I'm going to a Sunday afternoon wedding in April. It is in south Florida at a hotel on the water. I found a dress today that I initially thought would be perfect. It is a knee length dress with a beautiful, vintage silhouette. The color is a very very pale peach (bordering on ivory) with subtle gold leopard print in the material. The dress isn't "bride" looking at all... but after thinking about it, I wonder if the light color is too close to white to be appropriate.
Opinions please...
Is very very pale peach with subtle gold print all through the fabric ok to wear to a wedding?
Answer
The dress sounds gorgeous, but sadly I wouldn't recommend it for a wedding. Up close, the subtle peach and gold tones might be visable, but from more than a few feet away it's going to look like you're wearing an ivory dress. Also, you don't know exactly what the bride will be wearing, and if she chose an ivory dress instead of bright white, then your choice is going to look even more like a faux pas. The bride might not be pleased, either. You can still wear pale colors, but I suggest looking for something with a slightly more obvious color in it just to avoid any confusion. Then you can either return the original dress or save it for another special occasion! Good luck!

A good friend of mine is getting married. I have a bridesmaids dress that is a wine color, from standing up in another friends wedding, (cost $150). The colors of my friends getting married is deep red. My boyfriend is the best man. Would it be bad if I wore my dress to the wedding? Seeing that the colors are very close? I would like to have a picture of my boyfriend and I matching, even though I am not standing up in the wedding. I also hate the fact that I have this beautiful dress, that cost alot and I only wore once.
The dress is in 2 pieces. (3 if you include the shawl)
A corset top with beautiful beading. and a satin A line skirt. very different than what the girls will be wearing. Although, I am not standing up in the wedding. I am helping out alot for them. The groom to be is one of my bestfriends as well as my boyfriend, and I became good friend with his fiancee since they've been dating.
Oh yeah, The wedding is in November. The ceremony and the reception are being done back to back at the same hall.

If I were you, I would simply take the time to call the bride, and ask her if she minds that a dress you'd like to wear to her wedding happens to be a close color to that of her bridesmaids dresses. Most likely she won't mind, but if she does, don't take offense... simply accept whatever she says. You can probably wear that dress again to another function soon anyway.
