Where can I find a plus-sized prom dress like this? (Examples included)?

Up for a challenge? ;) I can't find a dress like this anywhere.
I need a cute plus sized dress, I would like it to be long and puffy, (to look pretty and to keep from looking lumpy) but i'm flexible on the design as long as it's not a straight flow one. Most colors work, I have fair skin, brown hair and hazel eyes, so whatever goes with that is ok.
The main thing I need is one where the neckline doesn't go too much lower than the collar bone and where the sleeves go about halfway down to my elbows.
(I have examples at the bottom)
I'm not self conscious, I just don't feel comfortable wearing a dress with a low neckline or one that has very short/no sleeves, I'm not sure why.
I'm not the richest girl though so I need the dress to be around $200. :/

Any help would be really appreciated, I can't find anything right now and I might just not be able to go. :( I'm not even sure a dress like this exists. I really want to go, but I want to wear a pretty dress I feel good in like all the skinny girls, is that too much to ask?

I'm trying to find a wedding dress with long lace sleeves. I really like these two:

but both those companies don't seem reputable. And other more well known companies just seem to have lace jacket style coverups for older brides. I know david's bridal will attach long lace sleeves to any sleeveless dress, but the pictures of their sleeves didn't look very good.

I'm 5'10'' and a size 14. So a little overweight, but I don't really need a huge cover up dress. I just have a scar on my upper arm from a skiing accident that I'd be more comfortable if it was covered up. And I think those two dresses look classy, yet sexy.

Go actually try on gowns, please! The only way to find the perfect dress? Go try on gowns. That is the only way to tell which is the most flattering to your individual body type.

This is a major purchase. Don't order online. Actually go try on dresses. See the quality with your own eyes before purchasing.

If you are a mature bride, you can consider evening gowns and mother-of-bride gowns too. Often, a mature bride will prefer a more sophisticated look.

Navy blue and Yellow wedding? Dress/Tux combinations?

Right now I have my bridesmaids in navy dresses, a yellow sash, shoes, and flowers.

The grooms men are in grey tux's, navy ties.
I want my fiance to have a grey tux with a yellow tie..

..but that leaves me with the question.. what accent color do I wear? I was thinking blue but i want to match my groom!!
I'm wearing a white dress..I mean for shoes and flowers and such!

i would have white shoes, any other colour would look odd and yellow flowers. like you said, this will make you match your groom and there will already be a lot of navy blue so there's no need for you to have that on you as well. or you could have a navy bow around the flowers, depending on the type of bouquet you are having. cool colour choices by the way, i bet it comes up really well!

You don't have to go by season but many do. I will try to make a short list. One way to get an idea is to google color wheel and look at it and the colors opposite your main color are accent colors.
Spring---lilac, lavender, violet with pink and olive green (imagine a tea party in an english garden)
Lavender or royal blue with peach and coral
Summer--Pinks, fuchsia with greens/sea foam/turquoise
Fall-Eggplant or latte dresses with fall flowers, peach, orange, rust, gold
Winter--deep teal with cream and a bit of gold, burgundy and gold, rich plum, gold and cream
To most bouquets, not all add a tot of lime green and in some use hypericum berries.

There are MANY articles on the internet surrounding the sporty look whilst still looking feminine. Many refer to the difference between the "sporty" look and the "tomboy" look. Most suggest a layered look and small details on tops to add a touch of femininity and shy away from tight form fitting clothing but rather clothes that drape well but still show your feminine shape.

There are PLENTY of professionals out there to show you what looks good and what does not for free and without trying to sell their wares to you, however, a quick glance at some ads touting sportswear may give you some ideas to expand upon.

I personally think a not TOO obvious scarf tied about the neck that matches something lower on your body (tights under a skirt or dress?) can pull a look together for a girl or woman and is sporty looking, but that is just a matter of taste.

Take a close look at what colours you like together and avoid TOO clashy a combination and either match with exact colour or compliment with a colour quite a few shades lighter or darker than the one you are trying to "compliment" or pull into the mix.

The "layered look" often is considered feminine and sporty, both with some small detail or details on the top adding a tad to the femininity. It is all basic common sense and some of these articles will remind you what to look for and what to avoid in your quest to look sporty as well as feminine.

WOW! The gown is amazing! But I must admit, you were not fair on the bridesmaids choices. They are all amazing. I love them all. The one that you pegged for your favorite, is absolutely gorgeous but I also loved the second one. I think those gowns would really look nice in the color purple that you chose. You are going to have a wonderful. I must add this though, your girls will need to be fit and thin for your gown choices. If they all have a nice hairstyle and light makeup, that gown will really stand out. They all really compliment your gown, I think that gown is absolutely beautiful. You will be a gorgeous bride. The colors that I have chosen for my wedding are aqua or turquoise and a bright green.... something like a lime or similar... I have looked at David's Bridal and they have the right color blue (aruba or pool) but not really that happy with their green choices. Does anyone have any fsuggestions?

I couldn't find a color I liked so I decided to make the dresses. I was able to find a Mystique satin in the exact color I was looking for and the girls designed the dresses so they love them. I paid ~$40 per dress for the fabric, notions, lining and trim. The dresses are amazing and completely unique. You could always try your local fabric store or if you're more familiar your local fabric warehouse or wholesaler, they often have great prices on large quantity orders.

I use J&O, but that's because I live in NJ and go there all the time.

Have you tried Davids Bridal? Also, I know it's not actually IN Des Moines but you can try ebay. I know it sounds crazy but what happens is dress makers normally located in Asia start up these ebay stores to make extra money on the sides and only charge like $100 for the whole dress. They make replicas of designer top end gowns for 100 bucks! The shipping is a little expensive but you are not going to spend anywhere near $500 for a gown on there! They look really nice too. Sense they are custom you just go to a prof. seamstress to get your measurements - maybe Shaffer's downtown or Weddings by design (mapquest them in Des moines) they'll do it for free and then you email them to your dress maker. They will make it custom fitted for your body. There just aren't a ton of bridal shops in Des moines that aren't oober expensive. I went into Shaffer's when I was looking and about died at the $10,000 price tag on one gown! That's NUTS! lol

Go to a store and try some on, even if you don't plan to buy one there. You might find out you like a silhouette you didn't expect to like. Plus, wedding dresses run really small. When I was shopping for my dress, I wore a size six, but all the dresses that fit were a size 10.

If I had to guess, though, I think a mermaid or an a-line with lace sleeves would look gorgeous.

I am 5'9", I have a long torso, I am not fat, but I have a little pudge, wear size 7-9 jeans, and I have a 36DDD top. I have not tried on any dresses since I was only a sizze 32D, and then I had a strapless sweet heart shape.

I want to know what the best style is for a big bust. (I loved Kendra's style from the show 'Kendra' I am not as skinny as she is, but a little bit bigger in the stomach area. Please help me out!!

You seem to have the perfect body for a wedding gown- the hour glass shape is definitely the most revered in regards to classic bridal beauty.

My advice is pretty simple:

In both situations, you can really wear any color tie. But I wouldn't go with a dark colored tie like navy blue, dark purple, black, etc. becuase then you wouldn't be able to see it well against the shirt.

I got my wedding dress and the colors are champagne and Ivory.?

Q. Now I need help picking a color that will go good with it for my bridesmaids dresses,cake and everything else..... HELP!!!??
I dont have a color at all for my wedding. I was think Jade....the wedding is in July of next year so I have time but want to get things done early.

The bridesmaids' dresses could be champagne or ivory just like yours, with the addition of colorful sashes. They could be all the same color â tangerine, turquoise, leaf green, sky blue, deep pink, violet â or several different colors. Your own sash could match your dress exactly.

A traditional custom was for the bridesmaids to dress very much like the bride, so that any "evil spirits" would get confused and not zero in on the bride.

Having lots of different colors would make decorating for the reception very easy. Summer flower colors for a July wedding would be lovely.

I would go start trying things on. Go to a smaller, privately owned bridal shops (instead of larger chain stores), in my opinion the sales people are just more knowledgeable. Since you have a good idea of what you want, go in and explain it to them and they will be able to pull dresses that are what you have in mind. Almost all wedding dresses can be ordered in either ivory or champaign, even if the sample is white (I'm having an ivory dress too).

Lastly, don't be shy to try dresses on that a sales person might suggest. They have a great eye for body shape and what will look good on your and still be what you have in mind - it's worth the 5 minutes to try something on, even if it isn't exactly what you picture or doesn't look great on the hanger. One of the salespeople at a little family owned shop suggested I try on a mermaid style gown and I fell in love!

The dress she suggested wasn't "the one" but I did eventually find my dress, and it's mermaid style - something I never thought I would like or look good on me! My reception dress will also be a mermaid style!

Addition:

I noticed another posted recommended Casa Blanca - yes all their dresses are made of real silk, but at every store I've tried them on at (I actually like a quite a few of their designs) they are always overpriced. I don't know why, maybe because they are a Canadian designer and made in Canada, but these dresses are always priced $500-900 more than they are really worth. And this is coming from my mother who used to design and make wedding gowns and owned a bridal store for 6 years.

As a guest, is it appropriate to wear a dress that has the color motif of the wedding?

I want to wear this cute flower printed dress to a wedding. I already have the dress and don't want to get a new one. The color motif of the wedding is brown and light blue. I have a dress where the flowers are a mix of brown/blue with a background of beige. Will wearing this dress upset the bride? What are your thoughts?

The probablitiy is high that many guests and the wedding party will be dressed in the same or very similar colors.

Most of the time, the wedding color scheme is picked to fit the season. The bridesmaid's dresses are probably bought new out of a store and therefore are probably in a trendy color. Every season there is a new pallet that's popular for that year's fashions. So, if you bought a new dress close to the wedding date, there would probably be several women there in the same color and shade and they are likely to be wearing a bridal party color.

To avoid looking like a member of the wedding party then, all you would have to do is pick a dress in a pattern, just like you have done.

If you want to wear solid colors, pay attention to the style and fabric of the outfit you plan to wear. For instance, if you wore a sophisticated three piece ensemble, you wouldn't end up looking like a bridesmaid. Likewise, a form fitting cashmere sweater dress is unlikly to look like any of the bridesmaids, even if it was exactly the same color, unless they were also in cashmere.

So, wear your dress and don't give it a second thought. Nobody else will.

Hi, looking for some genuine advice!! Im a size 18 in the likes of jeans and ordinary tops etc. The thing is, I have a wedding at the end of the summer. Really close family member! Would really love to wear a dress as nearly all of the other quests will probably will be too.

I would probably need a size 20. I would be more top heavy. Have great legs though! If I do wear a dress I was planning to add a suitable wrap/bolero/shrug to cover the tops of my arms and back with suitable sandals to give me some height (5ft 5)

Would it be suitable or would I look completely stupid.

Im sure that there are more voluptuous ladies out there with the same problems or maybe have already been in this situation???

That dress IS very cute. Just make sure you try it on before you buy it. I had to attend a wedding this past saturday and I wore a white skirt with a black tank top and a mini jean jacket. It was very cute and I got lots of compliments. But I really like the dress. Good luck!

So, 6 bridesmaids and one has a 'difference of opinion' in dresses?

My sister in law is getting married and I've been trying to help her out finding all these possible bridesmaid dresses etc. By the way- this is a big to do wedding, we are talking over $100,000, yeah ridiculous I know! But anyways, I really love Amsale and since their '08 line is mostly tissue taffeta (which happens to be the same material the bride's dress is made of ) I thought it was too good to be true.

That's unfortunate that she is being difficult. I like Bolero jackets but they can be a bit too much with most dresses (looks really eighties!) Have you tried to find something with capped sleeves? Also, I know that some Amsale dresses come with the option of having straps, have you looked into that?? Someone that does alterations can add boob support and some straps in there as well. I don't know why all these ladies in here are knocking these dresses, they are gorgeous! I would go and have her try them on to see how they fit........I know how it goes tho, it's hard trying to please everyone.
Anything that cinches the waist would be good for the plus size girl, but ultimately she needs to be comfortable in her own skin, which it sounds like she is not. Good luck to you and the bride!

Trying to find a type of dress that would suit my body type or a color that would work best!

i'm a redhead [natural strawberry blonde], and i'm planning on wearing an emerald green dress.
i'm pretty pale though.
people also say i look good in purple.
so i'd stick with cool colors.
purple, blue, green, etc.
i'd be weary of red.
some can pull it off, others can't.
also be weary of other warm colors like orange or yellow.
pink is also iffy. you need to find the right shade.
since you're tan, you're likely to be able to get away with bright colors, and white.
