My friends brother is getting married today and he said that she could bring a friend to the party afterwards so i'm going, i've got a dress, it goes to about the knee, silk-ish look, and sliver shoes, i'm worried that i'll look like i'm going to a funeral or clubbing instead of a wedding party.
Any idea's if it'll be okay?
I wore the dress, it was in the afternoon and the bride loved it, i added a white cardigan so it looked fine :) thanks for all the answers anyway :)

It's best to call the bride FIRST, people do it all the time - like suddenly it became trendy, but they are being disrespectful to the people who are being honored there. In SOME countries, wearing black is worn for funerals, and the bride may be uncomfortable bringing 'bad luck' to her special event.
Just show respect, to the bride, by calling her if it's OK.
In the 80's all the bridesmaids wore black for Paul's & Cricket's Wedding on the Young & the Restless, and before the wedding, someone got in a wreck! Of course the wedding was postponed. That's one example the soap opera TV series were trying to show what would happened if someone wore black to the wedding. . . .Even on soap, SOMETHING could happened to jinx a wedding . . .
If that was me getting married, I would prefer someone asked me!

Answer
When is your wedding, i.e., which month?
My brother's fiance is using chocolate brown (that beautiful, really warm brown) for bridesmaids and ivory for her wedding dress. It's an October wedding. I think you should consider how the colors will look on all the peeps in the wedding party--does it enhance everyone, for the most part, like that......you may also try to find something that'll be "timeless", not too trendy or (trust me, I've been married 14 yrs.) the wedding photos will SCREAM the year they were taken. Look at wedding photos (vintage) for inspiration, e.g. Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly.
Just my thoughts, Good luck and blessing for a wonderful, lifelong marriage!
