Who else wore a dark colored wedding dress for their FIRST wedding?

so80s

What color did you wear?
I look best in dark colors. Why would I want to look less than my best on such an important day?
I think traditions should be challenged. It's okay to be different. I don't think traditions are bad, but I don't think people should feel that they have to do something just because everyone else does it. After all, it is their wedding.

Answer
Most likely something deep red. I don't own anything white, ivory or light colored since they make me look like death warmed over. So it doesn't make sense to wear something like that for my wedding day when I know they look terrible on me.

White wedding dresses are actually a fairly new thing since the mid 1800s and symbolized wealth when Queen Victoria introduced them because no one other than royalty could afford such a frivolity. Prior to that, most brides wore a dress they already owned in a jewel tone. In Asian cultures, red is worn by brides all the time as a symbol of passion, while white is never worn because it symbolizes death. It didn't used to mean virginity until the prudish folks of the Victorian era twisted it to mean something else entirely (since blue has been the symbol of purity and virginity throughout history) and no one has bothered to question it since then. Do whatever you want and don't pay attention to anyone else.

Don't overdo the colors though.
