it right!!!
Yes, it was Queen Victoria that famously wore a white wedding dress that was soon copied by the masses. The reason she wore white was because at that time the brides wore expensively dyed heavy clothes in purples, reds and other deep colors in velvets and satins.
Queen Victoria was making a statement of austerity by wearing a plain white dress with a few fairly simple (for those days) embellishments of lace. She wanted to relate to the masses and not appear too haughty to lead the people.
It is true that it is later tradition that people tagged the idea of "virginity" to the color white, and that story attached itself to the "white wedding dress."
So, you may wear any color dress you wish. White is currently a tradition so strong that people will overlook any idea that they have about proving that you're a virgin. Besides, there's no opportunity for anyone to file a complaint.
BTW, you can look up the whole history of Queen Victoria wearing white on line. I have no idea where these other folks got their myths from...

needing help & ideas/suggestions on how to have an inexpensive but elegant wedding for under $5000.00?

jenn

Answer
First of all, congratulations!

My wedding budget is $5,000, so I have a few tricks up my sleeve:

Ceremony: Have an early ceremony (around 2 o'clock).

*Your guests will have already have eaten lunch, and won't be expecting a huge meal. You then can serve light food such as finger food and desert.

Wedding dress: I found a beautiful gown at http://www.groupusa.com/ for a little more than $300 (my splurge). They have beautiful gowns by wonderful designers from affordable to extravagent.

*Try places like GroupUSA, David's Bridal, and even eBay for knockout deals.
I just found this eBay store http://myworld.ebay.com/gianinarbridal
One dress is $39! Brand new. Add $89 for shipping from China and you have some knock out deals.

Bridal Jewelry: I found my crystal wedding jewelry at no other than Wal Mart. Originally I had been looking at genuine jewelry from big name stores, but decided to scrimp here to save money for the wedding gifts my fiance' and I plan to get each other.

*Don't forget retail sortes like Wal Mart and Target. My headpiece, earrings, and necklace by Crystal Collections came to $21.

Wedding location: I have four choices, a lovely place on the property of a family friend, the beautiful garden of a local inn, a church that has a SMALL fee and goes well with my wedding style, or on the mountain where my grandparents' grew up, married, and live.

*Look for unconventional venues; they'll be cheaper or even free. I opted for the for the garden for my English Garden theme.

Reception Site: I have two options here, one of which is the brand new mansion-style library in our town. It would cost only $199 ($100 refundable damage deposit, and $40 for a library worker to stay on site). The other would be our local arts building of the town center. They have several large and beautiful rooms and are roughly the same amount as the library.

*The same rule for venues applies here.

Caterer: My friends and family are fabulous cooks, and are going to provide a buffet-style meal for the wedding guests.

*Friends and family can really cut down on wedding expenses!

Cake: A friend of my fiance' and I is a cake baker, and would only charge us the price of the ingredients.

*If you don't have anyone who can provide this. Go for a two or three tier cake, and then have sheet cakes to cut for the bulk of the guests. That way you end up saving several hundred dollars. You can also have a two-tier cake, serving that only to wedding party, parents, and grandparents and serve guests with a cupcake tower.
I'm simply having a three tier cupcake tower and forgoing the cake.

Flowers: I am making my own bouquets. Flowers for a 30-stem wedding bouquet, toss bouqet, and six 20-stem bridesmaid bouquets would only run $40 before shipping costs from http://www.theflowerexchange.com. I am having a family friend do the arrangements for a fraction of the cost.

*Do as much as you can on your own! Http://www.theknot.com has videos and step-by-steps on how to make your own bouquets and arrangements.

Invitations: You can purchase nice paper, envelopes, and an emblam, and an ink cartridge and make your own for about $50. OR you could go to http:///www.invitationsbydawn.com
I'm getting 100 invitations for $64.95 (by the time the envelopes, etc are included it will be $107)

*Instead of $250-$350! Do what you can on your own, or look for budget-conscience resources like the one above.
I am making my own invitations using beautiful, old postcards from the early 1900s. One-of-a-kind, over a century old, and inexpensive at a total of $90.

DJ: My fiance's brother is a DJ, and will save us $975 by doing the reception as a wedding gift.

*If you don't have someone like this, consider cutting the cost by having premade CDs of the music you want, and have someone man the player.

Attendant Gifts: Try places like http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com

*I found my 7 attendants gifts for $35, because they were having a sale on freshwater pearl bracelets =]

Centerpieces: Something simple. If you're having a fall wedding, vases filled with slender branches painted gold or silver is beautiful and inexpensive, and branches of berries can be added for winter. Spring or summer, simple vases with a few flowers.

*I found short, square vases and are putting five gerbera daisies in each. Total cost for 18 tables is $99, and they look gorgeous!

Another tip, don't go for costly favors for the guests--most just throw them away--instead get glass vases and fill them with candy in your wedding colors, making an affordable (and memorable) candy buffet. Be sure to provide little bags. Have your bridesmaids' pay for their dress and shoes, and have a family friend who's good with hair or makeup help with that on the wedding day. Be sure to get them nice gifts!
If your attendants are on a budget, go to a place like http://ww.groupusa.com for dress ideas. My attendants dresses cost $119 each, and they're something they can wear again and again.

GO TO http://www.theknot.com It has everything you could ever need. Also get these books: Wedding Planning for Dummies, The Knot's Guide to Wedding Planning, and Priceless Weddings for Under $5,000. Your local library should have at least one of them.

Good luck!

Any opinions on Kay Bridal in Maple Shade, NJ?

izzyboy197

They wouldn't tell my future bride who made the dress. They also want to make money off unnesseary alterations. Anyone else ?

Answer
Kay Kay Bridal is an excellent bridal salon. I was very pleased with them. Why should they tell you who made the gown so you can buy a knock off? They're in business to make a profit, which contrary to popular opinion, is not illegal. Also, there is no such thing as a wedding gown that doesn't have to be altered in some way. Like I said, Kay Kay is an great bridal shop.

Is hot pink an ugly dress colour?!?

ok well i bought a hot pink dress for my grade8 grad. I though it would be pretty becuuz I have dark brown hair and chocolate eyes. The dress has like a pink ribbon on the upper waist to pull it in tighter, and falls just above my knee. Is this an ugly or tacky colour? Thanks. Also, would black shoes and a black sweater/shawl match the dress, and what colours should i do for makeup? I dont want to do pink becuuz that would look too pink.
I got the dress from Laura Petites. (:
it was 130 bucks.
It;s not poofy, but its no skin tight either. :P
I have to wear a shawl becuuz im going to be in a church and they don't allow bare shoulders):

Answer
Are you kidding? Hot pink is hot! It's a gorgeous dress color and can look very glamorous, cute, or out-there vibrant, whatever you're going for.
A hot pink dress would look good with black, silver, or gold shoes, and can work with almost any kind of jewelry.
For makeup, you should do a bronze/gold eyeshadow color, or a bronze one with a slight pink tint like "Bare Skin" from Bare Escentuals (that's my favorite eyeshadow color ever). Highlight your inner corners and under your brow bone with white. And pair that with pink lips.
If it were me, and I was going out, I would go all out and put white, gold, and pink on my eyes, but if you're a beginner, just stick with what I said above. Have fun!

What color dress will look good with light pink, hot pink and black jewelry and hair accessories?

Sarah

Need to find shoes that are under $60 and a dress that is $150 and under for my 10 year high school reunion that is coming up fast. I want something that is knee length and has sleeves. Here are the accessories i'm going to wear that night.

Websites, links, and photos will help out a lot and thank you to everyone who helps out with this one.

Answer
Well, I cant help with the prices of the dress and shoes, so I will just ramble on some colored dresses and shoe colors that goes together. ^_^

Since your accessories gonna be in light pink and hotpink, I would suggest wearing an eyecatching but complementary colored dress and neutral shoes or a neutral dress with hot pink shoes, to make the colors pops.

When wearing dresses, I think its looks better if you stick with 3~4 colors at most, adding more colors could be overkill with dresses (but personally, I love wearing many colors at the same time with seperates! Like top, skirt, sweater, shoes and accessories, but not with dresses...).

and with lighter pinks accessories, I find them pop up more in a darker or richer dress, or if you prefer softer color schemes, a pastel colored dress.

Here is some examples, I personally think would work:
# Royal blue or Dark blue dress + Nude/Cream Shoes
# Dark purple or Plum dress + Black or Nude/Skintone Shoes - Girly, but slightly edgy look
# Burgundy Dress + Nude/Cream, Black or Grey Shoes
# Dark yellow-green (Lime, Grassy green etc) + Nude/Skintone/Cream Shoes - Fresh and Funky!
# Lilac/Lavendel Dress + Nude/Cream/Skintone Shoes

# Navyblue Dress with Hot Pink Shoes - Sailor twist using pink instead of the classic combination, red. Navy is a bit softer than black.
# Black Dress with Hot Pink Shoes - Edgy and Feminine
# Grey Dress with Hot Pink Shoes - Softer than black
# Darkbrown Dress with Hot Pink Shoes - Looks best on woman with more warm colorings such as brown, hazel or green eyes, tan or dark skin and goldenblonde, red, black or warm brown hair
# White Dress with Hot Pink - Looks a bit innocent and very feminine

You could also go for metallic shoes with any of the colored dresses. A tip if wearing metallics is if the dress has a metallic in it, wear that metallic in your shoes. Lets say a burgundy dress with gold details - gold metallic shoes.

Sleeved Wrap or Sleeveed Sheath Dress with Kitten heel Pumps/Dress sandals or stylish ballerina/balett/skimmer flats would look nice and works on most bodytypes.
