What color of hair looks best with an orange dress?

wedding dress color samples

wedding dress color samples image

JC

My sisters wedding is this weekend (I am a brides maid), and I am getting my hair highlighted the day before. (don't worry, the girl that colors my hair has been coloring it for 4 years) The dress color she chose me to wear is almost a burnt orange. My hair color now is mostly blonde. I don't know if it would look better if I put some darker brown low lights in with some really blonde high lights or not. But the color my hair is now looks terrible with the dress color.

Answer
What would really be beautiful is if you took it to the next step and dyed it a dark brown completely. Not only would that look excellent with that burnt orange dress but that color goes with almost everything. If you not looking to go that drastic, maybe you'd like some highlights in a honey hue, a golden brown hue, some browns, and some darker browns to give it some dimension. When you go to the salon ask if they have samples of the hair colors they can give you and see what your prepared to do and what you think suits you and the dress, because ultimately you're the one living with your hair and if you not happy with it, no one can make you like it. hope this helps!

Would you wear a colored wedding dress instead of white?

CoutureAdv

Would you wear a colored wedding dress instead of white and if so what color? This is suppose to be a new trend. I've seen some beautiful ones. Would you do it if it was your first wedding or only consider it if it was other than your first wedding?

Check out these samples of colored wedding dress:

Has anyone ever been to a weeding where the bride wore a colored wedding dress , is so what color?

Answer
Yes! White is so old fashioned and lets face it, almost no one is a virgin when married anymore and that is what the white represented.

Is it possible to make money out of designing wedding dresses?

wedding dresses with color and design
on CUP OF JO: Do or Don't: Colorful wedding dresses
wedding dresses with color and design image

Laura

I love to design wedding dresses. I have many different designs that i have already done and have many more ideas. At the moment I do this as a hobby but i would like to turn it into more.
PS...I cannot sew so i cannot make the dresses that i design and i think that this is a real shame

Answer
I see you are a fashion designer. You can design good dress and you can make money definitely. The amazing thing about fashion, is that styles are constantly recycled. Though the modern bride circa 2013 may still want a long sleeved, long train ball gown. Fashions changed from gowns of color to ones of white, or a variation of white, but since it wasn't a practical shade for most purposes, blue became another favorite.

How easy/hard is it to become a wedding dress designer?

Xanthe

I am looking at a career change and since I have spent so much time looking at and designing dresses (especially wedding dresses) I was wondering how hard it would be to get into the industry?

I would plan on doing a course to help with my sewing skills etc. Any information and/or help from dress designers (or people who know dress designers) would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
It depends how big you want to be, as a designer.
Colour knowledge and accessories isn't all you need.
A sewing course is a good start, but it may just qualify you as a seamstress, and what you really need is a fashion design course. There are so many aspects to design that the general public do not understand, and you really need to spend time developing other skills.

I fell in love with this dress http://www.thefashionpolice.net/2010/08/dress-of-the-day-oasis-cream-lace-prom-dress.html but it's not formal enough for prom. Can my bridesmaids wear the same color dresses but different styles?

All of my bridesmaids are different body shapes and I want them all to be comfortable in what they are wearing. I am going to get the dresses from Davids bridal, so I know they will all be the exact color but will it look silly if they are in different style dresses? I just want them to be comfortable, I have some very skinny bridesmaids and then some plus sized girls, all of whom I love the same so I dont want to make anyone upset by making them wear something that only half of them are happy with

Answer
That's what I'm having for my bridesmaids ... they are also all VERY different, so I want them to be comfortable!

All the dresses are going to be black organza and cocktail length (so the same length, colour and fabric) but the style will be whatever the pick. My mom is making them so they can literally have WHATEVER they want. Each dress will also have a cranberry red velvet sash to bring in one of our wedding colours and to make them look even more cohesive.

It's a good idea for the bridesmaids because then they will actually like the dresses and could wear them again. I chose black so then my BMs will all have little black dresses to use after the wedding (who doesn't need an extra one of those in their closet!) ... the red sash will be removable.

Good Luck!

I am looking for a receipe for hot dog sauce to serve 40 people?

Anne2

this is for my son's wedding receiption. Any one have that?
And I want to make freezer cold slaw also. Any tips, suggestions will be appreciated, thank you.

Answer
Coney Island Hot Dog Sauce

Ingredients:
2 1/2 pounds hamburger meat
1 small onion, finely chopped
32 ounces tomato paste
32 ounces tomato purée
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1 1/2 tablespoon salt, plus
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Brown hamburger and onions in very large skillet, drain. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer, about 30 minutes uncovered (or longer if you want it reduced more). Stir frequently, as it will tend to stick.

Grill or steam your Hot dogs, place it on your favorite bun and top with the sauce.

Note: This sauce freezes well.

FREEZER COLD SLAW

2 1/2 lb. cabbage (grated)
1 or 2 carrots (grated)
1 green pepper (chopped)
1 sweet red pepper (chopped)
1 c. chopped celery
1 tsp. salt

Mix salt with cabbage. Let stand 1 hour. Squeeze out moisture and add carrots, peppers, celery. While cabbage is standing prepare:

1 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. mustard seed

Bring to a boil and boil 1 minute. Cool to lukewarm. Pour over slaw. Eat or freeze. Freeze in meal size packages. Keeps several days in refrigerator. The dressing is also good on tossed salad or cabbage salad.

Please help me, they could be from getting ready , the ceremony, and reception ideas.

Answer
Hey Christina, Congratulations,

Recently my sister gets married (1st of feb) and we did something different on her marriage, our theme was to enjoy each moment in heritage and royal style, we enjoyed lot in doing that. me trying to share those things here may be you will like. Hmm what about doing something in different culture or tradition for example -
- plan wedding location on any natural place hmm what about desert location in night with campfire??
- try some different culture wedding outfits instead of normal tradition (long skirts and formal suits or blazer for men), for your men you can try some indian wedding outfit like sherwani or jodhpuri suits see here http://www.rajasthanistore.com/rajasthani-sherwanis/trendy-jodhpuri-suit-style-sherwani.html (sure he will look very handsome in shewani outfits)
- for you, you can try these cute bridal wears http://www.utsavsarees.com/pages/sarees.asp?cid=2&type=Bridal (looks something different :))
- I seen in some countries itâs tradition that bride or groomâs friends or brother sisters wear same dress up and that is amazing idea, you can do that too, means your brothers can also wear sherwani or some type of same dress up ï
- you can also play some love games for couples, decorate home in old style

Main theme is to celebrate each moment in heritage and in different tradition hope it will help you, best of luck for your wedding.

Job interview fashion tips for Men?

g-money

I wanted to get some fashion tips on how to dress appropriately for a job interview. What looks best on men on a job interview?

1. Shirts: Plain white, blue, or pinstripes?

2. Tie: Plain, texture, stripes, ect?

3. Hair: Trendy or conservative?

4. Jewelry: Watches, necklaces, bracelets, ect?

Answer
1. Shirts: Plain white, blue, or pinstripes?
White and well pressed. Alternatively French blue with white collar and French cuffs.

2. Tie: Plain, texture, stripes, ect?
conservative - can be solid or striped - compliment the clothes though. 100% silk. A tie chain looks better than a pin through your tie and won't ruin your tie. A symmetrical knot - with dimple; not pre-tied or clip-on. People notice the knot - learn to tie several and see which suits you (and your shirt of choice) best.

3. Hair: Trendy or conservative?
Doesn't matter as long as it's well done. Not anything extreme though.

4. Jewelry: Watches, necklaces, bracelets, ect?
A quality watch (leave the cheap one at home), one ring only (usually college/military or wedding ring). No bracelets or visible necklace. Match cuff links and tie-chain (if wearing either) to the watch.

What looks best is well fitted and pressed. Few other considerations matter. Being ill-fit just looks bad and not pressed looks like you don't care about hygeine.

5) good quality, shined, leather shoes. They notice the shoes too.

What kind of wedding flowers would compliment a turquoise theme?

My bridesmaids, wedding dress trim, and groomsmen will all be rocking turquoise at our wedding in a year. My mother is in charge of flowers and is having a hard time coming up with something that will compliment that color! I thought pink roses or stargazer lilies would be best but she thinks
I'm nuts. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Answer
The best way to compliment turquoise would be with strong vivid colors that match light blue. Forget the light creams and whites and go bold with deep purples, reds and even orange. Use Lisianthus, dahlias, garden roses and lilac. New Zealand calla lilies come in a variety of colors, look rich and can be easily placed in any design.

How do I find out information on an iridescent wedding gown/dress?

aheikens

My wedding is in 2 years, but I'm thinking that it is going to take that long finding my gown. I'm not interested in a white gown. Traditionally speaking I'm not supposed to anyway. But I really would like to have an ivory/cream colored gown with a dusty rose color underneath. I'm having a hard time finding anything on the web. Do I contact fabric stores, go to bridal shops, how do i find information on any wedding gowns?
Thanks guys for the help!
Planning weddings are hard.

Answer
Hey! I work at a Bridal Salon! Finally a question I can answer with accuracy! Well, actually I have to agree with the above answerers, definetly go into a salon. A good bridal salon will do dress searches for you and offer options for quality alterations. (some even reasonably) They can order good grade material by the yard and local, established shops will even have recommendations for fellow wedding vendors. (Thus helping you through the daunting task of planning your own wedding.

P.S. Beware the Bridal Department Stores!

Which color white is most flattering to my skin tone? Asian-American.? Ivory, Diamond white, Champagne,orStark?

wedding dress color quiz
on Melissa Sweet Wedding Dress Style Aida | OneWed
wedding dress color quiz image

Kris

I don't/at least didn't like the idea of wearing white at my wedding.
'Cause I used to always imagine me/that I'm wearing a cream.
But now, after taking a What's You Wedding Dress IQ quiz, I realize that it might not be the most flattering on me.
U-/Argh!
The question i-/was Which color white is most flattering to a majority of skin tones?
Ivory
Diamond white
Champagne
Stark white
And the correct answer is: diamond white.
Diamond White: "Eighty percent of the population looks best in a soft, diamond-white dress, which isn't as chalky as a white-white," explains gown designer Melissa Sweet.
"When in doubt, buy diamond white."
A shade off true white, it's also known as silk or natural white and it usually shows up very white in photos.
Ivory: Also referred to as eggshell or candlelight, this shade has gentle yellow undertones (think creamy not buttery) and works well with fair skin tones or on gals with medium skin tones with pink undertones.
Champagne: Also called "rum," champagne has subtle pink undertones and works well with medium skin tones and yellow undertones.
Stark white: The brightest bridal gown white, this shade can wash out fair complexions, but it looks great on dark skin -- or those with a tan!
I can't tell if I have a fair skin tone or am a gal with medium skin tone with pink undertone! or medium skin tone and yellow undertone! or (even?) a tan!
Please help!...

Answer
Well, I can't say for sure without knowing what you look like, but you did mention being asian american in the question and asians tend to have more yellow or olive skin tones (that's not all-inclusive, but a generalization.) So the champagne would probably suit you. That being said... keep your options open and trust your own sense of style. You'll know when you've found the right dress for you, be it champagne or ivory or diamond white or anything in between. And most bridal shops have dozens of colors for everything in between and will be able to help you find your perfect dress. Best of luck and congratulations! :)

When should I start looking for a wedding dress?

Danielle

My fiance and I decided that we would like to get married April 12th, 2014. Which is about 7 months from now. I've obviously have never planned a wedding before and I feel like I'm behind on the check list. I'm not sure what I should have out of the way or when I should be "window shopping" for my dress or when I should go out and start dress fitting and whatnot. Please help, I'm really not trying to stress myself out too much.

Answer
Have you booked a ceremony and reception location yet? What about an officiant and caterer? Book those things BEFORE you worry about a dress, because your date is not set until those things are booked.

If they ARE booked, then I would start looking around for a dress pretty soon. Some salons take 6-8 months to order a dress, so depending on what you want, you may not have a lot of time.

That being said, there are plenty of stores where you can get a bridal gown quicker than that. David's Bridal and Group USA are examples of stores where you can walk out with a bridal gown in one day.

Some salons may have a floor sample that they'll sell you, and you'll just need to spend some extra money getting it dry cleaned and maybe have a tailor fix some little errors (if it's the store sample then it may have small rips or the beading may be loose, from so many people trying it on).

If you order a bridesmaid's dress in white, it'll probably arrive within 3-5 months of ordering it. There are plenty of elegant bridesmaids' dresses out there that could easily pass as wedding gowns.

Some department stores have wedding gowns that you can buy off-the-rack, or off their websites. Check out Macy's, Nordstrom, and Dillard's, for example.

Look in a store like Windsor that sells prom gowns, or look in a department store. Or look in a regular clothing store like BCBG or White House Black Market.

Jcrew.com and AnnTaylor.com have wedding gowns on their websites.

You can look around in consignment stores, thrift shops, eBay, and Craigslist for a gown. Or visit a good local seamstress and see if she can custom-make a gown for you by April.

Ultimately, you can wear anything you want ... so if you're in a department store and you see a knockout red evening gown that looks fantastic on you, get it for your wedding! You aren't limited to a white "bridal gown," you know ... wear anything that you love.

Which bridesmaid dresses would look good with this wedding dress?

Neila

http://www.pronovias.us/wedding-dresses-2014/collection-costura-odette please help.. pictures would be the best

Answer
Off the bat ... this looks like this is a formal wedding gown, so I assume that your whole wedding is formal? If so, it'd probably be best to put the bridesmaids in long gowns, or at least very well-cut and well-made cocktail dresses in a quality fabric.

It's hard to give you exact suggestions because you didn't mention what price range you have in mind for the bridesmaids' dresses. Have you contacted each girl in private to ask what she would like to spend? If not, do that BEFORE you even start to think about what you'll ask them to wear. You can't just pick a dress and expect them to pay for it ... you need to get every girl's budget, and then look for a designer that every single one of them can afford (or you need to be willing to pay the difference yourself).

As a VERY general rule, I'll tell you that people in my (high cost-of-living) circle generally shoot for $200 or less - anything more than that is really ridiculous. But, again, DO NOT set a price without talking to the girls first. And remember that they'll need to pay for alterations. And DO NOT make them get matching shoes, or get pro hair/makeup/nails done - if you mandate anything outside the dress and alterations then you need to pay for it yourself. Otherwise you can pick a neutral shoe color (silver, black, gold) and allow them to get their hair/makeup done anywhere or do it themselves.

You need to let them try on some dresses, rather than just arbitrarily picking something for them. If you more than 2 or 3 total bridesmaids, I suggest going to a salon or a department store (whichever you prefer) with your Maid of Honor and narrowing it down to a few dresses within everyone's budget - maybe 5-8 max - and then you can invite the other girls to pick a winner from that selection.

Also, remember that most designers will offer different styles (different necklines, sleeve options, form-fitting vs. a looser cut) within the same color/fabric/skirt length. So you can always give each girl an option to pick her own style ... that way, they'll look very similar, but they all get to pick an individually flattering style. Many bridal parties nowadays go this route, and sometimes it's easier than trying to find one magic dress that'll flatter different women (which is almost always impossible).

That being said, here are some basic styles that I would personally try out if I were you:

How do you feel about color on a wedding dress?

Q. What do you think of dresses with color in them. Like wedding dresses with a colored sash, dresses with colored borders, colored trim, etc?

Or do you think wedding dresses should always be completely white?

Answer
I want to get married in red, so I am all for color on a wedding dress.

The bride wearing white is a fashion choice. It has nothing to do with her purity or lack of it. If that was the case the market for white dresses would be much smaller.

The bride's attire is her choice. As long as it makes you look and feel amazing, it is up to you what you wear. The only exception would be if you were getting married in a house of worship. There you would have to get a dress that is respectful of their rules.

Where can I find a nice short wedding dress about cocktail length?

I looked a davids bridal and alfred angelo and all their knee length dresses just look cheap. We're having a casual wedding but that doesn't mean I want it to look cheap...

Check out the Kleinfeld's Bridal Site. I did a search for just the cocktail length wedding dresses: http://www.kleinfeldbridal.com/index.cfm?pid=51&changed=1&title=weddinggown

Even if you can't get to Kleinfeld's in New York, you can see which designers make that style of gown and find them in your area. Melissa Sweet and Vineyard seem to have amazing cocktail length wedding dresses too, if you want to go directly to a designers site:

Stephanie James Coutoure has an awesome collection of tea-length wedding gowns too: http://www.stephaniejamescouture.com/

Q. im looking for an online wedding gown store that sells ivory/light gold or ivory and champagne colored wedding dresses and wedding dress colors similar to those. also i was wondering about help with bridesmaid/floral and jewelery help. pretty much everything down to the flower girl and hairstyles...thanks.

Answer
You should look at eBay. Many gowns are made overseas, in China and cane be made in any color your heart desires! I got mine off eBay, and it cost me $190 with shipping. The quality is great, the fabric is the softest satin, and it looked exactly like the picture! It's a Moda Sposa knockoff, and the original gown would've cost me over $10,000! Also, The Knot has some great ideas for your bridal party. I am pretty much buying everything off eBay! My flower girl dresses only cost me $30! I don't know what your budget is, but look into it. It might just free up some moolah for your honeymoon! :)

We'd like a traditional Chinese wedding and I've been asked to scour the internets for information on said wedding style. I'd really appreciate it if anyone with experience in this area could share some of the things that commonly happen or things you've done in your own traditional Chinese wedding.

Please try to list as much detail about a Chinese wedding (traditional) from start to finish as possible.

Thanks!

Answer
Chinese traditional weddings use red color to be the main color of weddings which is different from western countries use white.

before the feast, i think the wedding agency will tell you the details. maybe you'll kowtow to your parents in law. better be prepared , don't be shocked when it comes. 'cause in chinese culture, from that moment , you should consider them as your own parents.

and you would wear certain traditional red chinese clothes. there're many kinds of traditional clothes, hanfu, changshan, magua mandarin jacket.... don't worry. some shops have a lot of those clothes just like wedding dresses. you will find your favorite. but i think if she really wants a very traditional wedding then you have to wear hanfu. It has big sleeves.

during the wedding feast, maybe you guys need to bow to every guest, and propose a toast to every single table. if there gonna be lots of tables of guests or VIP( mostly important people from bride's side), then....i guess....better say you can't drink before everything get started if you can't. late announce = bad impression.

I only knew these since i don't have that experience. just attended as guest once. you can check this video maybe you'll have general idea about how it looks like. this is in the most traditional style.

Who has been to Asian weddings?

The New Mr

I am getting married to a Vietnamese guy, and I hear that usually the guests arrive anywhere from an hour to 2 hours late for the reception. I want to print to invitations- 5:00 for the Vietnamese side, and 6:00 for the American side in hopes that we start everything around 6:30. Do you think that will work?

Also, should we order some or' dourvs (like eggrolls) for guests that actually show up on time? I don't want them waiting around starving.

Typically in a Vietnamese wedding, they don't do the bouquet toss or garter. But we want to do that at our wedding. A lot of the older guests leave RIGHT after the cake, so should we do the toss before or after we cut the cake?

Any other suggestions/things I should know about a Vietnamese/Asian wedding? My family is part Japanese, but the culture and traditions for weddings is way different than Vietnamese and Chinese culture and traditions.

Answer
I am Viet and have been to numerous Viet weddings and it is true that Viet time is an hour or two later that regular time. For instance if your supposed to be at a Viet person's house to dinner at the exact time that they say, then chances are the food is not ready and you will be left waiting for some time.

All of the weddings I have gone to have had bouquet and garter tosses in addition to some weddings games. Its really your choice as to whether you want to do it before or after the cake though I think that it is usually reserved for after the cake when everyone is ready to let loose and dance. The older people will probably leave after the cake cutting but usually don't eat the cake and also only after their table is greeted by the bride/groom. At all the weddings I have gone to the bride and groom have to go to each table to personally thank their guests for attending. Also in Vietnamese tradition it is the groom's side that is responsible for wedding expenses. It is also customary for the bride to change dresses 2+ times throughout the reception( one being the traditional Vietnamese dress called an Ao Dai[red], the american white wedding dress, and possibly another wedding dress-like gown but of a different color). And there is almost always a Vietnamese band and karaoke. Also Vietnamese weddings most of the Vietnamese guests will almost always give money instead of gifts which usually helps the couple pay for the reception venue, etc.

Food is a MAJOR thing too in our culture. My cousin is currently planning his wedding and he just wants a small intimate affair but his traditional parents refuse to because they believe that if they have it any other place than a restaurant or banquet hall then guests will think the family is cheap. Also it is also customary to have about a 10 course meal at least(1st course: cold meat plate, 2nd course: sharkfin soup. 3rd: pekking duck, 4th: walnut shrimp...and so on the last being dessert. Not each person has a plate of these foods, each table gets a plate or two and each person eats what they want) Anything less is usually considered cheap though I don't know why.

Also if you are planning on doing the traditional "wedding", where the grooms family has to bring "gifts" to the brides family and then "sweep" the bride back to the grooms house for the ceremony then well thats alot more work. What I personally suggest is to blend your cultures. My fiance is caucasian and so the wedding will be a traditional american wedding and then our reception will be more Asian. Goodluck let me know if you need any more info!

what to wear to a Vietnamese wedding?

Lady Dee

It's my brother's wedding this weekend. When the groom is going to the bride to drink tea, ask permission, and etc I don't know what to wear. I have this dress that is a cream color on the top area. The top area have ruffle and the rest of the dress if black. My second option is a gradient dress. It starts off white then fades to grey and goes to black. It's a floral print dress. My last option is a navy blue dress with small flowers that are a bit white and the leaves is a green. I don't want to get looks for wearing black, but my mom said it's fine since I'm a younger sibling.

Answer
I think whichever dress you pick will be fine, since they're not all-black.
The Vietnamese are strict about modesty (not showing too much cleavage or skin), but they're not strict about colors.

What dress colour is good for pale skin?

I'm buying a prom dress, but I've got not idea which colour dress to buy. I've found the dress I want, now I have to choose the colour.
My skin is the white pale colour that I can't tan, I just burn and go red.
I may get a spray tan closer to the time (haven't made my mind up yet) so it'd be good if you could suggest a coloured dress that will match pale or tan skin.
Thank you!

Answer
tan you can do anything, except for maybe a pale brownish color, cuz it would wash away your skin, as for pale options are endless too, you can do a yellow, turquoise, red, blue, black,( for both) i guess it would be also to determine what colors you would feel comfortable in, if your not used to wearing bright i would stick to basics, like a navy, teal, or mustard

What kind of theme should my wedding be?

I'm not sure what my theme should be for my wedding. I have my gown purchased already. I really like a rustic wedding, but I'm not sure if my dress is rustic. I also don't have my bridesmaids dresses and flowers picked out either. My wedding is next August, and I need help!!

Answer
1. Rustic
If you wanted a rustic wedding, the bridesmaids could wear some nice fancy cowgirl boots, and if you wanted underneath your dress you could wear cowgirl boots too. It would be so cute! Your reception could be inside one of those nice barns, or if you don't want to get too rustic you could have it in a reception hall and have light brown tablecloths. Your wedding favours could be seeds put into a cute little baggy or jar with a tag that says "Let the Love Grow! (Your name) and (Your Fiances name) (date)". If you wanted to be really rustic, the groomsmen (and maybe even groom) could wear cowboy hats. Your bridesmaids dresses would be something a-line and simple (as a-line is very popular in rustic features). Your flowers should be mainly white, since that is rustic themed. something like this:

2. Super hero
I have seen some really cute pictures of super hero weddings. Everything seems normal, but underneath all the groomsmens shirts they are wearing superhero shirts. The bridesmaids stand behind the men and open their shirts to reveal the suphero shirts (in the pictures). Here is a picture:

3. Beauty and the beast
I would LOVE for my wedding to be beauty and the beast themed. Your plates would look like this

Your centerpieces for the reception would look like this (adorable)

And I know you already have your dress picked out, but if it were me I would go with this gown for this theme

The bridesmaids dresses like this

And of course, your flowers would be roses.

Where to find gowns for White Tie Weddings?

Kallie B

I am started to do my searching for a gown for a black tie wedding. It is my boyfriend's sisters wedding so it is a huge deal. I want something that is going to be classy but fashion forward. I want something that will show off my curves, not a loose flowy gown.
I want something kinda like this:

or maybe even
http://www.fashiondivadesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Evening-dresses-8.jpg

I obviously don't want to spend $1000 on a dress but I want something amazing. Anyone got any good suggestions?

Answer
Is it a black tie or white tie wedding? That will make a huge difference as to what you should wear.

Both of those dresses are perfect for a black tie event, but you will need something slightly more formal for a white tie wedding, although you could still get away with those dresses.

What color dress should mother of bride wear?

Olympe Har

this is a formal wedding. brides mom is having trouble figuring out what color to wear. the 2 brides maids are wearing wine and the other 2 wearing champagne. bride's dress is ivory and champagne. the mother of groom is wearing a navy dress. what would be a good color choice for brides mom? thanks for all input.

Answer
traditionally for etiquette purposes, the mother of the groom should not have chosen her dress before your mother choose hers.
Mother of bride can wear whatever color she wants. If you are looking for some continuity, colors that come to my mind would be an antique gold or eggplant. Also brown or sage would be lovely

Where should you look for mother of the bride and groom dresses?

Whitney

My mom is having trouble finding a mother of the groom dress for my brothers wedding in September. We are looking for a long dress in almost any color, but she is geared towards champagne. Does anyone know of any department stores, online sites, or anywhere that carries dresses? We have been looking for awhile and haven't found much. Thanks! and help!

What color stockings should my braidsmaids wear with black satin dresses?

wedding dress color black
on Colored Wedding Gowns: What Do They Mean?

ladyraven

My colors are black white and silver. Formal wedding. Dresses are different styles. Some long and some tea length. Wedding in July.

Answer
Formal wedding: I would have them wear stockings.

Black satin dress: I would say either skin tone or sheer black stockings, preferably black.

What colour are their shoes?
This may help decide the colour of stockings... if shoes are in white or silver, then sheer skin tone. If black, then sheer black.

Stockings are not hot to wear in summer. I wore stockings and a long dress to my sister's wedding in Feburary in Perth Western Australia.
The temperature reached 40 degrees C that day! (104 F). My sister was expecting 45C (113 F).
My sister also wore stockings under her heavy satin gown. She told me a slight swaying of the skirt was enough to keep cool until the cooling "Freemantle Doctor" sea breeze came in as we left the church for the reception.

What to do for bridesmaids shoes and dress?

Rachael

My wedding colors are black white orange and silver. My bridesmaids are going to wear orange dresses and cowboy boots and I'm going to wear cowboy boots under my wedding dress. I just recently realized that the cowboy boots will be brown and there is a brown belt on the dress. Will the completely throw of my color scheme? What should I do? I thought of black boots but that may be too halloweenish? Ahhh help me!

Answer
White cowboy boots maybe? Idk the brown boots sound nice too me it all depends on the color of orange the color orange can be very tricky. If it like an autumn type orange i think it will look nice but if it bright you should go with white boots.

How can I incorporate this flower into my wedding attire?

Q. I have a small white fabric rose (about the size of the tip of my finger) that is from my aunts wedding when I was small. I want to use it as my something old, but I am not sure how to add it. My flowers are Gerber daisies, so it can't go with those. My hair will be down and curly but I will be wearing a veil. Should I just glue it to the top of my veil? I don't want to just sew it into the inside of my dress... Any ideas?
I want it to be seen so I really don't want to hide it... and I only have the 1 flower
This is my dress

I have a red apple beaded sash.

Answer
If it's only the size of the tip of your finger, put it in your bouquet. Maybe underneath the other flowers or in the back of your bouquet.

Edit: Seeing your gown helps. Why not pin it on your sash where it ties in the pack. Like a little adornment on your sash!

Is it appropriate to wear a white dress with patterns to an afternoon wedding in September?

Corao

It will be in Holland.

I have a white dress with a black sash around the waist and the dress is patterned.

Is this ok?

Fashion etiquette advice needed, especially European.
haha. It's one thing to have poor taste (like, wearing an inappropriate dress) but it's entirely another to have nothing better to do than to gossip about it and shun the person instead of shining attention on the bride & groom. In whatever country people do that disgusts me.

Answer
I'd have to see a photo, but most likely it is fine since I am sure you know the difference between a wedding gown and a dress with a white background.

P.S. Don't bother asking the bride. She won't care, nor notice what YOU'VE got on HER wedding day.
