What color jewelry to go with a red dress?

Katie C

I'm not sure if gold or silver colored jewelry and/or shoes matches better with a red dress. It's a dark red, kind of in between the colors shown in these two photos.

http://www.sugarscape.com/userfiles/rare-red-dress.jpg

http://www.babybeehive.com/images/juliet-dress-maroon2__241008_eztf.gif

Also, any makeup suggestions? I usually wear purple-pink eyeshadow colors, but I think these colors might look odd with a red dress. Help! Thank you! :)

Answer
If you want to try gold, wear really classy earrings and maybe a thin bracelet or ring, but no other jewelry, and nothing clunky (gold is best in modest amounts). Silver is fine, but with that shade of read, gold would look better. I wouldn't wear purple eyeshadow...subtle black mascara would be best.

What color jewelry would go best with dresses that are dark red & dark purple, gold, silver, or rhinestone?

alexusjoan

This is regarding my bridesmaids at my wedding. My coordinator said I would need a dark gold so my pictures will not come out looking dull.

Answer
I am a jewelry designer of 23 years, and we help brides every day with questions just like this.

Gold is definitely the way to go: red is a warm color; purple is more warm (red) than cool (blue); and warm colors are complemented best by the warmth of yellow gold. Red and purple are both colors associated with royalty, and the richness of yellow metal is something one almost comes to expect to see with it. White metal will seem stark and overly bright with those colors; rhinestones will be a bit much with dresses that are already so striking.

With such bold dress colors, please be sure that no matter what jewelry you choose, that the pieces not be too large. It's your beautiful wedding, not a masquerade ball! Don't go too trendy, since you will be looking at these photos for years and years.

Since jewelry detail is so difficult to pick up in photos, except for close-ups, I would not make yourself crazy locating "dark gold" jewelry (I assume he/she is talking about antiqued gold costume jewelry) if you find a style in un-antiqued gold you like.

Should short, plus size woman wear a short or long wedding dress?

CC 9/24/11

This whole time, I thought because I'm short (5'1'') and plus size (size 18 dress)...that I would need to wear a short knee length dress. I thought a long dress would make me look even shorter and wider.

This weekend I went to David's Bridal and tried on 3 dresses. 2 long, 1 Tea Length. I did not try on a short knee length dress because time didn't allow it.

The long dresses looked good on me...I think.. and the consultant said they looked good on me. (not sure how much I can trust her word though) But she told me that short dresses is what would make me look shorter and wider...not long dresses.

The Tea length dress looked HORRIBLE on me...

Now I'm wondering...maybe I can wear a long dress? However..I didn't try on a short dress like I wanted..so I have nothing to compare the long dress to....except the horrible tea length one.

You opinion...do short plus size woman look better in long or short dresses?

Answer
I think that long wedding dresses look good on any height. If you want a long wedding dress, I would go for it. I am 5'9" 230 and I am going for a long dress. So it does not matter, you go for the dress that you like. I did look at some short dresses and they look good too. But I am taller than you, so you might feel different about that for you. I know that you have mentioned that you are having your wedding at a rose garden, so you dont have to go for something too ballroom like, you can go with a nice flow like gown perfect for outdoors. Good luck!!!!

Need plus size wedding gown with high neck and long sleeves.?

tweedledee

I am 23 and about to get engaged for a second time. i am looking for a wedding dress that fits my reloigious modesty rules of sleeves covering the elbow and a neckline covering the collarbone. i am a size 16 , and seeing that it is a second marriage i don't wanna go all bright white. perhaps ivory or gold or champaign . can someone help?
i have found that most modest gown sites cater to LSD brides which are beautiful but not what i need. the sleeves are not long enough and the neckline high enough. i have tried the search engine thing with now luck. that's why i'm here.

Answer
Try this website for Jasmine Bridal. They have this thing called "Temple Ready" You get to pick the Jasmine dress of your choice, then you can choose your neckline (high, v-neck, etc.) and your sleeve length (no sleeve, short sleeve, etc.)
All of the Jasmine dresses are beautiful. Most of the dresses can be ordered in gold or ivory. They come up to a size 28 and they are fairly reasonable in price.
Here is a link to their site. http://www.jasminebridal.com/html/en/web2_templeready.asp
I hope that this helps! Good luck :)

I'm a size 00 in juniors, where can I find a fairly inexpensive wedding dress?

ellemenohp

Due to a drastic change in my fiance and I's future, we'll be getting married in about 8 months. Thankfully, it will be a small wedding, so I don't have to plan for much..
But I am definitely wearing a white wedding dress! I'm very small, I'm only 5ft tall and weight about 95lbs. I wear a size 00 in juniors, so I have no idea where to look for a wedding dress that will fit me.

Please please please, if anyone has any suggestions or know of websites that could help, feel free to recommend. Thank you!

Answer
for wedding dress, if i were you , I would avoid buying online. get yourself a custom made wedding dress even though slightly expensive - once in a life time
however you can browser Amazon to get an idea:

Wedding dress...?

Q. Does anyone know of a website that I can design my wedding dress and either a) buy it as I designed it, or b) print off the design so I can take it to the designer. The local wedding dress designers around here are idiots and cant figure out what I want.

There are a few that I know of. I am not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for - but it was the closest I could get. http://weddings.ivillage.com/bridalfashion/0,,c19l2h8c,00.html

Wedding Dress & Bridesmaid Dress Input?

angelgirl_

I've recently become engaged <3 and I am so very excited to start planning for our wedding. Which won't be until October 26th of 2013. I like the idea of getting a head start on things. I've had lots of help from my Maid Of Honor & Bridesmaid so far, but I would like a little outside input as well. I've narrowed things down to two wedding dresses and two bridesmaid dresses. My question is, if this was your decision, which pair would you go with? My theme is going to be fall, so colors will be a little different than the pictures show, but I'll clarify.

Wedding Dress Choice #1 (the ribbon sash will have a champagne color instead)

http://www.idreamprom.com/olive-green-band-strapless-wedding-dresses-chiffon-lace-p-300199956.html?f=recently_viewed

Bridesmaid Dress to go with Wedding Dress above. (the colors will be altered to a shade of orange for my Bridesmaids & brown for for Maid of Honor)

Wedding Dress Choice #2 ( The ribbon part of the dress will either remain Chocolate)

Bridesmaid Dress for Wedding Dress #2 (Opposite colors of last Bridesmaid Dress. The Bridesmaids will be in brown and the Maid of Honor will be in orange)

Answer
I have red hair and my favorite color of prom dress was always green, greenish blue, or blue. Those colors always looked great with my hair. Also, halter dresses look good on everyone, no matter your body type. Check out your local mall. When I was walking through Sears, I saw some beautiful dresses...I wish I would have seen those when I was looking for bridesmaids dresses because they were REALLY nice. Good luck and have fun!

Would I look good with Cat from victorious's hair color (velvet red)?

<3 luv ya

I just loooooooooove her hair color so I'm wondering if I would look good with it?
Here is a pic of me (lol for some reason I dont think I look that pretty in person even though that just my normal makeup and stuff, and my hair looks a little different)

so here are my questions-
Do you think I would look good with this color?

If it does how can I make it not look so goth or emo?
How will my friends and the kids at my school react bc i dont act goth, emo, or crazy(im also 13 and in 8th grade)?
Where can I get a color like this thats temporary bc I dont want to bleach my hair?
Would I have to bleach my hair to get this color?

7- Like clothes? you could dress like Kat like cute high waisted skirts and floral dresses
8- just do what Kat has

Answer
I dont know about Boston but you're pretty much guaranteed to sell them on ebay. It can be a bit of a pain if you're not familiar with how to sell an item however it's a fairly quick way of selling and getting your money.

Which wedding gown should I get? Priscilla of Boston's: PL136 or 4506?

What kind of eye makeup, blush, & lip color would look good with an orange dress?

neverendin

Hey everyone

Im attending a party its actually an asian wedding and they tend to wear really colorful clothes. I have goregous orange dress with turquoise colored beading all over. Its pretty fancy and goes nicely with how the asian weddings are..people tend to wear really fancy clothes.

My skin tone is medium-fair and i have dark brown hair and green eyes.

I was thinking of going with Turqoise color eyeshadow but im not sure what do you guys think?

Also what color blush and lip color (gloss) should i go with ?

Thanks in advance.
I would really appreciate it if you guys could post pics =)

I just never wore such a bright color before so i have noo idea what kind of makeup to go with.

Answer
i have attended tons of theese! lots of people at my hometown weddings wear fancy brightly colored make-up and clothes. i would reccomend AVON's IN A WINK INSTANT EYESHADOW SHEETS (http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.asp?pf_id=34137&from=search&find_spec=%20instant%20eyeshadow%20sheets&camp=200816&dir_delivery=1&rep_delivery=1) in blues in a blink.

for blush: go for a liquid base, (they have some at wal*mart) they are usally brighter. i would go for the peach color.

for lips: go for a bright pink: like AVON's wink. (http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.asp?pf_id=30994&from=search&find_spec=wink&camp=200816&dir_delivery=1&rep_delivery=1) good luck!

Spring wedding colour theme pink and green, what to do about bridesmaid dresses?!!!?

samsam<3

So I put up another post yesterday asking if soft green and soft pink are nice colours for a spring wedding, and I got lots of positive responses (thanks everyone!!)

But now i'm curious about how to organize the colours of the bridesmaids dresses and flowers and all that... Like do I have pink dresses with a little green in them or the maid of honour wearing green and the others pink?! What do I do?!

Suggestions PLEASE...!!

Answer
First, a good florist will take up time with you, a sale is a sale and most will let you look thru their books for ages if that is what you want. You can schedule a sitting, no charge, when you have an idea of what you want.

For bridesmaids dresses, they should be green with pink flowers as there are only mostly lime green flowers and they are too bright for me anyway for spring. Sometimes what I suggest and you will think I am crazy, but I have a 64 count box of Crayola Brand Crayons and a kid's sketch pad. I tell the bride the name of the crayons I used and she if she wants can buy a box, it is the best known crayon name around.

I picked three shades of green for the dresses, but narrowed it down to one, a soft mint green. I used granny smith apple green, green, and yellow green. I liked the granny smith apple green, which did not look like the apple, but more like a soft mint green. For pink flowers I used magenta and carnation pink. I put the carnation pink over the magenta to get a deep rose and used the pink carnation for a lighter pink. Added a dot of burgandy/wine when thinking of matching men's bouts.

I think for bouquets you need a deep rose, pale pink, some cream and yellow or change yellow to burgandy, yes burgandy is better, just a dot though.
Go to this site and look at flowers: http://www.fiftyflowers.com

There are a lots of roses in the deep rose and light pink colors, although be careful about hot pink, a dot might be o.k. but be careful. Another favorite of mine and it is very elegant is the stargazer lilly, it has a deep pink center with tiny burgandy dots and coming out to end in cream. This would go with rose and pink and bring in just that dot of burgandy you need for the men. You can bring in some cream with the ivory mini calla lilly, I love the creamy white hypericum berries, Look under cream flowers to see these, also creamy white spray roses and cream carnations or mini carnations which are beautiful and inexpensive.

Also, tulips are available in spring and also the pink callas regular size and mini are great! In addition to tulips, ranunculus, light yellow callas and cymbidium orchids. The white cymbidium with the pink lip or stripes would look beautiful in your bouquet, also comes in baby pink with a burgandy lip, here again a touch of burgandy. Also, gerbera daisies are easy to get and come in a variety of colors, but are not a fav of mine because of the rather large center.

So, I like for the bridesmaids the stargazer lillies, a medium rose colored rose and creamy mini carnations, the soft lemon green spray roses. Re-think, Change to stargazer lillies, a medium rose, creamy mini carnations, creamy white hypericum berries and burgandy dahlia or mini wine or may be called eggplant callas.

For yours, if you like roses, be sure they will be white, white if your gown is white. Many say white, but are actually cream. This is why I like for bride's main flower to be white asiatic lillies or callas, callas not my fav asiatic is better. You can add as much pink as you want, some pink roses and the mini burgandy callas. There are beautiful cymbidium orchids in white and cream with pink stripes, lips and some are white and pink with burgandy lips, very elegant, but may be expensive.

For men, a pale green vest and tie or a pale, pale yellow or cream with mini burgandy callas for bouts. Groom can have white mini callas and add some of the cream hypericum berries to bouts Groom can have either white or burgandy vest and tie, some brides like groom to have white or muted silver vest and tie. It is o.k. to bring in some light yellow to take away from so much green and you will probably never match, so go with a very, very almost white green or a pale, pale yellow or cream, which will look springy and either will look good with the mini wine/burgandy callas and cream hypericum berries for bouts. If you want a lots of color, the groomsmen would look good with burgandy/wine vests and ties, but too much for me, would take away from the springy look, but do what you like, just don't think should try to match greens with bridesmaids, too much green, need some contrast.

The roses and cymbidium orchids will make beautiful corsages for the Mothers and Grandmothers. Also, I still love carnations or minis for maybe grandmother's corsages. An orchid for your Mom and roses for his????

If have servers, some caterers do not need help, but mini carnation corsages are a nice way of recognizing someone who may be helping, but without spending a lots of money.

Fathers can have small burgandy rose bouts, for something different.

Greenery I like is lemon grass which was not pictured under greens, ruscus is a fav, small ivy filler, sprengeri fern and probably leatherleaf which is the old standby and inexpensive.

Hope this helps and you are not thoroughly confused!!!!JL

Wedding Colors: Purple and Green?

Shannon

My favorite color is purple, his is green.
How would you incorporate these colors into a wedding? What shades would you use? Would you throw in another color like cream or white?
I guess I'm mainly wondering how to make these colors work together, lol.
Thanks in advance!

Answer
I think those colors would look nice with cream.

If you're wondering how to make this work, think about the lovely romantic, old-fashioned cottage garden flowers that have purple flowers and green leaves, like violets, lavender, lilacs, and heliotrope (depending on time of year. I'd choose one of these and couple it with the likes of lily-of-the-valley. explore a florists for ideas). mmmm heavenly smelling. you could easily incorporate deep violet purple (bridesmaids in satin?), a dark emerald green (grooms vest, tie in satin damsk laced with a little gold thread, maybe?)and rich cream ( you in pearls, your dress in silk damask?) into a wedding... and think how lovely your bouquet could be: trailing dark pruple and cream with pearls and a teeny bit of gold...

i hope this helps. :)

Wedding Dress Colour?

Mandy

I always thought I would get married in white/ivory, but the other day I went and tried on some wedding dresses. I didn't know where to start so the nice lady in the shop picked a load out for me. I tried them all on and it turns out that because of my skin tone, the 'gold' colour dresses suit me the most. They are from the Ellis Bridal range and to be honest I would call it more champagne than gold, it's not like it's miles away from the traditional white and ivory colours. However, when I asked my fiancé what type of dress he liked, he said he didn't want me in anything other than white/ivory. He also described the style of dress I had originally been looking at until I fell in love with this one ( http://www.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=ellis+bridal+11224&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1366&bih=667 ) which is no where near what he described! Now, I know that the dress is my choice and everything, but I want to know if anybody chose a different type of dress to what their partners wanted and how they reacted to it? Do you think he will just be blown away by how pretty I look (hopefully!!!??) and not worry about the colour and style? Or do you think he'll be disappointed by me not taking his likes into consideration? I have the dream guy - he has SO much input on this wedding, a lot different to the majority of others by the sounds of it! And basically, I want to make the most of that and not disappoint!!! :-/

Answer
I have a feeling you're going to get a lot of the same answers to this one "It's all about you, the groom doesn't care..." but I have a groom who cares and has very particular taste. His input matters to me so we shopped together and he liked almost nothing. While I'm sure if I chose something he didn't like he would keep his mouth shut, I would be able to tell he doesn't love it and that would bother me. I actually have my dress now, bought it a few weeks ago, and I didn't fall in love with it in the store, but he did, and that was the selling point that won me over. I really liked it, it fit me like a glove and I looked lovely, the price was right, but it wasn't what I had imagined for me. But we bought it with the idea I would wear it if I fell in love with it, and if not, we would sell it. Well, I fell in love with it! But, it's still far from my wedding dress vision and I still want that dress, so i'm actually making two dresses which I will wear on the day as well. Our wedding day is 24 hours, I don't see why it can't include a few dress changes :P Ultimately, he gets his dress, I get my dress (x3) and everyone is happy.

I don't think you should completely forget your groom. I think you should want him to like the dress as well and not ignore his wishes. But, the decision does rest with you in the end. If champagne flatters your skin tone, do consider how your fiance feels about this, but in the end, go after what you want. But, I imagine what you want includes a combination of pleasing him and yourself, which I think is possible. The whole process might be easier if you shop together, actually. Get a better idea of what your groom wants and maybe if he sees champagne on you he might just change his mind!

Good luck

ETA: Oh-I forgot to look at your link! Lovely gown! If that's the colour you're after in the images, does really look more like ivory to me. Seems like a design that would be popular with a male audience too, not too frilly or anything, so hopefully your fiance likes it :)

any good light color combinations?

tabu

need some good light colour combinations....dont need any combinations with light orange and yellow and light blue...have lots of those!...thanks!

Answer
You can have many different shades of light colors. There is light green with light lavender, light brown with light green, light lavender with light pink also looks nice, light brown w/ light pink, light red w/ light gray.

There are many reasons people might need color combinations (clothing, home colors, decorations etc.)...you can get help from color palettes (hgtv.com). I love to watch hgtv to figure the color combinations of dress colors, room decorations, and design..they have marvelous ideas. Also look at the color schemes:
http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-theory-basics.html
White can also be part of the color combinations and can have a blend of colors with white..I have some beautiful dresses with white and 3/4 light color combinations and they all look beautiful!
See also this website about people who like different color combination results:
http://hubel.sfasu.edu/research/survreslts.html

Another place they have couple of good color combinations you might find helpful:

How to look good in a strapless wedding dress and you're plus size.?

Keisha

I am a size 16-18 and I want to wear a strapless dress for my wedding but my mother picked another dress. She says because of my strecth marks and I guess my fat back lol and the dark spots I have under my arms I shouldn't wear one but I want to wear one how can I get rid of these issues to look good in a strapless dress.

Answer
Don't get stuck on strapless. Try on lots of different styles, and be open-minded. You might be surprised!

For example, a halter-style top is great if you have narrow shoulders. It makes your shoulders look more broad and balances you out:
http://z.hubpages.com/u/290299_f248.jpg
http://www.weddingabc.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/1009-1.jpg

A sleeveless, thick-strapped dress is ideal if you are very busty, because you can wear a regular bra underneath. If you're heavy up-top, this is a good option because it will flatter your decolletage more than a strapless bustier: http://www.janema.com/uppic/2009427174830American-Famous-Designer-Bonny-s-Plus-Size-Wedding-Dress-B-01023-.jpg
http://www.bigisbeautifulatbridaldreams.com/userimages/1812l.jpg

A short, sheer sleeve or shrug is another option, especially if you want to hide dark underarms. These designs are sophisticated and pretty without being matronly: http://www.bigisbeautifulatbridaldreams.com/userimages/1712l.jpg
http://www.weddingdressimages.com/images/plus-size-wedding-dress.jpg
http://www.thebigdayuk.com/Plus_size_wedding_dress_gallery/Plus_size_wedding_dress_gallery2-4476.jpg

Another option that has the same sexiness as a strapless gown is the off-shoulder sleeve. It gives you that lovely neckline, but covers up a bit more in the back so you're not so "exposed." They also hit the shoulders in *just* the right place, which creates and "hourglass" image AND makes your arms look slimmer:

Wedding Colors?

Stephanie

How does Royal/Dark blue and silver sound? or do you think Royal/dark blue with beige/champagne color? My fiance really likes the silver but I'm not sure. The vest for the tuxs would be silver since the blue would hardly show against the black and I'm going with blue bridesmaids dresse. Silver or beige?

Answer
I would personally go with the silver. You can see it for yourself if you go to davids bridal online and build your own wedding. They allow you to pick a dress the colors you want, the mens tuxes and colors and the bridesmaids dresses and colors. The link is listed below

wedding colors?

domino7910

i'm having a dilemma on wedding colors, these are the colors I want, some shade of buish-green, but more on the green side, but not to loud, rust as an accent color. I'm not sure i want the goom and groomsmen in tuxes or not, maybe nice slacks and a button up shirt? Wedding is going to be outside and my dress is going to be either ivory or champagne. Please help me...

Answer
1st of all it depends on the time of year you are having it to pick the colors. The rust does not look to good with the tealish color most of the time and are not in the same time of the year. The dress slacks and shirt is up to you and your groom and depends on how fancy your wedding is going to be. I suggest a ivory dress if you want to be more tradional.

what color sweater vest should i wear with a black dress shirt, khaki pants, and brown dress shoes?

Q. i wanna look pimpin'

Answer
The color matched with your black shirt is of light color like blue, white or pink. ignore the dark color because dark+dark could not matched and using these above colors your both shirt and sweater will taken as the attraction of point by your friends and followers. one more thing I personally suggest you to wear White sprots shoes because they will be the right matched under khaki pant.

What color tie should I wear with a black dress shirt and khakis?

Michael

I have a black dress shirt that I haven't worn yet and I want to wear it to work tomorrow. Tomorrow is business/casual day if I want, so I was thinking black dress shirt and khakis with black shoes and belt but I don't know what color tie to wear? Also, if I decided to wear the black shirt on a regular day and want to pair it with black pants, what color tie should I wear? Or maybe I should ask what color tie SHOULDN'T I wear in both instances?

Answer
In both situations, you can really wear any color tie. But I wouldn't go with a dark colored tie like navy blue, dark purple, black, etc. becuase then you wouldn't be able to see it well against the shirt.

I have chosen to buy my wedding dress online?

I'm curious as to what type of dress would look good on my body:
I'm 5'1,

Answer
Go to a store and try some on, even if you don't plan to buy one there. You might find out you like a silhouette you didn't expect to like. Plus, wedding dresses run really small. When I was shopping for my dress, I wore a size six, but all the dresses that fit were a size 10.

If I had to guess, though, I think a mermaid or an a-line with lace sleeves would look gorgeous.

Tips to Dress for Business Success?

David the

What tips do you go by in dressing for day-to-day, whether for important events (e.g., high profile meetings) or managing?

For example, one rule of thumb I go by is to wear my eye color in a meeting, to both draw attention to my eyes and better project myself.

Answer
General rule of thumb is to dress to the level of your boss, manager or supervisor. Sure you can work on color coordinating, but if you're a landscaper, wearing a tie just makes you look silly... even if it matches your eyes.

Can I wear this dress to a wedding?

PearlyC

I have this dress that is black color on top, with a black lace belt and white/pearl color on bottom, the length is at my knees.

I also plan to wear a black color satin opened toe heels and have a black color wrap.

Is this appropriate?

This Dress

Answer
The dress itself is very pretty.....for grads, for fancy dinners, for family reunions....not for a wedding.
Weddings have two rules: dont wear solid black, that is for funerals, and a wedding is a celebration. And don't wear white. Or any hue of white. That is for the bride. a summer wedding is best suited to pastel colours. Light pinks, lavenders, spring greens, turquoise blues, sunny yellows...anything but white.
I work in a store that deals solely with weddings...and trust me, no one should be wearing white except the bride. :)
gorgeous dress though, and i love your taste in accessories. :D

we was going to drive to it thats why i say in maryland or close by state
does any one know if there is still a place like that please help

Answer
I am also looking for my wedding gown and I personally did not want to travel so I have been searching online and have found a lot of gowns that I love, now it is just choosing which one.
My brothers wife got her dress online for like 300 and it was the most gorgous dress I had ever seen for a full figured bride, I am also a full figured bride so I was in the same boat as her and found the online experience great. I have gone to the shops and tried gowns on and still nothing, I know I want so going online was easy. Now I have to choose! Good Luck!

what is color blocking?

Nicole

I always want to know what was color blocking can you guys tell me?

Answer
its using contrasting colors on certain parts of a dress or jacket or shirt (anything really) to deceive the eye into thinking the wearer is thinner than they actually are.

Which of these colour blocked cocktail dresses do you like best?

Rebecca - I've asked many similar questions before, some of them have involved lace dresses.

I'm not necessarily buying the dresses I ask about, just interested in opinions :)

Answer
Great choices!

1 - I personally prefer this one over all the rest. However, I think that it would look better without the layers of white at the bottom. If it just cut off at the black, it would be perfect. The twist adds just enough elegance to make it glamorous but not over the top. It would be easy to dress up or down as well. Also, black is slimming so it will look good on anyone!

2 - Im not a big fan of this one just because I've never thought that brown and blue look very good together on clothes. Also, the halter neck is somewhat odd to me. It looks like a triangle and I just dont think it looks good. Also, it would be odd to wear it to anything too formal because of the light blue colour.

3 - I think this one makes the models hip look large due to the straightness of the lines and all that. I think that the vertical line of black on her chest does nothing and just looks dumb to be completely honest.

4 - I think this one is super slimming and would look good on anyone!

Wedding dress suggestions?

.

What kind of dress should I wear? I'm 5'7, 156 lbs with an hourglass figure but I don't want anything that will totally be tight around my tummy, as I inherited a little pooch from my mother lol... what style should I choose?

Answer
Something that I think of as a cardinal rule of wedding dresses, is that there is a time to be sexy and a wedding day is not that time. You want to look beautiful and softened on your wedding day, and for most people, something that's simple, yet still has a bit of extravagance is right, because you don't have to look like you're wearing a white party dress, but, you also don't have to go full on Diana.
I looked around and fell in love with this gown from David's Bridal, not only is it a steal, at just $400, it's insanely beautiful!

Good luck on your wedding day!!

What is the appropriate length for a dress for 7 o'clock in the evening wedding?

melodia152

I've been invited to a wedding, but I'm not sure what length of dress to get.

Answer
Does the invite specify a dress code? Usually such a late wedding would be quite formal (black-tie) so you would be looking at a full length gown. I would wear something like this...
http://www.tjformal.com/48943/548687/Alyce-Designs-Special-Occassions/Alyce-Designs-Special-Occasion-Dress-6214.html

However - most weddings are semi-formal these days and if you are not sure how formal it is I would be more inclined to wear something like this...
http://www.tjformal.com/48687/541358/Short-Dresses/Flirt-Prom-Dress-P2161-Bronze-Size-10.html
I think that would be safe as it is shorter so it appears more semi-formal, yet the material and style are in a formal fashion so you wouldn't look too out of place in either setting. Even something like this which is long, but not as formal in style would work well if you are unsure...
http://www.tjformal.com/48850/547911/Tony-Bowls/Tony-Bowls-Evening-Dress-TBE2833.html

If it is definitely semi-formal / cocktail (and it may be an idea to ask if the invite doesn't specify) then something like this with a shorter skirt would be ideal...

how corset strapless wedding gown?

Tata Boshi

www.i2ko.com/weddings/images/dress1.jpg is the link. hopefully you can gt to it. I love this dress and i want it to be a corset because i am bigger busted but im thin. i love the ruffles. anyone have any helpful tips or patterns i could use? i have some time b4 the wedding.

Answer
you can get almost any wedding gown salon to add a corset top for you these days. they do it at david's bridal for an extra charge and i know that many of the orginal gown designers will also do it for an additional charge when you order the gown. most are between 150 and 250 dollars to add in.

if that won't work for you, find a seamstress who knows how to work with wedding gowns and have them do it. the main problem is the exra fabric needed for the modesty panel behind the laces. you can use fabric from the length of the gown if you are shorter and having it shortened or you can try to match some fabric from the fabric store, or ask the designer or salon where you are buying it if they can get you a yard or so of extra fabric. or you could just put in a matching lace insert or use a nice satin that matched the ribbon belt.

you can get patterns or "how to's " by googling "corset insert pattern"

themed wedding question?

mrsc

i want a 50's themed wedding and would like tips... food, clothing, any suggestions would be really cool.
also to include lemons? i want my color to be yellow! our wedding ceremony is going to be at a park and the reception in a backyard - we are renting tables and chairs. thats all i know =)
oh yeah and what about a classic song from the 50's to dance to

Answer
do a google image search on 1950's style wedding gowns - you'll get a ton of photos showing you all sorts of gorgeous styles for your gown.
you could wear a tea-length gown which is very '50's and would work well in the setting you will be having. yellow was a very popular color back then and will fit right in with your dream wedding - your girls could wear beautiful yellow tea-length dresses. attendants used to wear short veils back then - you could do that if you wanted true vinate or pay homage to the veil by having some pretty ribbons in the girl's hair!
do a google image search on wedding cakes and bouquets as well - you'll get a ton of photos and ideas. you could do very simple bouquets of wildflowers -that would be very pretty.
if you are having your wedding in the backyard then the use of a b.b.q. would fit in nicely as would a variety of salads, along with a variety of desserts as well as your wedding cake.
centrepieces could be vases filled with fresh lemons - that would give you a great burst of the color you want.
as for a song - unchained melody by the righteous brothers is a beautiful song for your first dance.
keep everything simple without too many frills and remember back in the '50's no one did favors for their guests - they got a piece of wedding cake to tuck under their pillows and have sweet dreams!
whatever you choose your day will be lovely and i wish you many years of happiness! good luck and happy wedding!
