Why are most wedding dresses strapless and sleeveless?

I like the show Say Yes To The Dress and I've noticed most of the dresses are strapless and sleeveless, even in the plus sized edition. Honestly, I don't think strapless or sleeveless dresses look good on women with big arms. Why aren't their more options for dresses with sleeves, for both sizes of women?
I thought Kate Middleton's wedding dress was great and it had sleeves.

Answer
Strapless is the current fashion trend. Its harder right now because of that to find dresses that are not strapless or sleeveless.

Really only about 10% of brides (if that many) can pull off a strapless gown and have it look good.

Any dress though can have sleeves added to it. My dress was originally strapless but I had sleeves added to it. My husband is Muslim and the wedding was in a Mosque where sleeveless/strapless is frowned upon and in many cases not allowed.

Even without that I had planned to add sleeves or look for a gown that had them. I know what doesn't look good on me. I lost 100lbs but I still couldn't pull that off.

There are dresses out there with sleeves the style you need to look for is a "modest" gown.

What type of wedding dress would compliment a plus size figure?

If the bride is a bigger woman, are there wedding dresses that will look better on her? Can you give me a few examples?

Thank you.

I looked at the sites one of the posters suggested. Here's my advice:

â Don't choose a strapless gown, or even one with thin straps. Choose one with a halter top or a built-up neckline, perhaps with sleeves.

â The fuller skirts look prettier than the more closely-cut ones.

â All the dresses look great on the models standing still, with ideal lighting. But as you move, bend, dance, etc. a covered-up style will look beautiful on you at all times. Personally I like the "Return to tradition" concept very much.
