Maternity wedding dresses?

Down anyone know where I can get a Maternity wedding dress? I live in Ontario, Canada- near Toronto

Answer
Do a wedding dress with a empire waist. The waist is under the breasts and flows out from there.
I was 4 month pregnat what I got married , just starting to show and a regular wedding dress worked fine.

When is your wedding and how far along will you be?

Wedding dress funâ¦â¦â¦.?

Completly

What does your wedding dress look like?
How much did you spend on it?
How long did it take you to find it?
How soon did you start looking?
Why did you pick it?

Just for fun!!

Answer
My wedding dress is style Nadine by Maggie Sottero. It looks like this --> http://www.pronuptia-swindon.co.uk/galleries/bridalgowns/maggiesottero/nadine_front.jpg
I spent about $1,250 on it and will spend $20 to get it bustled and $45 to have it steamed.
I tried on honestly 75 or more dresses before I found this one. It took forever! I started looking when I got out of school last May and bought this one just before I left for school in August so almost 4 months total. I started looking, like I said, on May which was about a month after I got engaged.
I picked it because I thought it looked lovely and elegant and understated, not too frilly, just a good fit for me. Something classic. I loved the material and how it fit. When I first tried it on I couldn't help but smile.

What about yours?!?

Wedding colors...I need your help please!?

I'm getting married in 6 months, the colors i've chosen are wine red, latte (milk coffee), chocolate brown and dark green. My problem is I know I want these colors but have no idea where/how to use them for example which should be bridesmaid dresses / flowers etc....

If these were your colors, how would you use them?

Thanx

What colour analysis chart do Debenhams Personal Shoppers use?

Mermaid

I recently went to see a Debenhams personal shopper after my choices for a wedding guest outfit had not been good ones despite me trying to pick the right dress for my shape and colour. I had found the seasonal colour analysis so confusing.

Anyway, I told the personal shopper this and she said they have a different system, which consists of lights, mediums, darks, muted, cool etc....I was told that I was a medium to muted and the dresses she picked for me were perfect. I've never seen this type of colour analysis before and wondered what it is and where I can find it so I can always have a list of the right colours for me.

Does anyone know?

Answer
This colour analysis is called flow colour analysis. It is better than the old 4 season colour determination because it takes into account your skin qualities, hair and eyes aswell as your temperature undertones. The old 4 seasons colour practice only really took into account the temperature undertone of the skin. If you are really interested in getting a reading done you can book a colour expert and check what system they work with. You want them to be able to do a 'flow' reading. Flow represents the fact that we all cross over a bit into different seasons. We are never really just one 'season' so to speak. I do personal shopping and flow colour aswell. If you are interested in doing a remote colour reading I can help you. I just require a good mid close up photo of you taken in natural filtered light. (not in direct sun, but under a well lit veranday works well) With this I can do a reading and send you a full colour report, face shape analysis and colour swatcjes so you can continue your shopping with confidence. I hope that helps you. Caaren Hulme from Stylizit

My prom date is wearing an orange dress, what color suit should I wear?

Her dress is this color https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/s720x720/305518_2112548791289_1772739564_1013624_1837518765_n.jpg

I was planning on wearing a regular black suit with an orange tie.

Or A black suit with a black longsleeve shirt instead of white and an orange tie.

Also, what color corsage & boutonniere should I get?

Answer
Beautiful color! :)
Get an orange corsage and wear that orange tie Have fun!

Same dress, different colors?

underdawg1

Would it look strange to have my 3 bridesmaids wear the same dress but in different colors? Like, I'm thinking maybe brown, orange, and green...let me know what you think.
The dress I picked will look good on all my bridesmaids...the colors I picked are my colors and I guess unless you are visualizing the exact shades of the colors it might seem like they clash...most weddings you either see the same exact dress or the same color but different styles...I'm not like most people, so why would I want my wedding to be like most weddings? Anyway, I've got 2 years to plan this thing, I'm just running through ideas right now

Answer
i would stick to same general color but different dresses. not all dresses look good on everyone, so this way you still look uniform but flattering.

Pattern for a knitted wedding gown?

piagetdisc

I am a fairly experienced knitter, and think it would be so special to knit my own wedding dress. It will be a summer wedding, so something airy and lacy would be fine. I've searched the itnernet a bit and not found anything really special. Maybe you can suggest a book with a great pattern (even for a really beautiful dress that would work if I changed the color). Thanks!

You can buy a book from this site -- http://www.randomhouse.com/crown/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780307346407

$500 size charge for wedding dress?

Anonymous

I bought my wedding dress last week and was surprised when they told me the designer charged $500 for my size.
If it was for additional fabric, I suppose that makes sense, but the charge was because my size is particularly small.

The original dress cost is $5,900, which seems quite high enough already to me.
Can someone please explain how they justify charging $500 for using less fabric than normal?
Thanks, Rebecca
The thing is- I'm not paying for alterations with the $500- it's added to the dress cost.
Alterations costs make sense, but they haven't even ordered the dress yet, so I don't see how it costs $500 to order size 00 instead of size 6.

(I won't have alterations done until the dress comes in around November.)

Answer
It's because you're off the scale for the existing pattern, and they're going to have to have a patternmaker make a new one in your size. When they make patterns, they choose the middle of their size range -- to use the small-medium-large side range, the pattern would be made in a medium size, and then graded by a system of rules to turn the size medium pattern into sizes small and large. Or sometimes into extra small, small, large and extra large. Unfortunately, the sizes extra small is likely to be too small in the shoulders and neckline by standard grading rules, and the extra large will likely be too large in the shoulders and neckline for a person wearing this size. (This, btw, is why you see a lot of plus size people wearing tops with necklines that are way too large, and shoulder seems that are halfway to their elbows -- the patterns have been "overgraded").

Rather than deal with the poor fit from overgrading the current pattern down in size, the gown maker has chosen to protect its reputation by not going outside the size range where they know they have good fit by making a new size range of patterns to deal with those few special orders. You're paying for part of that patternmaking cost -- that's the $500 charge. And your pattern will likely be cut by hand by a sample room, rather than be a production cutting. Again incurring extra costs to make the gown your size.

In fact, people who are outside the usual range of sizes can often have the garment they want in their size cheaper by having a gown custom sewn than by the method you've chosen... buying a gown off the rack, having to have a new pattern made, and then having to have the finished gown altered.

Should I buy my wedding dress in New York or Sydney?

Jazzy

I don't really know much about wedding gowns, but I know I want one that looks good on me, and is a reasonable (inexpensive) price. I live in New York, but am moving to Australia with my hubby, and getting married there. Any suggestions on where I should buy my dress? I would assume it would be cheaper in the US...

Answer
First, congrats on your upcoming wedding!

As a Sydney-sider and a July '08 bride, take my advice and buy your dress in New York! For a wedding dress in Australia you're looking at upwards of $1,400 not including final fittings and there's a minimum lead time of 6-8 months for ordering.

Make sure when you bring it down on the plane that you take it as carry-on in a suit bag, let the airlines cabin crew know that it's your wedding dress and they'll be falling all over themselves to make sure it stays safe.

Good luck, and enjoy Sydney!

Custom wedding dress...?

Just Me!

Ok...I sew... and my brothers finance came to me with a farley simple wedding dress that she designed (sketched)... Well I told her that I don't have the time...and that I don't want to feel preassured to make her wedding dress! Because I love her so much and yes I sew all the time...but I never even made a wedding dress... so she understood and asked me if I could help her find a place to bring the design so she could get it made for her...I don't mind helping her do this...but I don't know where to.go for this...what kind of places will make her a wedding dress... and how much (roughly) would it cost? thanks

oh and if you want to know we live in ny

Answer
you are very wise not to attempt your sister's wedding dress if you have never done a wedding dress before. wedding dresses are not like ordinary clothes and the fabrics are difficult to work with. there is also a great deal of handwork which must be done on a wedding dress, so kudos to you for not doing it.

here are a couple of excellent tailors in new york who will do it without charging and arm and a leg. both of them start around 500 dollars for a custom made wedding dress. http://dynastycustomtailor.com/

I need help finding a fun wedding dress!?

Q. I'm having a very informal wedding in Vegas with about 20-30 friends and relatives. We've even asked our guests to wear dressy clothes, but in their favorite time period! (Renaissance, mobster, 50's, 60's, 70's, whatever their heart may desire) So I want a really fun dress to go along with our theme. I don't want tacky, but something not traditional but still dressy and fun. I'm really interested in a short a-line dress. Here are some examples of dresses that I REALLY like.. if only they were more colorful.

http://www.tjformal.com/Products/218/26473/Jessica-McClintock/Jessica-McClintock-2008-Wedding-Dress-Katie-54207
This one would be perfect without the lace and maybe a splash of color.

http://www.houseofbrides.com/product.php?productid=32306&cat=1357&page=1
This is not a short dress. But I gave it as an example because I absolutely love the design of the dresses with the different layers. It's interesting!

http://www.bestbridalprices.com/casablanca-wedding-dress-1889s-p-18740.html
Again, this would be the perfect dress, except it's boring. No color and I don't really care for the lacy design on the chest.

http://www.promgirl.net/paris18779.html
This one is really cute. Surprisingly enough, I actually like the gem design and how it kind of cascades off the bodice with a sprinkle here and there on the skirt part. But again, boring and lacks color!!!!

I really also like the Sweet Lolita style (if you know what that is). But would like something a little tamer than that. Something a little more dressy and not so elaborate. I'm a modern girl that has a punk flair.

10 points to the person who can show me 'the' dress or at least a link to some sites that show a lot of great dresses that fit my style. I've looked at so many sites, my brain is numb! I need help. lol

Can't afford our wedding, what should we do?

Stephanie

My fiance and I have put off getting married for a few years, hoping to save up money to have a nice wedding. It didn't work, we have more bills now than we did before. Initially we thought we could swing all the payments for photographer, DJ, venue, etc but we really can't...unexpected expenses just keep coming up. Our families aren't in a position to help us financially either. What do we do? We've already chosen people to be in our wedding party and they'll be upset if we tell them we're just getting married at the courthouse because they've already gotten dresses/suits. There is already a bridal shower scheduled for me, do I just tell the people throwing it to cancel it? What the heck do I say, 'sorry, we're too poor to get married?' I don't want to have a courthouse wedding and be disappointed, but I also don't want to attempt a 'nice' wedding and have it turn out crappy because we had to cut so many corners. I just feel like crying, I'm so tired of worrying about this. :(

Answer
I agree with the person who suggested a courthouse wedding, then having a party later where you exchange vows with your fiance in front of your guests. My husband and I are doing this.

In the '60's & '70's, almost everyone had a simple wedding, but then when everyone saw Princess Diana's wedding on t.v., suddenly there was a lot of interest in having a huge fussy wedding with a lot of expensive tiny details. Now the wedding industry is a huge business making people rich!

I already said this in another answer: Ignore the wedding shows on t.v! They are designed to make you feel jealous. You can still have your one day to be elegant, and do this within a budget.

You can do it! Get out your Costco or Sam's card and Party City coupons, and get crackin'!

Where to buy cheapest wedding dress?

Constance

My wedding will be held this fall, and i'm searching wedding dresses online. god.... so many stores online selling dresses. My budget is appx $200. Anyone bought cheap gorgeous bridal dress? I need you help.....i don't mind if it's from overseas, well the fabic must be soft, and escape from color fading. Thanks.

Answer
Have you visited the department stores in your area already? Not many people have noticed this, but some department stores do sell bridal gown at an attractive price. You might be able to get an off-season one at highly discounted price. They are usually still pretty and in nice condition, rest assured - just off-season.

I am inclined to ask you to check out the second-hand stores in your neighborhood too. Depending on luck again, you might be able to get a good deal (for example, medium-class or designer's wedding gown that the previous owner is selling it, because she's confident that she won't need it anymore) at low price.

However, considering your budget of $200, it might not be necessary for you to buy a second-hand wedding dress. Instead, try getting it online, like many have suggested. My personal favorite online stores are:
- www davidsbridal com
- www alldresses com
- www cybergown com
- www shopshop com
(replace the spaces with dots to make them valid URLs)

Also, you can get a good bargain from our beloved eBay stores. I don't have any recommendation, but you can google "ebay wedding dresses" to get a whole list of such stores. If you're ambitious enough, try also "ebay designer's wedding dresses" to see whether you can get a designer's stuff.

Just a reminder: when you shop online for your wedding gown: ask the seller to send you a lot of pictures of the dress, taken from different angles. Make sure you are protected by money-back guarantee too, in case of any dispute.

Also, spare a portion of your budget for altering the dress. It's almost certain that the dress that arrives won't fit you perfectly, since you haven't tried it yet.

Answer
You can try places like nordstroms or Jcpenney...
Here are some gowns from Jcpenney. They are lovely, and nice prices as well...

You can also try looking for destination wedding gowns, as that gown looks a bit more casual.
Not sure about the price on these, but I know Eden Bridals is very affordable...if you see something that you like it definitely pays to shop around and get some prices. I know my bridesmaids got Eden bridesmaid dresses and they were extremely affordable.

What colors could I use for my wedding if I get a tea rose/white wedding dress?

corky

I absolutely love David Tutera's dress called Hillary (Style # 213247) from his 2013 collection, and I love how it's not plain white, it is tea rose and white, or you could get white or ivory.. but I don't like plain white or ivory dresses.. my problem is, I don't know what colors I would use for everything else. I was thinking cotton candy colors but I love the colors green and orange... plus, my SO is a Hurricanes fans lol I'm so confused!

Answer
Beautiful and elegant gown! I really do not believe green nor orange would look good with the dress. A rose or burgundy...a bronze color could accent it well.

Does anyone know where I can buy this dress?

is it would be possible to dye this dress a different colour? someone with experience in dying fabric?

geek sweet

Hi,
I LOVE this dress:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=362846730
But the colour wouldn't suit me at all. I was wondering if anyone out there had experience with dying fabric and could answer these questions:
- would the fabric hold up to being dyed? would it retain the dye? or would it damage the fabric?
- what colours would work to dye over the existing colour?
- what colours wouldn't?
- could i bleach it first and then dye it?
- where can i get fabric dye from?
- how do i dye it? (eg. bathtub?!?!!)

Thank you! Any help would be much appreciated!! :D
xo

Answer
Not a good project for dyeing. There are a number of different fabrics in it, probably including such things as fusible interfacing and rayon lining that will not be happy getting wet. There's a fair chance it'd be ruined if you try to dye it.

And there's no home process for removing dye from polyester.

If you really, truly want to, then you'll have to choose a color that is darker and has gold in it... orange, green, brown. Be prepared for clashing colors from the different dye lots. The only dye available for polyester at home is iDyePoly, which comes in only 8 colors:

KrazyBeaut

I have really fair skin and I'm going prom dress shopping
i was wondering if there is any color that would look the best

Answer
Well it depends what kind of look you are going for, but bright pastel colours go really nicely on pale skin.

What's a nice dress colour for a medium/dark skin tone?

Hey! It's

I don't know why I'm thinking about my school graduation party which will be in 2 years. So, I was wondering what kind of dress would match my skin tone/look. I'm 5'3", 147lbs (though, I'm gonna start losing weight). I have black straight hair, black eyes. Pic here: http://tinypic.com/r/r70j09/5

So, what kind of colours would match?
Thanks:)

Answer
Colors that look best with your skin tone are medium colors like rose, peach, medium purple, turquoise, fuchsia, or tangerine. I would avoid colors that are too dark or too light like navy, dark green or purple, black, white, or pastel shades because the darker ones look blah and the lighter ones are too much contrast.

You can wear most colors if you just get the right depth of color. Good luck!! : }

btw, you might want to get different glasses that don't sit so low on your face. Right now, your eyes are kind of hidden by the top part of the glasses. If you pluck your eyebrows a little to clean up the lines and get different eyeglass frames, then it would show off your beautiful eyes a lot more.

Take this dress quiz: http://www.tjformal.com/Quiz.aspx to see what looks best with your body type and coloring.

TJ Formal has tons of prom dresses in all styles and price ranges:http://www.tjformal.com/ShopBy/Dress+Type=2712/products.html?sb_id=7&d_id=56441&it_id=1&key= and will be adding a LOT more in the next couple of months. They've been in business since 1969 and online since 1997.

LGBT: dress code for wedding?

t.A.T.u.

I don't want to have one of those normal weddings, you know how they wear a white dress and black tux.....and after i saw this pic i thought "it's exactly what i want"

i'm a guy, so i'm going to marry a dude (should be obvious)....lol....but what do you think of what the one in the black? i was thinking that both of us would wear this, but one looking like her and the other wearing a white colored one

here's the link:

http://s608.photobucket.com/albums/tt165/Uncommonia/?action=view&current=tATuwedding.jpg
no, him nor i will be wearing women's clothes....but we're going to be wearing the coat with underwear....just like she is (men's underwear that look similar to hers)
stach man and shytown are deffinitely going to be invited ;)

Answer
It's your wedding, whatever you feel like wearing would be fine, you would be making a statement & as long as the two of you were fine with it, that's really all that matters.

Wedding date dress code?

Gidget

One of our (my boyfriend's & my) best friends from high-school is getting married this summer.

Is it appropriate to match your wedding date? Like having the color of your dress go with (not necessarily match exactly) his shirt & tie. Or does it not matter at all.

Us girls, always try and make our boyfriend match us at proms and such, but now we are grown up now (22). I'm thinking this doesn't apply anymore at this point in life, but am unsure.

Answer
At events like this where you are bound to be photographed together it's more important to make sure you don't clash, rather than ensuring that you are all matchy-matchy. Too much matching makes it look like you tried too hard.

If your dress is a print, then his shirt should be plain - a print or a stripe might look funny when you're sitting together. As for color - just make sure they aren't oddly different shades of each other - for instance, blue-green doesn't go well with a gray-green like sage. Same goes with rose pink with coral - they just don't go. Complimentary colors are a nice way to go without matching (which looks WAY too high school, I agree) so you could do a sky blue on him and a peachy coral on you, for instance.

Where Can I find this Vera Wang Wedding Gown? Sex and the City Charlotte's Dress!?

Cherry

Hello I'm getting married in 11 months and I've set out on a quest to find this dress because I've been in LOVE with it for about 4 years.

http://www.hbo.com/city/img/look/charlotte/season03/ep42_char_weddinggown.jpg

It's the dress that Charlotte York on Sex and the City wore to her 1st wedding to Trey. I know that it is a Vera Wang but I have no clue where to find it.
I'll take a knock off or authentic and price isn't an issue- 10 points to anyone who can find any sites or info.
Thanks!

Answer
I'm at a loss....I can't find the gown, except on sites showing it from that episode. (Chances are, it was custom-designed.)

If finances are no obstacle, I would suggest the use of a professional seamstress who could re-design the gown for you and even make enhancements of your choosing.

Congratulations and the best of everything to you and your fiance!

how much vera wang wedding gowns? range of price in U.s. dollars or Philippine peso?

kim

Answer
Most Vera Wang wedding dresses range from $2000 to $7000 USD. Her higher end Luxe Collection starts at $6000 and goes up to $12000 or more USD.
