What color works like black for dark skinned black women?
If black is the 'sexy' color for white and light brown skin, what color gives that same effect for black women who are dark chocolate and coffee bean complected? And the same for nail polish: if black is the 'rocker' color for white and light brown skin, what is the 'rocker' color for dark skinned black women?

Answer
I don't see why you can't wear black as well.

Black dresses on white women is the complete opposite, so a white dress will pop on you. I however think that a red or fuchsia (maybe a coral, too) will pop on you.

What kind of dress and make up do you think I should wear to prom based on what I look like?

Like what colors, styes and etc. I think almost everyone wears cocktail dresses to the prom in my school. I'm planning on curling my hair and leaving it down. Here is my description:

Age: 17
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye color: Very dark brown
Skin color: Light
Height: 5''5
Weight: 95 Lbs.

Answer
Well it sounds like you don't want to stand out by not wearing a cocktail dress, otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned that everyone at your school wears them. However you're not very tall so a cocktail dress that goes down to your knees then it could make you look short and fat, despite how skinny you probably are, unless you got a cocktail dress that was the length of a mini, but again you're only 5'5" so it might still seem long on you. You should go for a bodice top dress, perhaps one that goes down to your calves, or full length if you want but I won't suggest it. I'm 5'2" and 93 lbs so I figure we have similar body types.

As far as color goes dark colors would be lovely on you. Emerald green, blood red, dark blue. They will make you're skin seem like porcelain because of you dark hair and eye color. If you go for a lighter color they could possibly make you appear washed out. Medium tones would just be ok. Nothing special there. You'll blend in.

Take into account your favorite colors and personality. You may also get to the store and have a color and style all picked out but find that none of the dresses in that color or style are something you like. It;s good to have an idea but dont limit yourself to just dresses in the color you choose. hope your dress shopping goes well =)
