I am getting married (yippee) and am looking for a wedding gown designer in the bay area (SF, oakland, San Jose, Hayward, etc). I have pictures of my dream dress and MUST wear this on my big day. However, I am having a hard time trying to locate someone reputable who does really good work. I don't have a lot of time left as my wedding date is in July, so any references or help are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks In Advance

I found this website that lists a lot of different designers and seamstresses in san francisco, I think this will help you out a lot. My mom has hand made some of the most beautiful wedding dresses I have seen but we live in the bakersfield area and that may be too far for you. We hand sew all the beads and everything. They are beautiful dresses.

Renting your wedding gown....?

I just heard about this, I may consider this since our wedding budget isnt much {only $5000}; I have already been to Davids Bridal and fell in love with a dress there, its on sale until Tuesday of the coming week for $574.00 down $75.00 {I guess that's a good sale, I dont know}; but anyway I heard about the option of renting a wedding gown, I think that's fantastic, providing I can find a shop locally {San Francisco Bayarea}; and hopefully they have a gown equal to the beauty of the one I found at DB, I dont mind spending the $$ at DB, but what am I going to do with the dress after the ceremony, I do have two daughters that I could pass it down too, but theirs and my style are totally different. Any suggestions and comments welcome.
Thank you

wow, all your answers are great thanks for the help, just and FYI, I'm a street size 18 {just lost a whopping 170 lbs. whew!}; at DB I can fit comfortably with a very lil alterations a size 16 {a 14 fits too but a lil too tight on my back, all that back fat aint cute yuck!}; anyway does anyone have any info on buying a dress via ebay, I see some lovely ones even the one I tried on at DB, the seller is in China {isnt everything???}; I'm kinda afraid but the price is awesome, although I dont know the s&h, I'm waiting for that info from the seller, I dont want to waste my $$$, any feedback yahoo answeres {is that a word...?}: can give would prove invaluable.
Thanking you in advance....

I was considering renting a dress and then I watched videos of other brides at the chapel site where we married, and you could tell some of the brides who rented theirs-they practically tripped over the skirt part.
If you of average height I would think you would be OK, but I´m 5´2", and wouldn´t like tripping.
