Hi, I am a XL but because I have a broad back I need to go up a size
and talior the rest of the garment. I am looking for a young/hip mother of the bride dress ( age appropratie 48 ). This will be a beach wedding but the reception will be at a country club. It will be a long day so I really need to be comfortable

Answer
Being an XL lady myself, I would suggest a two piece something. Usually far more comfortable than a full dress and gives you more movement in the body too.

Perhaps a three quarter length skirt (to avoid sand and water marks) and a nice top, not too low cut.
Blues, Greens or Silver/Grey are usually good colours for mothers/ step mothers of the bride, with pewter or silver sandals.

what would my wedding dress size be?

im 5'2 170 lbs I have no idea what my actual measurment are and I live in a small town in alaska so there is no wedding dress stores here or professionals who can measure me. I have never tried on a wedding dress before I know nothing about dress sizes either. So im going on my weight and height and im wondering if anyone could give me and rough idea of what wedding dress size I would be at this weight with a height of 5'2? If anyone could help it would be great thanks!

Answer
HI I'm 5'10" and have been every size under the sun. My BMI has ranged as an adult from 20-45 from ages 25-35. Currently I'm at 32.5. Based upon your height and weight, this puts you with a BMI of 31. Based upon what size clothes I wear with a BMI of 31 which is a 14 fitting into them easy, I would expect that you would wear the same in regular jeans, a 14. AA (Alfred Angelo) caters to fuller sized real women, and should you go with him I would expect you to wear a size 14, however agree with others that it depends on the fit, your figure, and generally you go up 1-2 sizes.

I have known a lot of people in life that have shared weight concerns and have been every size at every height, generally the BMI is the best equivalent and rings true more than most. One of my best friends is 5'0", she is wearing 12 (tightly) but really 14's and she weighs 173 with a BMI of 33, she is a 36C and generally buys tops that say size large in misses and does not buy juniors, sometimes she gets an XL if the top is cut small.
