what to wear to a wedding as a guest and as a performer?

one of my best friends is getting married and the groom's my good friend too. im invited to their morning wedding in a church, followed by an afternoon reception, next month (summer).
im requested to play the piano for them accompanied by two guys on guitar. the guys are wearing black suits + white shirts. do i have to match them? what colour should i wear? the bride is in white, so i cant wear white.
im not slim, yet not plus size, but there's obvious fat in my arms and thighs and calves. what type of dress should i wear? ive been reading up articles and they say A-lines would be good.
also, what type of shoes should i wear? im quite tall so wearing high heels is very awkward for me.
i have long hair down to the middle of my back. what hairstyle would be good for a hot summer wedding?
and last question:i live in sydney. any nice and inexpensive shops to go to that wont make a uni student suffer?

I would wear a black dress or a black dress with some sort of white pattern in it (maybe flowers?). I would make the dress be about knee length. Also I would wear a sandal type dress shoe with little or no heel (if that's what you are comfortable in). This should look good with what the guys are wearing.

As for hair I would go with an updo or partial updo with some hair still going down your back (if it's not too hot).

As for where to shop I can't help you as I don't live in Sydney and have never been.
