dying a multi coloured dress? please help!?

daisy-lola

right, I have a multi coloured dress, its floor length and chiffon with bright patterns in dark purples, reds, yellows, greens etc I love it and wore it to a wedding in the summer, i have a xmas ball coming up and want to wear it but the colours are too summery and I want to dye it either a deep red or emerald green, so I was just wondering:
A) if this would be possible with all the different colours
B) if it is, would I need to strip the colour first, how would I do this?

Thanks in advance! :)

Answer
Take the dress to a tailor. Different materials dye differently, some won't even accept dye.
Overall, with your color choices, and there being yellow in the dress, I'm thinking you are going to end up with one mess of a dress. Either try to dye it black or go to an expert.

Can I dye my dress a different color and get rid of the stain?

I have this dress, its just a casual dress, one color. I love this dress and last year after I had my son I had to wear dresses for a while cause I had a C-section. Anyways like a week or so after he was born I was holding him and he pooped and it leaked out his diaper and onto my dress! Ever since then there has been a stain there and I have tried everything and there mother trying to remove it. Well I've been kinda wanting to dye the dress a different color and I was going to use the Rit fabric dye. So my question is and this is a last resort for the stain, if I dye it a different color will it dye the stain too or is the stain just there forever now....OR if anyone has any other stain removing options i'd love to hear them. THANKS

Answer
Have you tried scrubbing the stain with baking soda? I know, I have a few favorites in my closet and get upset when something happens to them. Right now I gained weight and they don't fit. I miss those clothes! If the baking soda does not work...dye the dress a darker color or see if there is some way to hide the stain... depending on the size of it.
