Prom dress color dilemma?! (pictures)?

I haven't gotten my prom dress made yet but have decided on the design just got to get the color right.

I really want a champagne / light gold-ish color. (the gold dress...in these pictures - http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD584775)
But with THIS DESIGN: http://www.promgirl.net/2011-prom-dress-tony-bowls-11130.html

I'm dark skinned and have been told the color would suit me, my problem is ... will the color I want make the dress look like a wedding dress?

And do you guys have any suggestions of what other colors would suit my dark skin (dark as in Jennifer Hudson dark)?

I love the grey dress but the purple one was cute to and then the light blue or pink I would go with your favorite color.

For my college's winter semi. Never been to school dance before, so I'm not entirely sure how I should dress. I am seriously clueless about... these types of things (can't you tell... was a tomboy? lol)

A formal dress is straight to the point,
-not to much cleavage
-white, black, silver are classic colors if you want to play it safe, you dress may be decorated with ribbon and fabric roses.
-Goes past knees or longer

-cleavage is a option
-A wide variety of colors, sparkles and glitter and animal prints.
-can be low as a mini dress and usually up to your knees
