Meanings of wedding color dress?

Jasmin

Why do most woman decide to wear white as a wedding dress color? Why can't the dress color be pink black orange blue et.?

Answer
Everyone who says the dress had anything to do with purity is wrong and REALLY needs to spend ten seconds on Google looking up where it actually started.

Queen Victoria wanted to source all parts of her dress from within Britain. She picked a bit of lace from a particular company and her dress designers decided the best way to showcase that bit of lace was against a white dress. In those days it was difficult for anyone to afford a dress they could only wear once but then Queen Victoria wore hers and then anyone who could afford to wear a dress just once said "oh white is pretty" and started buying white wedding dresses. Before then, women just wore their best dress, whatever color it was. It has NOTHING. AT. ALL. to do with purity.

And these days a bride can wear whatever color she wants. White has just been so popular for so long that it's what most brides pick even if they secretly want to wear another color. I wore red. I have a cousin who wore purple. Vera Wang has been designing dresses in all colors lately. Wear what you want.

So I know white is virginal and pure but what about all the others?
But in Asian countries white is their mourning colors.

So I want to know the colors meanings if anyone knows them.
thanks!

Answer
White did not originally mean "virginal and pure." Check out this one that I answered a while ago, the Best Answer is really useful: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am1XlTKHkSchplWrvKEZt4rty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090814094829AAXEwxX&show=7#profile-info-RRs744rnaa

Check out this good Snopes article also for a very thorough explanation:
