Just curious.
How many people store it? Sell it? Wear it again? Do that whole 'Trash The Dress' thing?
What did you do with your wedding dress?

Answer
I had it dry cleaned and vacuum stored for now. Not as soon as I should have though! ;)

If my husband will let me, I plan to wear it again. For me, that was always my intention when I had it custom made. I'm not one of those traditional sentimental types who dreamed about their wedding gown since they were 10. I hate the poofy "McGowns", not my style. My gown was not traditional, and I could get away with wearing it to a formal event. I can't wait to wear it again.

I don't expect that if I have a daughter, she'll want to wear my gown. Not at all. And it's not something I care about. Styles change, and what I loved may be nothing like her taste. And she may not be my size. I'm petite, and my husband is almost 6'3.

The whole "trash the dress" idea didn't really appeal to me, but some brides say that was the best part of the wedding. You decide. ;)

Nobody here should judge. Everybody is different. It's your day, your dress. If you do plan to keep it in storage, the best advice I can offer is to get your gown cleaned RIGHT AWAY. So many brides have their gown in the closet and forget to do this. By the time they want to have it boxed up, the stains have set.

Also, take your gown to a dry cleaner familiar with wedding gowns. I had some *serious* issues with my gown, and some damage (thankfully on the underside) that I am not sure if I can ever fix. I was ticked off. Beware.

Many people do sell their gowns. Gown sharing and donating your gown to breast cancer research or charities for military brides are other options. Personally, I think wedding gowns are too expensive to wear for less than one day and thrown in a box. But maybe that's just me! It's not the gown that's important, it's the memories of the day!

:)

What kind of wedding dress would best fit my silhouette?

im very small all around.. barely 5' about 98 pounds small chested (34 small B) small waist, and small bum. ive never been dress shopping and im starting to look online for designers i like but i dont even know where to begin. What would you suggest for my body type?

Answer
What you want to do is add some height and the illusion of curves to your frame. One of the most important things for petite women to remember is scale. Since youâre petite and appear to be in shape, you can wear just about any gown as long as you scale down to the right proportion. By thinking vertically, it will be easier to figure out which dresses suit you best. For instance, choose a bodice and neckline that draw the eye up to your decolletage. Consider the following things when searching for a gown:

Silhouettes:
-Go for a mermaid since youâre slim and petite. Itâs fitted like an evening gown up top and has all the bounce and swirl of a ball gown below.
- If you would rather have the look of a ball gown, go for an A-line gown.
- If you are just looking for a simple way to add height, go for a sheath gown
*REMEMBER: Length over volume when considering your skirt*

Neckline: A V or U-neck gives the impression of a longer neck.

Bodice: Empire waists are one of your best options if you go floor length.

Detail:
-Look for a gown with a panel or seams running up the front. The unbroken lines give you height.
- Prints and laces as well as any motifs should be scaled down and worn on the upper portions of the body. Busy designs below the waist (even small ones) draw all eyes downward.
- Go for soft and sheer fabrics like crepe and chiffon that drape to the body.

Do NOT go for a dress with any of the following characteristics:

- Any ball gown. The volume in the skirts will consume you.

- Heavy, elaborate fabrics like brocade or any print or design that is large.

- Wide belts, sashes and cummerbunds interrupt the vertical lines you want to create. If you do wear a sash or belt go thin (1-1 ½ inches) and as close to the shade of your gown as you can get.

- Any design with big puffy sleeves or shoulder pads.

- Any train longer than a sweep.
