they are always trying to get attention by the way they talk by screaming obscenities, and using phrases like 'the sex' and 'kthxbai' as well as by the way they dress with their layered poofy hair with coontails down to their obnoxiously colored skinny jeans.

they usually wear a lot of make up to cover up their nasty faces and fill their ipods with horrible screamo music just because it's popular among the scenesters.

they can be found in hottopic stores around the world as well as concerts that are 'hard core'.

Scene kids usually have huge hair, wear alot of black, have over the top makeup and are often called 'emo'. Emo kids & Scene kids are very similar though. Mixing the two styles together is an option.Things Youâll Need:

Step1Being a scene kid can become pretty costly. So save up! I suggest not to walk out of your house fully dressed as a scene kid in one day. Become one gradually.
I'll take you through being a more 'grundge' scene kid, and a more 'glamorous' scene kid.
Step2 The first thing you will need to do, is slip on your black skinny jeans! Next, put on a band tshirt, make sure it is not too baggy, if it is, tuck it into the side of your jeans. Black band t's are best.
Step3 Do your makeup a bit thicker then normal. No, a little more thicker then that, but please, do not make your self look like a racoon. Some scene kids do that, it just dosnt look that great.
Step4Now, for your shoes. The classic black high tops. Make sure they are dirty. Run outside and jump up and down in the dirt, scrape your shoes in the ground, anything to make them look at least a year old. Now to draw/write on them. I've scrawled my name on one of my shoes. Then down the sides i have some lyrics from a few songs.
Step5 Okay, for the more glamorous scene look.
Instead of wearing band tshirts, get out your black low cut singlets/tshirts. Throw a stylish necklace in, preferably a long one.
For the shoes, wear cute flats.
Step6 If you are wearing a dress, throw fish net stockings, or regular stockings on. If they are normal ones, make a few holes in them here and there.
Step7 Now, your haaaaaaaaair. Get you're cans of hairspray ready. With a 'teasing comb' tease your hair, so it is not flat. That is really the goal here. Make it big, but not as in 'afro' big. Stylish big. Then spray it alot so it stays.
Explaining to someone how to get scene hair is hard. You really have to figure it out yourself.
Step8Music plays a big part in being a scene kid.
I strongly suggest you introduce yourself to hardcore music. Develop a favourite hardcore band. Know the lyrics, band members names etc.
There is nothing worse then telling someone who your favourite band is, and they start talking about a specific band member in that band, but you dont know their names, and therefore stand there and nod without saying anything, pretending you know what they are on about. Also, you will be branded a 'fake scene kid'. Tough, but true.

If you just cant get into hardcore music, being a scene kid is not for you. I dont want you to dramatically change who you really are inside .

'Cause I used to always imagine me/that I'm wearing a cream.

Well, I can't say for sure without knowing what you look like, but you did mention being asian american in the question and asians tend to have more yellow or olive skin tones (that's not all-inclusive, but a generalization.) So the champagne would probably suit you. That being said... keep your options open and trust your own sense of style. You'll know when you've found the right dress for you, be it champagne or ivory or diamond white or anything in between. And most bridal shops have dozens of colors for everything in between and will be able to help you find your perfect dress. Best of luck and congratulations! :)

Not necessarily. Black is a hard color to pull off and it only looks good on people with very specific coloring (olive or tan skin with brown hair). If you aren't that I wouldn't reccomend wearing black. Also, black is also a pretty bad color in general as you can't really stand out onstage and it doesn't look good under lights. losing weight before wedding?

Have you done it and been successful or not? Are you planning to do it - how's it going? Are you not going to bother?

I think I'm in the "not going to bother" category as even if I lost 40 pounds and was at my ideal weight, I'm still paying for a plus-size gown. I actually want to pay attention to toning my arms up instead so I look good no matter the sleeve (or lack of sleeve) gown I choose.

The wedding itself shouldn't be the reason for losing weight. Too many women worry too much about looking good for one day and then literally never look that good again.
Think of it this way- if you want to lose weight do it slow and smart- it will be more permanent. Then you can look back at your wedding pics years from now and go- I looked great that day but I'm SO much hotter now!

Since the dress is more modern, I suggest you wear your hair straight and down. Since the dress is plain, wear shoes that have a color that pops (red, orange, green, ect.) or with a bold print. I think anything with an open toe would look good.

they usually wear a lot of make up to cover up their nasty faces and fill their ipods with horrible screamo music just because it's popular among the scenesters.

Scene kids usually have huge hair, wear alot of black, have over the top makeup and are often called 'emo'. Emo kids & Scene kids are very similar though. Mixing the two styles together is an option.Things Youâll Need:

Step1Being a scene kid can become pretty costly. So save up! I suggest not to walk out of your house fully dressed as a scene kid in one day. Become one gradually.
I'll take you through being a more 'grundge' scene kid, and a more 'glamorous' scene kid.
Step2 The first thing you will need to do, is slip on your black skinny jeans! Next, put on a band tshirt, make sure it is not too baggy, if it is, tuck it into the side of your jeans. Black band t's are best.
Step3 Do your makeup a bit thicker then normal. No, a little more thicker then that, but please, do not make your self look like a racoon. Some scene kids do that, it just dosnt look that great.
Step4Now, for your shoes. The classic black high tops. Make sure they are dirty. Run outside and jump up and down in the dirt, scrape your shoes in the ground, anything to make them look at least a year old. Now to draw/write on them. I've scrawled my name on one of my shoes. Then down the sides i have some lyrics from a few songs.
Step5 Okay, for the more glamorous scene look.
Instead of wearing band tshirts, get out your black low cut singlets/tshirts. Throw a stylish necklace in, preferably a long one.
For the shoes, wear cute flats.
Step6 If you are wearing a dress, throw fish net stockings, or regular stockings on. If they are normal ones, make a few holes in them here and there.
Step7 Now, your haaaaaaaaair. Get you're cans of hairspray ready. With a 'teasing comb' tease your hair, so it is not flat. That is really the goal here. Make it big, but not as in 'afro' big. Stylish big. Then spray it alot so it stays.
Explaining to someone how to get scene hair is hard. You really have to figure it out yourself.
Step8Music plays a big part in being a scene kid.
I strongly suggest you introduce yourself to hardcore music. Develop a favourite hardcore band. Know the lyrics, band members names etc.
There is nothing worse then telling someone who your favourite band is, and they start talking about a specific band member in that band, but you dont know their names, and therefore stand there and nod without saying anything, pretending you know what they are on about. Also, you will be branded a 'fake scene kid'. Tough, but true.

If you just cant get into hardcore music, being a scene kid is not for you. I dont want you to dramatically change who you really are inside .

I did a little checking online about gown rental across the U.S. and found the gowns rent for about $165 to $250. You might be better off finding an inexpensive gown on eBay, craigslist or at your local bridal store. Another place to look for stylish, inexpensive gowns is...get this...Target. I looked on Target's bridal webpage and they carry a nice line of Isaac Mizrahi gowns. And none of them is more than $160. Congratulations on your wedding and have a wonderful time!

First of all, congratulations!

My wedding budget is $5,000, so I have a few tricks up my sleeve:

Ceremony: Have an early ceremony (around 2 o'clock).

*Your guests will have already have eaten lunch, and won't be expecting a huge meal. You then can serve light food such as finger food and desert.

Wedding dress: I found a beautiful gown at http://www.groupusa.com/ for a little more than $300 (my splurge). They have beautiful gowns by wonderful designers from affordable to extravagent.

*Try places like GroupUSA, David's Bridal, and even eBay for knockout deals.
I just found this eBay store http://myworld.ebay.com/gianinarbridal
One dress is $39! Brand new. Add $89 for shipping from China and you have some knock out deals.

Bridal Jewelry: I found my crystal wedding jewelry at no other than Wal Mart. Originally I had been looking at genuine jewelry from big name stores, but decided to scrimp here to save money for the wedding gifts my fiance' and I plan to get each other.

*Don't forget retail sortes like Wal Mart and Target. My headpiece, earrings, and necklace by Crystal Collections came to $21.

Wedding location: I have four choices, a lovely place on the property of a family friend, the beautiful garden of a local inn, a church that has a SMALL fee and goes well with my wedding style, or on the mountain where my grandparents' grew up, married, and live.

*Look for unconventional venues; they'll be cheaper or even free. I opted for the for the garden for my English Garden theme.

Reception Site: I have two options here, one of which is the brand new mansion-style library in our town. It would cost only $199 ($100 refundable damage deposit, and $40 for a library worker to stay on site). The other would be our local arts building of the town center. They have several large and beautiful rooms and are roughly the same amount as the library.

*The same rule for venues applies here.

Caterer: My friends and family are fabulous cooks, and are going to provide a buffet-style meal for the wedding guests.

*Friends and family can really cut down on wedding expenses!

Cake: A friend of my fiance' and I is a cake baker, and would only charge us the price of the ingredients.

*If you don't have anyone who can provide this. Go for a two or three tier cake, and then have sheet cakes to cut for the bulk of the guests. That way you end up saving several hundred dollars. You can also have a two-tier cake, serving that only to wedding party, parents, and grandparents and serve guests with a cupcake tower.
I'm simply having a three tier cupcake tower and forgoing the cake.

Flowers: I am making my own bouquets. Flowers for a 30-stem wedding bouquet, toss bouqet, and six 20-stem bridesmaid bouquets would only run $40 before shipping costs from http://www.theflowerexchange.com. I am having a family friend do the arrangements for a fraction of the cost.

*Do as much as you can on your own! Http://www.theknot.com has videos and step-by-steps on how to make your own bouquets and arrangements.

Invitations: You can purchase nice paper, envelopes, and an emblam, and an ink cartridge and make your own for about $50. OR you could go to http:///www.invitationsbydawn.com
I'm getting 100 invitations for $64.95 (by the time the envelopes, etc are included it will be $107)

*Instead of $250-$350! Do what you can on your own, or look for budget-conscience resources like the one above.
I am making my own invitations using beautiful, old postcards from the early 1900s. One-of-a-kind, over a century old, and inexpensive at a total of $90.

DJ: My fiance's brother is a DJ, and will save us $975 by doing the reception as a wedding gift.

*If you don't have someone like this, consider cutting the cost by having premade CDs of the music you want, and have someone man the player.

Attendant Gifts: Try places like http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com

*I found my 7 attendants gifts for $35, because they were having a sale on freshwater pearl bracelets =]

Centerpieces: Something simple. If you're having a fall wedding, vases filled with slender branches painted gold or silver is beautiful and inexpensive, and branches of berries can be added for winter. Spring or summer, simple vases with a few flowers.

*I found short, square vases and are putting five gerbera daisies in each. Total cost for 18 tables is $99, and they look gorgeous!

Another tip, don't go for costly favors for the guests--most just throw them away--instead get glass vases and fill them with candy in your wedding colors, making an affordable (and memorable) candy buffet. Be sure to provide little bags. Have your bridesmaids' pay for their dress and shoes, and have a family friend who's good with hair or makeup help with that on the wedding day. Be sure to get them nice gifts!
If your attendants are on a budget, go to a place like http://ww.groupusa.com for dress ideas. My attendants dresses cost $119 each, and they're something they can wear again and again.

Any ideas on how to make lavender and light blue wedding colors work in September?

I use to always want to get married in May and my wedding colors were going to be lavender and light (almost aqua) blue. Very Springy :) Now that I'm actually engaged, my wedding is being planned for September but I don't want to give up my wedding colors. Any ideas on how to incorporate typically springy colors into my September wedding? I do NOT want to go with a fall theme!

Those colors are very lovely. It is your wedding and if those are your colors you want, by all means go with it.

My suggestion is to add a third color to the mix like a cream, harvest gold, silver or my personal favorite with this color combination, charcoal grey. On option would be have a color dress of charcoal grey with a light blue sash and lavender flowers.

Skin color/tone and bridal gown color?

I swear I read something somewhere that gave advice on what gown colors go best with certain skin tones. Now I can't find it. I should have taken notes!

My skin tone is like Jennifer Lopez maybe lighter, but I hope to get a tan before the wedding... what gown color looks best... ivory, cream, white, etc? I want something that will really bring out my tan skin. My fiance says a white gown will work best. I agree and it's also easier to find a veil for a white dress too. But I'm concerned about getting TOO white a gown.

BTW I have dark hair and eyes too. It's not like I'm a blond with a crazy dark tan....
I don't know if I have cool or warm undertones... I barely wear makeup, and every time I have one of those makeup consultant thingies.. they tell me something different. I look good in turquiose if that helps :o)

The stark white gowns really only look good on people with darker complexions. They can either be too stark, or wash you out. You sound like you have a good skin tone. Most dresses today come in an off white--each designer calls it something different--it's white, but a much softer white with warmer tones to it. Ivory or cream would also look good on you, and depending on your skin (do you have warm or cool undertones) those light coffee colors might look great on you. I'm a professional dressmaker, and I made a very light pink dress with an off white chiffon overlay (which made the pink even fainter) for a Latino girl--she was stunning!

The only way to really tell which color will look best on you is to try them on. Take a digital camera with you, and have a friend take photos of yourself in each dress you try on.

I got a call for an interview at a hotel. It will be my 1st interview. What should I wear??? I have a nice shirt I can wear but I dont own slacks or a skirt or anything. Can I wear black jeans or should I go buy dresspants??? What kind of shoes should I wear?

Do not wear jeans on an interview,regardless of the color. If you can't afford a new skirt or pants,got to the resale shop and buy. Wear your nice shirt with either the skirt or pants. Wear sensible shoes and make sure they compliment your outfit.

On your 1st interview, just relax and be yourself. You did not say what position you were applying for. If it is for a front desk position,remember you are the 1st person a guest sees when checking in,so make sure you are well groomed and neatly dressed for the interview.

Keep your dress conservative and classic at whatever place you interview. Classic colors are black, navy or gray with white collared blouses in a good material like cotton (i.e., something not see through).

Wear a nice suit .. jacket, skirt, and blouse. Even if all you have is a wool suit for a summer interview or vice versa, wear that. If you're a gal (bridget), wear a skirt to the knee (not too short, not too tight. or split too high anywhere on the hem). If you only have pants, make sure they're not too tight or too short (never low slung on hips). Never wear jeans. If jeans are ok there, you can wear those After you're hired if allowed, but not for an interview.

Wear a low (1"-2"), closed toe pump in a coordinating color with your suit (black with black, etc.). Be sure your whole shoe and heels are free of wear and dirt.

Celebs go without pantyhose, but business people don't. Wear a pantyhose color that's suitable for your skin color so it matches the color of your skin. Get one with a spandex in it so it doesn't look squishy like nylons (check Hanes and No Nonsense for a spandex of about 10%-15%).

Keep your jewelry small and minimal (a conservative watch is really enough).

Keep your make up minimal. A little blush and mascara is plenty. No heavy or bright lipstick.

Don't wear cologne. Fresh and clean is the only smell you want to have for an interview.

Wear your hair conservative and be careful of overpowering hairspray smells. If your hair is long, make sure it's really neat. If it's not, pull it back or up with a conservative barrette or non decorative bobby pins.

Always arrive early ... 10-15 minutes is good.

Smile and be very nice to everyone you meet ~ receptionists, people who pass by you, etc. (no conversations, just smile and say hello).

Don't talk too much. Let the interviewer lead you and do most of the talking. Just because an interviewer asks 'Do you have any questions?' doesn't mean you Have to have any. If you want to ask something, you can ask when do they think they'll be making a decision? Of course, never ask about salary/money or benefits. That will come later if they call to offer you a job.

Make sure you take your resume with you along with your references on a separate sheet ~ and both on good, plain white paper to give the interviewer. Carry extras in case you're whisked off to interview with someone else in the company. If you don't have one, get a small, flat business resume case to carry these in. If you can't find an inexpensive one, just carry them in a plain manila folder.

Always have a pen and pad with you to take out and write down anything important. You look prepared when you use your own pen to fill out applications when companies request them.

Make sure your purse looks conservative and neat; otherwise, don't carry it in to your interview.

Be confident but humble; breathe; don't be nervous. It goes a long way to acing an interview.

Thank the interviewer for the time they gave you.

Send a brief handwritten thank you note right away.

Don't lose hope. There are lots more people than there are jobs, so competition for the few jobs available is very high.

I think these colors are good for fall, but stray away from the typical fall wedding colors. I actually love this WTOO line and the others colors that may work for you are the cabernet, black, pomegranite, sapphire, plum, cognac, avocado, dulce de leche...there are more.

As for the reception colors...I think after you pick a dress color...you can go to knot.com and search that shade...and they have ideas for colors to pair with it, reception, flower ideas etc. Good luck! I would love to have a fall wedding...but my fiance is still in college, and we have to plan our honeymoon around school! Congrats!

As long as you do not wear dark or colored tights with them or wearing very light beige-nudes heels if you have dark colorings. Nude heels need to blend with your skintone in order to make them work. They will work ANY color and print dress, because they are not noticeable. Nude shoes should always be worn with nude tights or bare legged or else, the "seamless legline" is broken which make them useless...

Dark colored women need darker nude shoes. The purpose with nude shoes is that they would look like you dont (almost) wearing any shoes. Little bit like wearing black slips with black see-through dresses. Shoes need to be blended and in general be darker than your tights/hemline. Or if they are colored, they can pick up a color elsewhere in the outfit. You wear about any other colors with black/white dresses because both colors are neutrals and goes with basically anything. If it was a multi-colored dress, its more safe to pick up the color in the print or simply wear nude or neutral shoes!

If you wore a black dress with white heels however, it wouldnt work that well (but more forgiven, it depends on the look you are going for), because the contrast is too high and would draw too much attention to your footwear. (do you want to stare at your feets or at You?).

also ... may I add that although black or a dark shade is a slimming colour, this rule only applies at night time

in the day time, natural day colours are slimming e.g. blues-lilacs, greens-pinks your bridesmaids will look and feel better in a pastel shade :)

also a larger lady will feel more comfortable in a gown that covers her thighs, tummy, upper arms and keeps her boobs nice an secure

you can have them wear shawls or shrug jackets over their dresses :)

I'm getting married in Oct. I'm SO not girly and actually do not want a wedding, BUT fiance wants it so.. here I am, having no idea what to do about a wedding dress.
I'm very hesitant to go in to a bridal shop b/c well I'm just not a people person and do NOT want some sales person anywhere near me hanging over me like a vulture. I just don't like people I don't know touching me or anything like that.

A-line dresses are flattering for almost every body type. V-neck are also very suited to plus-sized women who have a large bust as they break it up a bit to make you seem a bit less top-heavy. That being said, I know a lot of well-designed strapless gowns look really great on plus-sized women because they are designed to pull everything in at the right places. And anything that is cinched in at the waist is good- it gives you a good shape!

I think the main thing is that you have to try the dresses on. If you're an apple shape definitely steer clear of an empire waist. However, if you're an hourglass shape you may be able to get away with it in certain dresses but not others (in general very few people can pull off an empire waist- even lots of thin people end up looking pregnant). If you're worried about a sales assistant taking over and trying to talk you into things, take an honest friend/relative that will take charge of the situation.

As for a time frame- I'd start looking asap. Many stores take a few months to order in dresses and you may need extra time for any alterations that need to be done.

Great idea! You know honestly ebay has some REALLY cheap gowns. I know a girl who got one from china on ebay for almost nothing. The shipping was the biggest hassel ($100). Also if you do end up buying ask for LAST SEASON"S stalk. WAY CHEAPER. Some of those gowns would cost less then renting and are definatly great looking!!!!! ALso there are stores that sell used dresses. Usually the dress has to be only 3 years old and they are reasonably priced.

Believe it or not, check out Costco's website, under flowers and wedding flowers. They actually have suppliers that create bridal party flowers at a very reasonable price, and very nice too (if you like very simple details such as an all rose bouquet).

Check out Costco for invitations too. Nice selection and well priced too (My daughter in law ordered theirs, and I was pleasantly pleased....it was only 100.00 for invitations and reply cards, etc...)

Shave costs by finding a restaurant or hotel w/banquet rooms with a ceremony site. (it may cost a little more that if you find a site. Restaurants and hotels have everything including staff). It'll spare you alot of headaches with locating a catering; rental of linens and tables & chairs, etc.....) You'll do good if you're able to find a restaurant/hotel that offers meals up to $65.00 per person ($6,500.00)

CAKES (Sometimes the restaurant or hotel provides that at a reasonable amount)

FAVORS: (100.00 to 250.00 [1.00 to 2.50 per person])

So far, that's approximately 8,350.00

Other factors:
Brides gown (Check out David's Bridal or even Target on line....Issac Mizrahi's line. Currently on sale, and a great price of only $100.00. My daughter in law got her dress there [on line] and it looked no different then someone who paid 1,500.00).

Bridesmaid dresses & shoes (Bridesmaids may pay for their own)
(Go to outlets for great bridesmaid dresses....i.e.: Coldwater Creek
had a variety of dresses that were perfect for bridesmaid dresses
for under $50.00, and they were made of silk or silk chiffon)

Tux rental (for groom & groomsmen)
(Optional: Transportation, i.e.: Limo., may not be necessary)

Hotel Room for (day before and after wedding)

Go to your local bridal shop and ask to see the "sale" or "off-the-rack" dresses. Theses dresses are usually one season old and are discounted majorly. The reason they are discounted is because you are buying the dress that you try on, you are not ordering it. Do not go to David's Bridal, their dresses are very poor quality

Davids bridal has a wide variety of dresses, for pretty cheap (depending on what your looking for) Also, they have specials ALL the time. Maybe check out they're $99 sale. Usually the dresses they have for $99 are the really small (like yours would be) or really really bid. Its an option to check out!

Also, try ebay. I see dresses on there all the time for under $200, and in every size you could think of!!

You can find a good deal on Craigslist on a David's Bridal dress, then go into the store to try it on. Lots of people post the item numbers, etc, to make it easy for you to do that.

I'm trying to find a wedding dress with long lace sleeves. I really like these two:

but both those companies don't seem reputable. And other more well known companies just seem to have lace jacket style coverups for older brides. I know david's bridal will attach long lace sleeves to any sleeveless dress, but the pictures of their sleeves didn't look very good.

I'm 5'10'' and a size 14. So a little overweight, but I don't really need a huge cover up dress. I just have a scar on my upper arm from a skiing accident that I'd be more comfortable if it was covered up. And I think those two dresses look classy, yet sexy.

Go to a store and try some on, even if you don't plan to buy one there. You might find out you like a silhouette you didn't expect to like. Plus, wedding dresses run really small. When I was shopping for my dress, I wore a size six, but all the dresses that fit were a size 10.

If I had to guess, though, I think a mermaid or an a-line with lace sleeves would look gorgeous.

Where can I find a plus-sized prom dress like this? (Examples included)?

Up for a challenge? ;) I can't find a dress like this anywhere.
I need a cute plus sized dress, I would like it to be long and puffy, (to look pretty and to keep from looking lumpy) but i'm flexible on the design as long as it's not a straight flow one. Most colors work, I have fair skin, brown hair and hazel eyes, so whatever goes with that is ok.
The main thing I need is one where the neckline doesn't go too much lower than the collar bone and where the sleeves go about halfway down to my elbows.
(I have examples at the bottom)
I'm not self conscious, I just don't feel comfortable wearing a dress with a low neckline or one that has very short/no sleeves, I'm not sure why.
I'm not the richest girl though so I need the dress to be around $200. :/

Any help would be really appreciated, I can't find anything right now and I might just not be able to go. :( I'm not even sure a dress like this exists. I really want to go, but I want to wear a pretty dress I feel good in like all the skinny girls, is that too much to ask?

I have light brown (practically dirty blonde) hair and light brown caramel-like almost gold eyes. I'm trying to find a prom dress that will bring out my eyes/go with my hair? I was thinking a royal blue..but I could be way off! Thank you!

Royal blue is all wrong, btws honey I'm a wedding dress designer and royal blue is all wrong.! I've worked with all types of hair eye, tall skinny short plus size. And if your tallish skinny and have long or medium hair I would go with either pink or red.and if not dark brown Long dresses are best with a sparkly head peice and non too sparkly earrings with a locket golden or silver color. As for red or pink I would suggest little bit of sparkly necklace and head peice with diamond stun medium sized earrings.hope I helped girl have a great prom and have fun!!! But not too much fun lol!
