Money is a little tight right now because I'm having to buy senior pictures and my cap and gown and other senior stuff. I got accepted into University of Denver, which was my #1 choice. But, I'm really not comfortable going to a college that I've never even visited. Do you know of any airlines that are offering really cheap tickets (I mean less than $110 round trip from Washingto D.C to Denver, or Richmond, VA to Denver? Easy 10 points. I need a MIRACLE. All suggestions are welcome.

Answer
It will be extremely unlikely to get a ticket that cheap. Northwest Airlines has cheap flights from Dulles to Denver. The cheapest you can get in $170.39 with taxes in that price. That is round-trip, and for one adult. The flight departs from Dulles, and on return, arrives at Reagan.

Wed, Feb 11 Depart: 6:04 am Washington, DC (IAD) Northwest Airlines 1611
1 stop
Arrive: 10:22 am Denver, CO (DEN) Northwest Airlines 1771

Wed, Feb 18 Depart: 11:05 am Denver, CO (DEN) 1 stop
Arrive: 6:51 pm Washington, DC (DCA) Northwest Airlines 558

**The stop on the first flight is in Detroit DTW**
***The stop on the return flight is in Minneapolis/St. Paul MSP***

Where can I find plus size wedding dresses in Washington DC, VA, MD metro area?

Bridezilla

She is not really a plus size, but she has been shopping and all the sample dresses in the places she went were to small for her to try on. She is size 11/12, or a 14 depending on cut. She wants to find a place that there are actual dresses that she can try on in her size so she wants to find a place that can do that.

Answer
Unfortunately the sample sizes that normal bridal shops carry are very small. Most people usually don't get to try their wedding gown on in their size.
You can try going to David's Bridal if there is one in that area. I'm not a huge fan of David's Bridal, but the one thing that is good about their stores is the fact that they carry the same dress in all different sizes. It makes it a lot easier to try on - but most bridal shops have one sample only. If she likes David's Bridal gowns then this would be the perfect place. If not then she might have to do some more research.

I would have her look online at different designers and see if she likes any of the dresses on their website. If she sees one that she likes online she can locate a store that carries them in the area. She can then call the bridal shop and ask them if they a) if they have that sample in the store and b) what size the sample is. She can also ask them if they can order a sample in her size. Some bridal shops can do that, but you would most likely be charged for it. Usually they will charge you $50, but if you decide to purchase the dress then they will apply the $50 to your purchase.
If she wants to try on samples in her size then it's going to take a lot of research. It's frustrating not to be able to find a sample in your size since you want to know exactly how it is going to look on your wedding day, but hopefully she will be able to find something.

Can anyone tell me a store that sells petite size wedding gowns in the NJ/NY area?

I am super petite...I was just fitted for a bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding and I'm a 0. I cannot "visualize" what a gown is going to look like when they pin a size 12-16 on me...I'm sorry but it's impossible! I've only found David's Bridal...is there any others?

Answer
We live in NJ and my best friend is a 0 too. She got her dress at David's after having the same problem - most samples at other stores are a 10 or larger and she can't visualize. If you can't find a dress in your size, ask them if they can order a sample smaller or if they can get a smaller sample. If not, then you either have to be able to visualize your dress altered and fitting well or just stick to places that carry your size.

Good luck!

Help! My fiance and I have to pay for our wedding ourselves. We have set a budget for $5000 dollars that we think we can save. However, if that wasn't hard enough both our families are struggling financially. His family & friends live in Massachusetts and mine our in southern California. I don't even know where we should have it so that they can all come.

Answer
I'll be honest with you, I would think more in the place that has less expensive venues and caterers, or things like that rather than which of the side of the family to think of, I just got married in South CA (Palm Springs Area) and many of the family members we were expecting from places like San Francisco and L.A never showed up.. our budget was also $5000 but we went double that, it's not to scare you, it's only that we didn't measure and stick to our budget like we should have, I can't help you decide which of both places to choose, but I can help you with a few things that either helped me, or could have helped:

Dress: I went to David's Bridal to get it in June even though the wedding wasn't until December, if only I had waited a couple of months to get my dress I would have gotten it for 1/2 the price that I did, because David's will often reduce the prices on their dresses.. I also later found out that there are many bridal shops in L.A. where there are beautiful dresses for less than David's has them.. so if it's possible for you, look around. Also, I did not have the alterations done at David's, instead I found a trustworthy independent tailor who specialized in wedding dresses and she ironed and tailored it very cheaply.

Accessories: I bought beautiful but inexpensive jewelry, not real diamonds and such, and in the pictures and video they look beautiful and you can't even tell they're not real diamonds. Also, I bought one of the tiaras at Walmart and it looked amazing and not cheap at all! for the blusher I bought it at David's for $20 only to find out they have an exact one at Walmart for like $5, the veil I ordered at a less expensive bridal shop for like $50

Shoes: I did get from Payless and they were beautiful, inexpensive, they were only photographed once or twice and even got complimented on how nice they were, they ended up in the bottom of the table by the end of the night.. my advice is don't spend too much on shoes because you'll only wear them for a small amount of time, I got mine for under $30 also I would advice you to think comfort above beauty....

Tuxedo: My husband wanted to be able to keep his tux and so we ended up buying it but lucky enough we got it really cheap and with his shirt, tux, vest, tie, shoes and socks we spent under $300.. however if this is not the case with your fiance, I would recommend renting, it should be around or less than $100 with shoes

Flowers: Find a small flower shop, they tend to do beautiful work and very inexpensive. I asked around (which I recommend for you to do) until I found one that was at my price range.

Food: We bought all the ingredients and we only spent around $500 on food that my mom and a couple of our family members helped cook the night before, if you do this I recommend you have a refrigerator that has room enough for all the food. Also, don't over do it, we made food for around 400 because we were expecting around 300 but only about 200 people actually showed up, .. also, we went around for a few days and got 24-packs of sodas and waters while they were on sale (like when they're 4 for $10 at Smart and Final) and started storing them in our garage a week or so before the wedding, we spent $200-250 on sodas and water and we still had A LOT left over after the wedding. Also, I recommend you get a lot of water close to the same amount as sodas because when people are dancing they drink more water than soda..

transportation: We opted out of a limo because we thought it was something expensive that we could go without, instead we loved my fiance's '89 Cadillac and drove that around all day, if you have a nice car, you can just have someone drop you off at the ceremony and drive that nice car to the reception, or you can ask someone if they have a nice car to do you the favor of driving you around (i'm sure they'd agree because a lot of people during weddings are willing to help however they can, trust me!)

reception: we actually found a place that had everything included and that really helped save us a lot of money, the only thing they didn't offer was the food, drinks, cake and centerpieces, but it had the chairs, tables, china and glassware, and the reception room decorations. There are many places that offer these packages, ask around it really is a money-saver!

Decorations: If they're not included in the reception, like in our case the centerpieces weren't, then going to Micheal's is okay, but Walmart was my savior.. We bought everything there and made it ourselves, we got the glass vases and the little pebbles and candles and such, think of a centerpiece you'd like and then look around to see if you can make it, i would recommend also googling places that offer Wholesale if you can't find the materials you're looking for in stores where you live.

Favors: One of the best places for favors and other little things that you might need is Orientaltrading.com I also did a lot of googling with things like "wholesale wedding favors" and that turns up many results, look around and compare

Groomsmen and Bridesmaid: Like it was said before me. let them take care of their own things, it really is not up to you, nor is it rude for you not to take care of their expenses.. also, about the gift giving, we really couldn't afford it and so we made food at my house a few nights before the wedding and had a little party in their Honor, that was more than enough for them, we all had fun and it took a lot of stress off everyone...

Cake: I went and found someone who was an independent baker and she even gave us a free tasting before we got her to make our cake, look around and see if there is someone who is independent, or even in small bakeries, they do great jobs and are very inexpensive.

I also recommend that if you are going to go around and compare prices, you build your little personal wedding planning book, it was my lifesaver and I never parted anywhere without it until the wedding night.. It's very inexpensive and easy, here's how I did mine:

I bought a 1 1/2" White Binder (about $3-$4), in the front I slipped in a picture of my fiance and I, to add a personal touch, and also a small paper that said "Nancy & Bernardo's Wedding Planning Book" on top of the picture and on the bottom another that said our wedding date "December 19, 2009" Inside I put 8-tab dividers ($1-$3), and in each divider I put in sheet protectors ($12-$15 for 100pk)
I then labeled each divider tab according to what I wanted to get different quotes and such, mine looked like this:
1. Dress and Accessories
2. Tuxedo and Accessories
3. Ceremony
4. Reception
5. Food and Drinks
6. Decorations & Favors
7. music
8. Cake and Desserts

In each category I would store anything that belonged to it, for example when I was looking for a dress I printed out a few ones and put them in the sheets under the Dress category, since there were more than one my fiance never knew which one I chose :D
Also, this is where I would store the quotes that different companies and people where giving us, and where I stored receipts for everything we were spending (which in some way helped our budget)
I took this to every place where I would get a new quote and when people would see the prices others where giving they would offer better.

Hope all of this helped you, if you have any questions feel free to ask, I think I can offer a lot more, but I don't want to take the whole Yahoo page.. lol.. Congrats! and Hope that your planning goes well!!

How much does it cost for a small tattoo removal and how about scar ?

Tracy Tran

I got a small tattoo in the back (my zidiac sign). I think it's kinda small, but I want to remove it since it's too visible and I'm thinking about wearing wedding dress in the future. Can anybody tell me how much it costs and does it leave scar there (looks ugly I guess)????

Answer
To really remove a tattoo, you are looking at laser or IPL removal. Do not believe the ads about fade creams--they don't remove the tattoo entirely and are very caustic. Laser removal can run into several thousand dollars, depending on the size and colour saturation of the tattoo. It depends on how many sessions are needed, but based on a friends recent experience in CA it runs about 500 - 750 USD per session.

There may be some scarring but its minor and if your tattoo is small, barely noticeable with the laser method.

There is also IPL removel (Intense Pulsed Light) but the cost of that is much higher. Many people go this route because it is less painful for the skin and the healing time is faster, and the scaring is negligible.

has any one ever done this or seen it at a wedding? was it cute or just plain tacky? my bridesmaids are out of town and i want them to go to a bridesmaid shop and show them the color sample and pick a dress. will this work? the wedding is march 29,2008! any comments and suggestions will be helpful

Answer
I absolutely love the idea of letting the bridesmaids choose their own style of dress! Ladies come in all different sizes so a dress style that looks good on one of your maids will not necessarily look good on the rest of them. Plus, letting them choose a style increases the likelihood that they will be able to wear the dress again. So I applaud you for taking your ladies into consideration!!

The best way to pull off the same color/different dress look is to pick a color sample and possibly a fabric. Keep in mind that different fabrics in the same color may not match exactly. For example, periwinkle chiffon looks a little different than periwinkle satin. You may also want to pick a length (tea or full length) to add uniformity or leave it up to the ladies. Good luck!

ok i want my plus size bridesmaids to wear tea length?

YELLOW dresses. not light yellow either. my girls range from size 12-30. cheap would be preferred. any websites? im having a hard time because all the good ones are for skinny girls

i guess if i had to pick a second color it would be lavender? i really want yellow though
im only having 3 girls ... one is a size 12, one is a size 22 and one is a size 30

Answer
Davids bridal i hear has a good selection and during there sales they seem cheap. Also have you considered cutting down the amount of bridesmaids your having? Now you havnt specified how many but if your having trouble finding one style and colour that fits sucha wide variety of girls you could just have a couple. I had 2 in my bridal party and it was perfect. Also another option would be to tell them the colour and let them pick there own style of dress.

Under $50 bridesmaid dresses?? is it possible?

Emily

I have saved soooo much money on my wedding so far. My dress was 120 and i am in love with it, i booked one of the nicest restaurants in town for a very cheap price because I researched into discounts they offer. I am a bride on a budget and I have cut so far over 6,000 dollars by either improvising or finding something else. I'm now shopping for bridesmaid dresses (i have 5 bridesmaids) and I want to save a lot too. In particular, I want black strapless dresses but everything that comes up looks like they are either in a bar or it's $200. Is there a website or way that anyone knows that I can do this cheaply??
Thank you!!

Answer
Have a look on eBay. There are heaps of Chinese shops selling lovely dresses for bargain prices. Alot of the styles come in color choices plus size choices. Just remember to measure your girls well to order the correct size, the chinese sizes run small i found. If its a bit too big it can always be altered smaller but you cant turn smaller into bigger! Choose a seller with good feedback. I bought a stunning purple evening dress for about $100 and it looked like a $1000 dress. Otherwise, find a pattern you like, buy some material and find a dressmaker to make them up for you. Avoid using "W" word (wedding) as I found that the mere mention of wedding put the price up by 20%.

I'm attending a friend's wedding in December. I want to wear something semi-formal. I can't find any good (quality) places online. Any suggestions? I have about $150 to spend. Thanks.

Answer
You want to look into Alfred Angelo. Look at who carries his dresses in your area, and don't be put off by the price tag online, it isn't accurate. Alfred Angelo is very figure flattering and caters towards bigger girls. Also, his dresses he doesn't charge for plus size like most designers do. I weighed in at 300 lbs, and got a size 20 AA dress for 128 dollars, online price says 175. Also after I purchased it, found it at another site for 112. My alterations were 25 dollars. This was recent.

Also, David's bridal, I could not even fit into a 24.

What is the price difference between regular and plus size in bridal wear?

Samantha J

How much do manufacturer's charge for a special order plus size? Thanks.

Answer
It really depends on which designer you are looking at. My maid of honor was plus-sized. When we went to look at bridesmaid dresses we found that some designers charged up to $80.00 more for the plus size bridesmaid dress. I thought it was silly because they aren't adding that much extra material - but, unfortunately they will hike up the prices because it has to do with a "wedding."
Usually they can charge anywhere from $100-$200 more.
If you look at David's Bridal it might give you some idea of what they charge. For example, this gown is $799.00 for size 0 to 16; 14W to 26W is $849.00

Q. My fiance and I are getting married next year on April 22. I have no idea where to begin!?! When do we pick out our rings? What are some good wedding dress sites?

Answer
This is how I have come to determine where to start:

First pick a date (you have that)
Then you pick out where the ceremony will be, then the reception
Then its time to pick out the colors for your ceremony and the dresses for your bridal party
Pick a caterer (you will want plenty of time to search and go to tastings to find the right one)
Decide on if you will have alcohol at the reception...there may be time restrictions when applying for the liquor license, if applicable
Time to pick a photographer and DJ if you will use one
Chose a place to order your wedding cake
Chose a florist for any flowers you will have, including bouquets if applicable
DONT FORGET TO APPLY FOR THE MARRIAGE LICENSE lol
Try on dresses. I wouldn't try on dresses more then 6 months before the wedding.
Order your rings. Most jewelers can have your rings within 2 weeks, so its not something you have to do way way in advance.

Newly engaged and planning to have the wedding in 11 months. How do I plan?

Stacie!

I'm not at all sure where to begin.

What should the agenda be as far as month to month planning for this wedding? I have no idea when appropriate times to plan certain things are. HELP!

Answer
I remember being in the same situation. I knew nothing about planning a wedding and I had no one to help me. The good thing is that you have plenty of time. I planned mine in less than 4 months. Here is how I planned (and still planning) mine:

1) Come up with a realistic budget with your fiance. What can you afford? Also come up with a tentative guest list for quoting purposes.

2) Decide what type of wedding you want to have. Do you want to have your ceremony in a church and then the reception at a hotel banquet room? Do you want to have your wedding at a house?

3) Research available venues. I wanted a beach wedding so I googled "beach wedding venues in the bay area" and came up with a ton of information.

4) Check date availability and get quotes. Prices vary greatly from place to place. I found a place that wanted to charge $80+ a head and the place I booked is much nicer and only charges $45 a head.

5) Make an appointment to meet with the wedding coordinator to look at the place. If you like it an can afford it, make a deposit to hold your date.

6) Research and get quotes from photographers

7) Research DJ's or band in your area and pay a deposit to book their services. I found a company that offered a showcase so I got to see what they were about before I booked. Companies are better than booking individuals because they have backups if the DJ gets sick or can't make it for any reason.

8) Get an idea of what you want your colors, flowers, or themes to be. Print pictures of flowers / bouquets off the Internet and show them to florists. Get quotes and book your florist.

9) Look at wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses, and print pictures of ones you like. Make an appointment at your local bridal shop (give yourself at east 4 months or more). The dresses usually take up to 16 weeks to be tailored and sent to the bridal shop. I chose my bridesmaids dresses the same day and at the same shop I got my wedding dress from.

10) Book your officiant / pastor / rabbi. If the one you had in mind is busy on your wedding day then ask him or her for a referral. I got my officiant through a referral and she seems really nice.

11) See if your hairstylist can do your hair /and or make-up the day of your wedding. If she or he cannot travel to where you will be married then look around for local salons and get trial hair and make-up to be sure you will like what they can do for you.

12) Look for bakeries that do wedding cakes and choose what type of cake you want and how you want it to look. Book their services for your date.

13) 3 months before you wedding (no earlier than that or it will expire) obtain your marriage license permit in the county you will be married in. You might have to go down to the clerks office with your fiance and show your ID's and make a payment. Call or search the county recorders office in the county you will be married, and ask what they need from you. Also ask your officiant if all they need is the permit. Our officiant is going to take care of the documents after the wedding, we just need to give her the permit.

14) Search and purchase your wedding favors and wedding party gifts. Look into table numbers and seating assignment charts if you will be assigning seating.

15) Make sure your fiance makes an appointment at a tux shop with his wedding party to pick out their attire. This can be a few months before the wedding.

Note: When selecting your vendors, make sure you tell them you are on a budget (if so) and they will almost always go down in price. Our photographer gave us $500 off his regular fee and I had one guy go down half his price when he found out I was choosing another vendor who was cheaper.

I'm sure I left some things out. Just look up a wedding check list and check the items off as you go. Happy planning!

Answer
sorry, i can't go on youtube. my parents wont let me but for the first dress, I would just curl your hair, then clip a piece of it to the side with a bobby pin.

for the second dress, I would put your hair into a bun, then leave some hair dangling in the front , like below:

What is the best sort of dress to wear to a wedding in the Caribbean?

Alissa

My cousin is getting married in this coming spring 2013 in Dominican Republic. I need to buy a dress to wear to the wedding. I am 20 years old and short, 5"3. I found this funky colored dress for 12$ that is short but tasteful, as well as it suits my artsy taste in clothes. Are short dresses good for Caribbean weddings?
Also, do woman wear heels to weddings down south? The wedding is on the resort, not the beach.

Answer
I think you'll look great in a summer but elegant summer dress not a cheap one from Target lol.

I'm going to be attending a wedding on the other side of the country at the end of September. It's in a very (very!) nice hotel at the end of September. The wedding is at 2:30 with 'cocktails, dinner and formal reception to follow'.
I'm 25 years old, 5'6 and between a size 14-16. I haven't worn a dress since my high school graduation, but the bride has stated that she's excited to see me in one.
What would you recommend?

Here are some ideas:

Stick with a solid color for a sleek, polished look. Plus, look for versatility! Since it's in the fall, jewel tones are really nice (e.g. emerald, ruby). Royal blue is nice, too! I love maxi dresses or gowns because they cover up the legs and show off the décolletage. Or stick with classic dresses that don't show too much cleavage and the butt cheeks, and are modest in length. Tip: If a dress doesn't go past your fingertips, it's too short!

Dress up your outfit with minimal, simple, and elegant accessories in silver, gold, or both. I would also stick to heels instead of flats.

Good luck finding the right dress!

P.S. I think it's more stressful finding a dress as a guest than it is as a bride! lol

What would be the best style of Wedding Dress?

Carol

I'm getting married again in a couple of years. We're getting married on the beach. What would be the best style for a 48 year old, plus size, getting married for the 3rd time Bride? I've done the whole long white gown thing, I did the ivory mother of the bride look, but want something different this time around. Hopefully this time it'll stick!!

Answer
Maybe get a sweetheart neck line dress that goes to your ankles or knees. You should get a dress that's knee length, or ankle length. Maybe try a victorian looking dress. There's a lot of options, so I;ll just leave you with some pictures. Tip: don't do a long dress since it'll be on the beach with sand and maybe even sand crabs.

What did you do with your wedding dress after the wedding?

wedding gowns for petite brides

wedding gowns for petite brides image

Tylers Mum

Just curious.
How many people store it? Sell it? Wear it again? Do that whole 'Trash The Dress' thing?
What did you do with your wedding dress?

Answer
I had it dry cleaned and vacuum stored for now. Not as soon as I should have though! ;)

If my husband will let me, I plan to wear it again. For me, that was always my intention when I had it custom made. I'm not one of those traditional sentimental types who dreamed about their wedding gown since they were 10. I hate the poofy "McGowns", not my style. My gown was not traditional, and I could get away with wearing it to a formal event. I can't wait to wear it again.

I don't expect that if I have a daughter, she'll want to wear my gown. Not at all. And it's not something I care about. Styles change, and what I loved may be nothing like her taste. And she may not be my size. I'm petite, and my husband is almost 6'3.

The whole "trash the dress" idea didn't really appeal to me, but some brides say that was the best part of the wedding. You decide. ;)

Nobody here should judge. Everybody is different. It's your day, your dress. If you do plan to keep it in storage, the best advice I can offer is to get your gown cleaned RIGHT AWAY. So many brides have their gown in the closet and forget to do this. By the time they want to have it boxed up, the stains have set.

Also, take your gown to a dry cleaner familiar with wedding gowns. I had some *serious* issues with my gown, and some damage (thankfully on the underside) that I am not sure if I can ever fix. I was ticked off. Beware.

Many people do sell their gowns. Gown sharing and donating your gown to breast cancer research or charities for military brides are other options. Personally, I think wedding gowns are too expensive to wear for less than one day and thrown in a box. But maybe that's just me! It's not the gown that's important, it's the memories of the day!

:)

What kind of wedding dress would best fit my silhouette?

Hayl X

im very small all around.. barely 5' about 98 pounds small chested (34 small B) small waist, and small bum. ive never been dress shopping and im starting to look online for designers i like but i dont even know where to begin. What would you suggest for my body type?

Answer
What you want to do is add some height and the illusion of curves to your frame. One of the most important things for petite women to remember is scale. Since youâre petite and appear to be in shape, you can wear just about any gown as long as you scale down to the right proportion. By thinking vertically, it will be easier to figure out which dresses suit you best. For instance, choose a bodice and neckline that draw the eye up to your decolletage. Consider the following things when searching for a gown:

Silhouettes:
-Go for a mermaid since youâre slim and petite. Itâs fitted like an evening gown up top and has all the bounce and swirl of a ball gown below.
- If you would rather have the look of a ball gown, go for an A-line gown.
- If you are just looking for a simple way to add height, go for a sheath gown
*REMEMBER: Length over volume when considering your skirt*

Neckline: A V or U-neck gives the impression of a longer neck.

Bodice: Empire waists are one of your best options if you go floor length.

Detail:
-Look for a gown with a panel or seams running up the front. The unbroken lines give you height.
- Prints and laces as well as any motifs should be scaled down and worn on the upper portions of the body. Busy designs below the waist (even small ones) draw all eyes downward.
- Go for soft and sheer fabrics like crepe and chiffon that drape to the body.

Do NOT go for a dress with any of the following characteristics:

- Any ball gown. The volume in the skirts will consume you.

- Heavy, elaborate fabrics like brocade or any print or design that is large.

- Wide belts, sashes and cummerbunds interrupt the vertical lines you want to create. If you do wear a sash or belt go thin (1-1 ½ inches) and as close to the shade of your gown as you can get.

- Any design with big puffy sleeves or shoulder pads.

- Any train longer than a sweep.

Is 13 months too early to purchase wedding gown?

Is it too early? I heard it takes a long time to order etc... also, what happens once I get the dress? Do I need to have it cleaned before the wedding will the dress change colors?
Thanks all for your advice!

Answer
It is never too early to look for a wedding dress! :] Once you find the one it's the one and nothing will change. It won't go out of style either. However it depends all on the bridal shops! I ordered my wedding dress in may(i'm not getting married until july 2011 so i went 14 months early) and it won't be here until november. It would have been here in october but i ordered it two days too late. So you need to check with the bridal shops on ordering and shipments. Sometimes it can take 6 months+ for a dress to come in. Also you should have your dress ready a few months ahead of time for alterations, and anything you may want to change. There are few seamstresses in our town and the ladies at the bridal shops when I told them it needed to be hemmed and have a side sleeve added to it they said they very well could have it a few months considering all the other brides, proms, and anything else seamstresses may be busy with at that time. Especially considering its in the popular season. Plus it seems as soon as you have the wedding dress that's when you can finally decide on bridesmaids dresses, accessories, decorations, etc. It would really suck to pick stuff out and not have it match your dress:( Always best to be safe and have your dress than stress over it! :]

do sequens on a wedding dress change colors?

Kayla D

My wedding dress sequens change from white to yellow. The lady at the store said that they do this after so long. Is this true

Answer
There are two reasons why sequins would change color.

First, some sequins are designed to change colors when light reflects off of them. This is normal for some sequins to change back and forth, depending on the lighting.

Another way that sequins change color is through age and improper storage. Sequins are plastic and will react by discoloring over time. This happens while stored in a closet even in the best of conditions. This is why it is important to have your dress preserved by a professional. Having a dress professionally prepared for storage will keep the dress as good as new as long as the seal is not broken. A professionally preserved dress is stored in acid free packaging which keeps the dress and the embellishments from turning yellow. I promise you that.

What's the best dress color for dark skin?

dress color dark skin

dress color dark skin image

Keke

My skin is medium-dark, (the color of my avatar) and I'm going dress shopping soon for a dance. What would be the best dress color and what accesories?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Answer
It all depends on your personality. If you are passionate and outgoing, wear red - it would bring out the warmness in your skin and would show off your strong personality.
If you're down to earth, relaxed and friendly, green would be beautiful, especially dark/olive green.
Purple is also pretty, and of course the classic black/white.

As for cut, just wear something flattering for your body shape that makes you feel comfortable and confident. This website can help you finding the right dress for your body type:
http://www.promgirl.net/

They have some cute stuff, you can use it for ideas. If you can't find a dress u like, remember you don't have to look for just a "prom dress"- it can be in the regular dress section.

The best colors for medium dark skin are either red, a deep purple, or navy blue. Also beautiful fiery reds and velvets, or deep purples would suit you complexion...and indigo would look absolutely stunning!

Colour is not so important like a beautiful smile...it makes any outfit look great. :)
And the most important, wear something to show off your personality!

Good luck. ;)

What colours look good on dark skin on a guy?

No.

I have dark skin, jet black hair, and my eyes are dark brown...they pretty much look black.

People tell me I can't dress worth ****. Which colours should I go for and which should I avoid.

Answer
Depends on who will see you in what situation, and what you wish to project. For social occasions, try pale colors that are still masculine, like green, gray, aqua, hold down the accents of gold or silver. Watch a few of the old "Miami Vice" shows which had a black guy in nice clothes. Still classic.
For business, cannot beat pinstripes on gray or blue. White shirt with a solid color tie that does not shout at a viewer.

I have to attend a wedding tommorow its an evening wedding .I have never attended an American wedding before. So i was wondering if i can wear a traditional Indian dress , or do u have to wear western only... Also the dress im planning to wear is black and grey in color. Is that an appropriate color for a wedding over here. Also wat kind of accesories, jewelry, etc etc should i wear.
And another question, what should i make my 4 yr old son wear?

Answer
black is fine if you have something bold to bring out the dullness of black.. like shoes with some color and a colored bag with a silver necklace or something, black isnt bad to wear you just got to rock it!

Nya

My fiancé went into the military and comes back from AIT December 11th. We want to have the wedding December 15th. Nothing big just the immediate family (meaning mom, dad, siblings and grandparents). The rest of the family will get wedding announcements. Only problem is even though it is going to be a small wedding there will still be a good 10-15 people there and I want it to be pretty nice.

So I guess my question is,
where do I start?
This is all basically on me to set up since he isn't here.

Can I get advice please?
I want to keep it below 2,000; is that possible?

Answer
Of course you can do this and still have it nice! Remember, the only "must haves" are your marriage license (check state or county website on what that costs) and your officiant. Everything else is discretionary. I know exactly what I would do if I was planning a wedding like this. I'd get an officiant lined up and then find a really nice restaurant that has private dining. Then I'd have the ceremony and wedding in that private room. This is becoming popular and restaurants love weddings. Nicer ones also have gorgeous decorations this time of year. All you'd have to do is meet a minimum of food, and they'll work with you on that. With a group this small, you might be able to order off the menu but there's no reason you couldn't come up with a fixed price one if you needed to control costs. They'd have several options for apps, salads, entree etc.

On the officiant, if you want a Christian ceremony instead of a more civil type one, this is usually possible. You'd just ask your county or city for a list of registered officiants. You can also find them on yellowpages.

The planning for the reception part is minimal once you've picked your site. You just pick the menu and they'll have the room nicely decorated. They'll also work with you on the cake - they may require that it be baked onsite, but you'll have some options on what you get. Or maybe they'd put together wedding cupcakes.

After that, all you have left is getting a dress and also maybe a bouquet for yourself. Grocery stores have reasonably priced bouquets. For your dress, if you want a bridal gown, check out what your nearest David's Bridal has. They always have a $99 dollar rack of stuff that can be very nice. Otherwise, just find a really pretty dress for around that price.

Also, if you do decide to go with this plan, you need to get started quickly on the restaurant. This is a very busy time of year for them, because so many offices plan Christmas parties. Once you've given them a deposit, there just isn't that much left to do. Personally, I'd phone family with the dates and location, but you have plenty of time to find some DIY invites if you want.

Does anybody know of any cheap wedding ideas?

aleje23

I am on a short leashed budget and still want to have a decent wedding. If anybody has any ideas on cakes, catering, decorations, photography, dresses etc. please let me know! :) Also any great websites would be much appreciated as well :-) Thanks!

Answer
For the dress, I absolutely love David's Bridal and their $99 sales which always seem to be going on.
Target also has a new line of wedding gowns for a very reasonable price, I think all of them are under $200.
You can always rent one too, my mom's got eaten by mice in our garage anyhow!
For the cake, you can search the internet for the basic idea of what you like, then take a picture of it to your local Walmart and they will recreate it for you!
It is really awesome, and they do amazing things!
A fraction of the price of any other cake.
College students can come in really handy too.
If you have a cullinary school near by, check out if you could get a senior student or a recent grad to make you your dream cake.
They aren't used to getting much money, so they would be cheap and it would give them experience and exposure for their portfolio.
Photography majors could also help out.
Tons of wedding photographers have never gone to school for photography, but a college kid would know all of the latest tricks of the trade- all of that crazy technology now-a-days!
They would be cheap since they need exposure and experience too.
You could even request to see samples of their work to make sure you are safe.
They would be thrilled for the opportunity.
Don't use a familly member or close friend for the photographer though, too many things could screw up that situation!
Decorations are easy.
Making them yourself would be your cheapest way to go.
For tablecloths, you could either rent them from a party supply store or have someone hem some lovely fabric of your choice from a fabric store nearby.
Centerpieces?
I always love creative candle arrangements, and you could even make those your wedding favors for the guests.
Go to walmart, the dollar tree, or a cheap craft store and get some glass dishes to fill with a little water, fill the very bottom with some marbles or glass beads, then get floating candles to light in the center.
I've seen square mirrors set underneath the centerpiece and even little christmas lights look really cool to just drape around the whole arrangement.
Flower centerpieces are great too.
You could get some fresh flowers from a local farmer or from your farmer's/saturday market, or use fake ones from walmart or the craft store.
Get a few of your favorite blooms and set them in a skinny clear vase that is filled with colored water, glass marbles, pebbles, pennies, beans, whatever.
Everyone love candy, you could buy a few bags of m&m's, red hots, dinner mints, anything small, and sprinkle them around the centerpiece or even the whole table for cute, edible decor.
I have also seen picture frames with pictures of one or both of the couple.
You could use pictures of when you were growing up at different stages at all of the tables, or your engagement pictures, or even pictures from the wedding that were developed before the reception if that is possible.
With this idea you can use frames you already have, get cheap matching ones, buy a hodge podge from a second hand store, borrow some from a friend, anything goes!
It is a very personal touch to have pictures out, wherever you display them.
I don't really know anything about catering, but you can always recruit friends and family to help prepare any food you want present on your big day.
If you shop for your food at the store, make sure to check the unit price of each item to get the best deal.
Some stores will give you a discount if you talk to the manager ahead of time and are getting a big quantity.
Also, ask a manager about any future sales that they could tell you about, sometimes they can't tell you though.
Make sure your food won't go bad before the day you need it.
My friend had a reception with only cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa, and everyone loved it.
She had friends each bring a few dozen of their favorite recipe, some orange rolls, with nuts, with raisens, with chocolate frosting, with extra cinnamon goo!
We made the hot cocoa as it was needed in three big fancy crockpots that were lended to us.
It is amazing how creative you can get and how fun it can be when you are forced to stick to a budget.
Have fun and remember that it is your day to have what you want, no one else gets to criticize your choices!
Don't worry too much what everyone will think or what is expected from you, just stay pleasant and all will go wonderfully.
Good luck and congratulations!
Best wishes!

What would be appropriate attire for a middle-aged woman to wear to relative's wedding?

My aunt told me my cousin is engaged and the wedding will likely be late summer or early autumn. I assume I will be invited, but I don't know if it will be formal or casual. I don't own any really "dress-up" clothes. The best thing I have right now is a pair of jeans with no holes or tears and a scrub-type top with butterflies on it. Getting me to dress-up is like getting Peppermint Patty to wear a dress. Any suggestions?

Answer
Arg - Middle age - That's me and it's tough to go shopping, isn't it? You don't want to wear something too young and trendy and end up looking like a "Real Housewife", yet you don't want to look like an old lady wearing Sag Harbor, either. You also want to wear something that you would wear again. Every woman should have a few good staples in her wardrobe. For example, a little black dress. Once you have one, you'll find yourself wearing it all the time.

You can't go wrong with the LBD:

My fiance is in the Army, so he has to wear his dress blue uniform. Which is a black jacket and navy blue pants..
I cant think of any colors i can use for the wedding without making it look tacky or without him being out of place....HELP please!

Answer
As you may have noticed, or for sure you should know by now, everyone has her own thinking as to what fits well with what especially since fashion is by no means exact science.

With what you've said, I would suggest you go for a color that will not make you feel in anyway uncomfortable when your standing there together with him. This means brighter colors are out of the picture so as you won't put him out of place right? By process of elimination, I would say why not go with the safest color which is white?

I would also like commend Mistic Blue's suggestion of having your wedding invitation somehow "set the tone" for the wedding so it should have something blue on it to represent your hubby's service uniform. You can check on zazzle.com or customize your own on http://www.jackandjillweddinginvitations.com/blue-wedding-invitations and some other sites that offer the same service.

What is the bright green military cord for?

Erica Lyn

It's the shoulder cord on the dress uniform and I don't know what branch of the military it's for. It's bright green and I think it has a brass tip. It's just green no other color.

Answer
It's the French Fourragere. It's not specific to a branch but to Military units that were awarded it during World War II. When you get assigned to a unit that has it you are authorized to wear it since it is a unit award. Once you leave that unit to one that is not authorized it must be taken off. It is the highest award given in the French Army.
