Coming home in September and will have a weding reception in Oklahoma, we rented my gown to be married in from a store near where we were married. However we would like to rent me a gown to wear to our reception there. Any suggestions?

What about a chocolate brown color!? Or maybe a teal (not a guady one, though)? Lavender and champagne would go together.

When I think summer I think of yellows and oranges, blues and greens. I think yellow wouldn't look right with champagne. Orange might be hard to find stuff in that color and most women don't look good in orange. A brilliant blue (think ocean) would be pretty. Or even a bold green.

Honestly, a lot goes with champagne because it is so close to the white/ivory family. Pick a color you like and go with it. Go to a store with silk flowers and take a piece of champagne material with you and see what contrast of color you like best. Think pleasant to the eye and yet striking! :)

Is it offensive to wear an Indian Sari at my wedding?

I am American with no Indian blood in my family. However, I have always loved Indian culture, music, art, and food. I am spiritually a mix of Hindu and Buddhism. I was wondering if it was offensive to Indian culture if my bridesmaids and I wear Sari's to my wedding?

I'm half indian, half pakistani. It is such a compliment for you to honor our culture. You could have an Indian themed wedding, and wear a white bridal Sari. Matter in fact, there are indian designers that make very modern draped sarees that look like american dresses. They even drape the sari in a way that it looks grecian. These indian designers are huge businesses, and even have shows at Paris Fashion Show such as Sana Safinaz, Figura, and some UK indian designers have their own thick magazine. Some magazine names are Femina, Asiana Bride, BiBi, Sapna. You can buy these magazines from Ebay or Amazon. I have seen Asian Bride in Barnes and Noble. I found links:

I dont think its a faux pas or offensive at all. I bought an american wedding gown from allure couture and it costed me a $1400, but I flipped through an indian magazine, there is a designer in New York that had a similar indian dress for $900. My cousin is marrying an american white guy, and she is wearing a white sari.

Have you considered driving to Klienfeld or whatever it is called in New York? It is on the show Say Yes To The Dress. They are supposed to have one of the largest bridal gown shops in the world!

Is it ok to wear a long red dress to a wedding?

I really dont know...Its a long red "asian" style dress im not sure if its too fancy for a wedding or what? I really have never been to a wedding, so is it ok.??? If not any other suggestions?

Is the wedding Asian inspired? Are you Asian? Go for it.

I know it's the bride's day, but sometimes brides get caught up in having the "perfect" wedding. I showed up to a wedding... the most important woman in the room is wearing the white (or whatever coloured) wedding dress, and chances are, if I'm at her wedding, I'm not going to forget this little fact or forget who she is.

But it could just be my background. I know alot of people think red is a forbidden colour to wear at weddings. I've been to a number of Asian (East Indian mostly) weddings and they encourage red and other bold colours on the guests. As well, in these cultures, red is seen as a colour of good fortune. So I see nothing wrong with wearing a red dress, especially if it has a cultural reference to it. Just because we don't understand it's meanings compared to western/anglo wedding traditions doesn't make it automatically wrong. But you need to be strong enough to smile sweetly at your detractors when they come to tear you apart passive aggressively.

I was planning on getting my bridesmaids and candlelighters a necklace from Claires that they can wear with their dress. I need ideas for the groomsmen, flowergirls, and my parents. Any ideas for inexpensive gifts. Not that they don't deserve more, I just can't affort it after all the other wedding expenses. I also have a question about the ceremony. We are giving roses during the ceremony to our mothers. I have a step mother as well. I don't want to not give her one and hurt her feelings but if I do give her one I'm afraid it may hurt my mother since she is the one that's always been there. What is you opinion. We gave our groomsmen Chicago Bears t-shirts and Bears coaster sets. The flowergirl got a little purse with her initial on it. My mom and mother in law, I gave them little presents instead of flowers. I gave them both framed pressed flowers.

If you are giving roses, colors of roses have meaning. Give your mom one that is red (love) and your step mother yellow (friendship). Other meanings: pink - gratitude and appreciation; light pink - admiration; peach - gratitude; white - reverence, humility, purity.

I have a champagne colored wedding dress. My bridesmaid dressses are black with champagne sashes. Please help me with my reception linens!!!!

Take a minute to picture everything. You perhaps are going to have a large room for your reception. You walk into the room and.... there are tables with white or champagne tablecloths on them. The chairs have white or champagne covers, and the sashes are black, like the dresses. As cool as it sounds, it's going to look very distracting with all those black bows, plus the centerpieces. Go for a white or champagne sash on the chairs, napkins and tablecloths, and bring the black in only in small pieces. A little black will go a long way. You could make black ribbon bows for napkin rings, put black onyx rocks in the flower vases, or use black confetti on the tables. Don't use black candles. They never look right because the wax is funny and makes little white marks on the candles, so they look like they've been stored in somebody's basement too long.

How can I dye a satin polyester and tulle wedding dress?

I have a roman style wedding dress and since it has cost me an arm and a leg I would like to get more value from it. One idea is to sell it. Another is to trim the length knee high and wear it for other occasions. But I would prefer to color it as to not offend any bride. It is of a rare elegance and it would break my heart to part with it.

I am not located in the US, but in Europe and I don't know of any professional dying service. Do you have some ideas, do you think the dye would catch well on all of the dress components?

Dress description: Ivory color, with one layer of hard very good quality satin (polyester) and four layers of the finest tulle on top. It also has a sash & shoulder straps of probably organza flowers with little pearl beads and crystals sewn in.

Sell it or shorten it, but it's not going to be easy to dye, and will probably come out with several different shades.

I was supposed to get married in 2010, but I broke up with my fiance. Now I am stuck with a beautiful designer gown and a bridesmaid dress that I paid for. I tried selling the wedding gown on ebay several times, but no one wants to buy it. Does anyone have any idea how I can get money for the wedding dress and the bridesmaid dress? I desperately need the money for school. Thanks

I would call the store where I bought them & see if you could sell them back to them & if not ask if they had ideas as to where you could sell them. . I imagine people sell anything on eBay so just find different places you can possibly advertise them & sell.

Two wedding dresses for a brunch reception?

I am having a brunch wedding in April fromm11am -3:30p. I bought a wedding gown on Ebay from a wedding boutique for $100 and I found a really pretty dress from David's Bridal that is shorter (just under knee) and it would look great for a brunch. I was thinking of long dress for ceremony and short one for brunch reception.

Is having 2 dresses for a brunch reception a little much or would it be ok?
