And a trick I use to always get compliments at formal events? I get my hair done professionally and find a way to have my stylist add a live flower in my hair (you'll have to bring your own flower, of course!) I had a chignon with a white and pink-tinged moon orchid for a prom; for another formal event, I had loose curls gathered into a low side-ponytail and had a red rose tucked to conceal the hair tie; I once had the hair at my temples twisted back, tied like a half-ponytail with a white daisy for a wedding.
