Do I dare wear white?

perfect_bl

I am looking at champagne or ivory, pink and either light green or saphire blue for my summer wedding next year. Do I dare wear a white dress with these colors? I don't mind standing out a bit, but don't want it to look odd.

Also, opinions on a pale green vs. saphire blue?

It is an outdoor wedding, not too formal, but my dress is going to be a strapless ball gown type.

Thanks!!!
I meant I'm debating if my white dress will look odd next to the off white color.

Answer
It's all about shading.

Shades of white can be really gorgeous together, so long as you make sure the shades are different enough that it's clear you were trying for different shades and didn't just make a mistake in picking them. Make sure there's contrast. If the contrast isn't strong enough, you can also have everyone in the same shade of white and use touches of another color to brighten the whole scheme and add visual interest. That's what I did, and it looked great.

White is going to look perfectly fine next to pale green, pink, or sapphire blue. No caveats. It's just going to look nice.

My personal preference between light green and sapphire blue is sapphire blue...but that's me. I happen to prefer darker shades and adore blue. In your case, you should consider what color makes you happier, and also what color is likely to be more flattering to your bridesmaids.

It's also perfectly possible to combine a deep blue and a light green to make a pretty wedding color palette.

Color is one of the most enjoyable aspects of planning a wedding. Have fun with it!

Ivory vs. white question?

Mel

My wedding color is ivory. I will have an ivory dress and the flower girl will be in ivory as well. However, the ring bearer will have a white dress shirt (not ivory). Is it ok for him to carry a white ring bearer pillow instead of an ivory one?

Answer
My dress is off-white too (diamond white) because it goes better with my complexion. I had the same question about the tuxedo shirts. Someone here made a really good point that for the shirts - and for the ring pillow too - you really want it to be bright white so it doesn't look dirty. So go with the white pillow and don't worry about having everything match your ivory dress.
