I am wearing a gold sparkle top with ivory slacks to a wedding in Vegas next month. OK for my Husband to wear a gold dress shirt with golds, whites and browns in the tie (black suit)to match my outfit? We are the Bride's Mother amd Step Father. Bridesmaid dresses are turqoise, brides dress is white with champagne overlay and sash. Will we clash in pictures? Please help1
Answer
It's okay as long as you are not matching too much! And I hope its a soft gold. Not a shiny stand out gold. Mix the colors up! Do not have the top and bottoms the same. EXAMPLE: He's wearing a black suit and a tie with gold and white in it then, Your top half should not be the same. No black top with gold. That's tacky! try wearing those colors but not to an exact match. I hope I helped. And ask your daughter how she feels about that. She may not like it.

Should the man's tie match the woman's dress color?

If you're dressing for an event such as a marriage or a less formal party, should the tie match the woman's dress color?
Is it old-fashioned or is it up to you?
If you're not wearing a tie should the pocket square match the dress instead?
Answer
Nooooooooo. It shouldn't clash but please don't go matchy matchy. SO tacky. The only situation where this is acceptable is where the colours in question are black and white.
