Is 13 months too early to purchase wedding gown?

Is it too early? I heard it takes a long time to order etc... also, what happens once I get the dress? Do I need to have it cleaned before the wedding will the dress change colors?

It is never too early to look for a wedding dress! :] Once you find the one it's the one and nothing will change. It won't go out of style either. However it depends all on the bridal shops! I ordered my wedding dress in may(i'm not getting married until july 2011 so i went 14 months early) and it won't be here until november. It would have been here in october but i ordered it two days too late. So you need to check with the bridal shops on ordering and shipments. Sometimes it can take 6 months+ for a dress to come in. Also you should have your dress ready a few months ahead of time for alterations, and anything you may want to change. There are few seamstresses in our town and the ladies at the bridal shops when I told them it needed to be hemmed and have a side sleeve added to it they said they very well could have it a few months considering all the other brides, proms, and anything else seamstresses may be busy with at that time. Especially considering its in the popular season. Plus it seems as soon as you have the wedding dress that's when you can finally decide on bridesmaids dresses, accessories, decorations, etc. It would really suck to pick stuff out and not have it match your dress:( Always best to be safe and have your dress than stress over it! :]

There are two reasons why sequins would change color.

First, some sequins are designed to change colors when light reflects off of them. This is normal for some sequins to change back and forth, depending on the lighting.

Another way that sequins change color is through age and improper storage. Sequins are plastic and will react by discoloring over time. This happens while stored in a closet even in the best of conditions. This is why it is important to have your dress preserved by a professional. Having a dress professionally prepared for storage will keep the dress as good as new as long as the seal is not broken. A professionally preserved dress is stored in acid free packaging which keeps the dress and the embellishments from turning yellow. I promise you that.

I'm shopping for dresses and decorations. Every site has a different color light purple. I need to know how close to each other these three colors are so that they don't clash. Any help is very welcome.

Any color names are subjective, and in my experience, not very representative... "lavender" the color doesn't usually look like "lavender the flower...
Generally, I would say that lilac is more pink than lavender, and that orchid is more pink than that.
There's no way to tell by the name of the color, or even a picture online, since the color representation depends on the websites color card settings, as well as the settings on your computer.
The only way to know for sure is to go to the stores and get a sample, take your camera to each place and photograph each item you're interested in, or...
Accept that there's going to be lots of different shades of light purple, and figure out ways to tie them all in together. For instance, picking up different pinky purple, and blue-purple flowers, ribbons, balloons, or crepe paper to decorate with, and mix them together with the stuff you're buying online. This is maybe more expensive than the others, but takes the least legwork.

Hi (: I'll be competing at a pageant in the summer and I want to pick out the perfect gown. The perfect gown involves choosing a color that suits me well. My skin is very light and my skin tone is cool, and I don't plan on tanning. I have dark ashy brown hair and my eyes are medium brown with golden undertones. The color I had in mind was coral but according to what I've seen online it doesn't suit me. However I have people tell me that I look good in every color because of my coloring. Is there a skin tone that can pull off every color? What colors would look the best on me? Which ones should I avoid? Do you think coral would look good on me? How about blush?

I don't think there's a skin color that can pull off every single color. Some colors just look better on certain people. Personally, I think you could definitely look nice in a coral! Especially if people tell you that it suits you. You could also go for a light blue/purple if you like those as well. Also, I like the 2nd dress more, even though that wasn't really your question.

Plus size brides should not feel limited to a certain style. It is your proportions, not your size that dictates the cut of the gown. If you have a hip measurement that is the largest of the three, try an empire waist. It will form fit just below the bust and flow away from any areas you may have concerns about. Tanks straps and halters mask any concerns above the bust however, if you choose to go strapless, there are certain scallopped neck lines that will come up high enough to cover that as well (adding a bolero jacket or shrug to strapless gowns will work if needed). I'm looking for wedding dress ideas that flatter my figure...I'm about 5'1 140 lbs...I'm a little more heavy on the bottom in the hips and thighs... I am told that empire waists are the only flattering wedding gowns for curvy girls but want more suggestions...I know I'm bigger than most wedding gowns are made for but I'm not a plus size woman (size 10) and most plus size dresses are for people 5'8 and taller... Need something that flatters a shorter than most and curvier than most figure...any suggestions are good suggestions...pictures, websites, or stores (preferably i the DC, DMV area) would be ideal

You need something that will make you appear taller and smaller.
So you need something that draws attention to your face and and waist.

An a-line or yes an empire waist dress will be best for you.
An a-line will draw attention to your waist and covering up your bottom half, making you appear smaller.
An empire dress the skirt starts just below your bust, making you appear taller.

Then look for dresses that have a lot of detailing at the top and/or ornate halter or spaghetti straps to draw the attention to your face.

Fix your hair really pretty, wear a gorgeous necklace or earrings depending on the amount of detailing at the top of the dress.

WHITE? Anything honey! If your playing up your eyes you can pretty much pick any color. I love wearing white because i can really really play up my eyes and they stand out. Im a make-up fanatic! Try this to play up the eyes...whatever eyeshadow you use make sure you wet your brush just a tad b4 you dip it into your eyeshadow. use a smaller slightly damp brush to dip in the eyeshadow and line the bottom rim of your eye! try it out!
