What type of pant matches with a nice light brown or dark brown dress shoe?

I have a a nice pair of Stacy Addams light brown dress shoe and I was wondering what type pf pant would go with it? Also, a dark brown shoe from Bass.

Khakis are a safe bet. Although they're not too dressy.

I've always heard as a rule of thumb that you're NEVER supposed to wear shoes that are a lighter color than your pants.

Is there a certain rule for colors of dresses/shoes that my date is wearing- and the color that the corsage needs to be? (at HOMECOMING) Like for a black dress, blue dress, etc... I think my date has a black dress but hasnt gotten her shoes yet.

You match it with her dress, why would you match it with yours? you won't be wearing it. lol. And you dont' want to match it with her shoes. Althought if her shoes are a different color that stands out (for example, black dress, RED shoes.) then you might want to match the corsage with that.
