My fiance and I are a young couple. We are both 19 years old, but we are in love. We want to get married this coming up summer. How much does a small wedding cost?
Answer
it depends on how much you are willing to or really can afford to spend.
I'm getting married in Fall of next year (Oct 14th) and our estimated cost for everything (and I mean everything-dresses,flowers,food,dj,etc) is about 7 thousand. I am making my own centerpieces and decorating the ceremony location myself as well (making lighted flower garlands for the gazebo, tying bows to chairs, etc).
here are some things u can do to save money:
-have your wedding in a public (but nice) park-most of these place charge next to nothing and you can rent a wedding arch and chairs pretty cheap too.
-if you have a family member with a nice backyard-ask them if you can use it for your ceremony, reception,or both!! this will save you a TON of money and again-you can rent the arch and chair to decorate
-if u are having the reception at someone's home, have a potluck style reception-ask family members (close ones-not the people attending the wedding) to bring a dish to share w/everyone.
-check local grocery stores or warehouses (such as costco or sam's club) for your cake-I nice white cake w/roses on it from costco feeds up to 50 people and it's 14 bucks! I get one for each of my girls' birthdays and they are the best tasting cakes ever!!
-check hobby lobby craft store for your flowers (they have bouqets already made for about 20 dollars your soon to be wife can use), decorations, etc. they have a huge bridal section and I bought several items there for my wedding.
-check ebay and craigslist for wedding gowns or wait until david's bridal runs their 99 dollar sale for your fiance's wedding dress.
-make your centerpieces yourself-there are a ton of ideas out there on the web-just google homemade wedding centerpieces to see what u can come up with
-have a family member take pictures and video (or hunt around on the web for good deals-we paid 995 for our photographer and that gave us all day, pics of me getting ready,a separate spot to take pics outside of the wedding venue, and ALL of our photos on a disc).
if you can spare 5-7k then try these options:
-have your ceremony and reception both in the same spot. Most places will offer you a discount if you use them for both.
-hunt around (and alot) for your DJ,photgrapher, and florist (if using one)..there are people out there that will charge you 3 grand to do your pics and people that will only charge a thousand like ours :)
-make a budget and stick to it-don't deviate from it at all
-set your wedding on a friday or sunday-venues and services (dj,photographers, etc) will charge less for those days.
hope this helps!!

Any suggestions on a how to have a very chic but affordable wedding?

My fiance & I just had our son. We want to have a small wedding with around 75-100 people next year on about a 10,000 dollar budget. My mom has a beautiful backyard so we have the venue covered. I'm not into the huge "party reception" I just want an elegant ceremony & a few hors derves & drinks to follow. My main priority is to have a beautiful gown, flowers, a gorgeous cake & invites. Any suggestions on ways to make it look lustrous & fantastic without going over budget? I'm open to any suggestions.

Look for packages. and Dress Sales. I got my wedding dress new for 99.99 and everybody's freaking because it looks like it was 1000.000(I think the original price was 647...) I got my 2 tier veil with my dress half off as well.
Plus we're getting married at a beautiful bed and breakfast that does the catering, cake, serving, tents, clean up, ect, for over 100 guests, for 3500.00.
I'm also looking at cruises for our honeymoon. Carnival does 7 day cruises to 3 caribean islands, food/drinks included for 864.00(I think that's per person but I still like the thought)
Plus for reception things that I'd like to add in, I go to http://www.orientaltrading.com
You can also make your own bouquets or find a crafty person who can make them for you. Just go to a walmart, dollar tree, hobby lobby, sams club, ect and pick out the flowers.
